I arrived at St Lukes in very poor health after radiotherapy for cancer. The first few days I was unable to look after myself. I found the staff were very concerned and was given a high level of care. As I improved I was able to take notice of my surroundings. The staff were always helpful cheerful
and pleasant to all the patents in there care. I cannot praise enough the staff, atmosphere and level of care available at St Lukes.
Reply from Kelly Hopkinson, Hopkinson at St Luke's Nursing HomeThank you Stanley for your kind review, we all miss you here and you are welcome to call and see us anytime, it is very quiet without you and we miss seeing you in the conservatory reading and chatting to everyone. St Luke's is a friendly, welcoming home with a unique 'home from home' feel. The manager is extremely approachable and wants the very best for all her residents - nothing is too much trouble! She cares - a lot! As a result, her staff do too! We have built up lovely relationships with the staff, they
go out of their way to help and support not only my dad but our family and friends too. My dad has very complexed needs and has to have round the clock care from needing to be cleaned, dressed, fed and turned in bed. The staff are extremely attentive to his needs and have taken the time to get to know my dad as a person, which is so important. The rooms are bright and airy and are always cleaned to a high standard. Family and friends are free to sit in the conservatory or in the lounge and help themselves to a drink.
Overall, as a family, we are happy with the care that my dad is receiving at St Luke's and trust that when we are not there, his needs are being met.
Reply from Kelly Hopkinson, Hopkinson at St Luke's Nursing HomeThank you for your lovely words, your dad is a pleasure to care for and we are so glad you are happy. I will pass on your feedback to the team.

This is an exceptional care home, from the minute we arrived my mind was put at rest by the manager, she runs the home with care dignity and resident needs are met. She has an excellent understanding of my husbands illness he has dementia. The staff are great and very friendly. The chef cooks to high
standards and is home cooked. My husband is on respite and I would not hesitate to send him again to this care home , it truly is a vey caring place.

This is a very special home. The staff care for the residents with compassion. They are good communicators and the manager deals with any concerns sensitively and quickly. The reception and catering staff are welcoming and friendly. The food is excellent. The activity coordinator works well with
the residents, treating them as individuals, taking a keen interest in their life stories. I would recommend this home to anyone.

My father had been in the home on two previous occasions for respite care. He then had a bad fall and needed to go in for a third time. The staff are amazing and become part of the family showing great kindness and respect for the residents. The premises are well maintained and kept spotless by the
housekeeping team. The kitchen tries to accommodate every need of residents. The carers and nursing staff are kind and considerate. As the relative I always came away knowing that my father was being well cared for and most importantly safe. My father unfortunately passed away and the care and support from the staff for the relatives could not have been better. Holding our hands through a very difficult time. I cannot thank the staff enough for their kindness.

St. Luke's has been a positive experience so far in the following areas:
*The management met our daughter, myself and my husband on admission day. We were welcomed warmly and made to feel comfortable instantly. My husband settled in rather quickly, which I feel certain, was a result of a socially
healthy environment. He was assessed immediately in a gentle, patient manner by senior nurse. He was asked about his food likes and dislikes. Incidentally, he loves his meals here.
*The Carers are attentive and thorough in their care and treat my husband with patience and respect.
*The domestic staff leave the home looking immaculately clean and personal laundry is equally so.
*The chefs and kitchen staff are amazing, they really care that the residents are satisfied, the food according to my husband is really tasty and satisfying.
*The nurses are kind, gentle and keen to ensure good health of my husband.
*Overall our family are very happy with the care and attitude of all "depts".

Mum is happy and generally well looked after, there are issues with her personal hygiene that cause me concern. Her nails remain uncut and have a lot of dirt under them. She is bed-bound so it is a little difficult to shower her, but it should be more often. She is also having protracted treatment for
hearing problems. One of her hearing aids was lost at the home some time ago, but until she successfully has her ears cleared we cannot progress with getting new aids for her. This makes communication difficult for everyone and increases Mum's isolation. The staff are generally great at the home and Mum enjoys a friendly interaction with them, but attention to detail (personal hygiene) is a bit lax. Her room is warm and clean and her clothes are cleaned and ironed regularly.

Very friendly reception, helped me enter and escorted me to my friend who was relaxing in the lounge. My immediate impression from entering the building, I felt quite welcomed and the ambience was warm calm and inviting. Residents and staff were very friendly and courteous. I will be visiting again
soon, it was a really good experience. I would readily advise people to visit. Thank you.

Although Mum is struggling to settle (due to dementia) I am very happy with how she is being cared for. Mum always looks presentable and her appetite is slowly returning, she is eating her meals and has gained a little weight since arriving 12 weeks ago. Overall I am very pleased with St. Luke's and
would recommend.

The old staff that is leaving in tears of sadness are excellent - not medical staff, just care staff. Too many agency staff. Would I put anyone close at St Luke's? No. Too cold and unfriendly with agency staff. My husband was sent to a care organisation a few times. His room was left, on his last time
his room was completely emptied and when I got to the hospice, all and I mean everything was dumped in his hospice room in black bags. Even the charity worker was shocked when his room was still being funded. I felt this is unacceptable. The new medical staff seemed a lot better but I didn't leave my husband in like before.

As soon as I visited St Luke’s, I knew this nursing home was the right place for my husband. Every member of the team treated him as an individual, helping to preserve his dignity during his time there.
It’s a small home on one floor with lovely gardens. A GP practice is next door. They visit weekly
as does a hairdresser/beautician. A chiropodist and opticians visit occasionally.
We made my husband's room a home-from-home. The food is mostly home-cooked. Unlike when my Mum was in a care home, his possessions did not 'go walking', his clothes were cleaned and returned with care as if he was home with me.
The tenderness and sensitivity shown to my husband in the last days of his life is something I will never forget. Special credit to the night team members who made sure he was not alone while I came home to grab a bit of sleep.
Knowing the team was all there for him and me, and our family at the end brings me great comfort. I'm truly thankful and forever grateful for that.
Reply from Rebecca Blackburn, Manager at St Luke's Nursing HomeThank you for your lovely review and I will share with the team, it was an honour to support you and your husband. I cannot thank St Luke's enough for the care they gave to my mother in her final weeks. St Luke's were never too busy to talk to us and to provide us with updates. We live in Cyprus and could not travel in her last weeks but the care Mum received was superb. All the staff were friendly and cheerful,
which was just what we needed on days when we were feeling the guilt of not being able to travel. They were always professional and nothing has ever been too much trouble for them. They cared for her like anyone would care for their own mother. Since Mum died and we have still been unable to travel, they have taken on the responsibility of getting Death Certificates and getting this to the right people and being a shoulder for us to lean on when we needed it most. Long or short-term care, anyone would be lucky to be in the compassionate and tender care of the staff at St Luke's. Special thanks to the manager and another specific staff member.
Reply from Rebecca Blackburn, Manager at St Luke's Nursing HomeHi Jason. Thank you for your lovely comments, I will share them with the team. It was a privilege to support your mum and you, as we all understood how difficult it was for you being so far away. We always say at St Luke's it is a family and we show everybody who walks through the door the same care and compassion as we would a family member.
