Boston House

from Catherine P (Mother of Resident) published on 8 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My 29-year-old autistic son moved here in January 2025 after a 17-month hospital stay. The huge improvements in every area of his life have been amazing. I was sure Boston House would be the right place for him to continue his recovery, and I'm being continually proved right. Every single staff member
has given 100% of their effort to make my son feel safe, secure, and well cared for. Any queries or requests are looked into or responded to speedily. Other residents are all lovely and all have made my son feel welcome. The entire family has been made to feel welcome every visit and nothing feels like too much trouble. I can only thank everyone at Boston House for making his first 2 months here as positive an experience as possible for my son and the entire family.

I am very happy and confident my step daughter is well cared for at Isfryn House. I know she is very fond of her carers and very grateful for all they do for her. Whenever we visit we are made to feel welcome by all the friendly staff. Her condition is complex and I feel reassured that she is understood
and absolutely everything is being done to help and support her to lead the happiest life she can.

Review of

Ty Arfryn

from M J (Friend of Resident) published on 19 September 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My very good friend moved into Ty Arfryn nearly two years ago. I spent many sleepless nights worrying about how well she would be looked after, and how the staff would interact with her, as she is not the easiest person to look after, much as I love her. I am sleeping much better now, as she has settled
in so well. The staff there have all been amazing, and I could not praise them enough for the care and support they provide for her. I had hoped that she would never have to go into a care home, as I thought that she would receive more love and care in a home setting, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The staff are always fresh for their shifts, not worn out after constantly caring for residents, so are able to give their best for the people they support. I really appreciate all they do for the people they support.

Reply from Tracy Heaven, Regional Manager at Ty Arfryn

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review. Reading this has made me really proud, and I know the team will be thrilled to see how much their hard work and passion for making a difference to people's lives has been recognised. We appreciate it.

Ty Arfryn

from Stephanie L (Resident) published on 18 September 2024

I just wanted to write an updated review. I stated I was ready to move on, I was honest with everyone and told them I didn't feel quite ready and would rather wait until at least after Christmas. Everyone was absolutely fine with it. I'm now enjoying baking other residents' birthday cakes which makes
me feel valued and also me and my key worker have arranged a trip together on one of my trigger dates to do autumn and winter clothes shopping which I'm looking forward to. I have now settled in nicely to one of the semi-independence flats within the house which I prefer and am in charge of doing my own medication. So things still going well but I know I have more time here now which puts my mind at ease.

Reply from Tracy Heaven, Regional Manager at Ty Arfryn

This is so heart-warming to read. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review that truly captures the heart of what Ty Arfryn is all about positive support that is delivered in a person-centred way at a pace that suits the individual. It has been our pleasure and privilege to support you on your journey so far.

Princes Court

from Miriam H (Sister of Resident) published on 10 September 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I want to say a big thank you to the management team and staff at Princes Court for taking such wonderful care of my brother.
My brother is always treated with kindness and respect and always supported. It gives me peace of mind knowing he is in safe hands. The home is clean, comfortable, and welcoming.
The staff communicate regularly, keeping me updated on how my brother is doing. They are always willing to answer my questions and help. It really feels like we're part of a supportive community, not just a care home. I couldn't ask for a better place for my brother, and I am so grateful for everything the management and staff do to support him. Highly recommended.

Cae Deri

from Gareth O (Resident) published on 2 September 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

I moved to Cae Deri on 18th November 2018 and left in late 2023, living there for nearly five years. I find it odd that reviews are only being requested now that I've left. Cae Deri used to ask for service users' opinions during staff supervision, but after I provided honest negative feedback, residents'
opinions were no longer solicited. Now that I've left, you're asking for reviews, which feels suspicious. I felt unheard at Cae Deri and still do. There was some improvement when the new manager arrived. She decorated the house in colours I selected, which made me feel like I had a voice, unlike the previous manager. Before the new manager, I was left naked in my room, ridiculed by staff, ignored at the table, and treated with sarcasm. Many staff members befriend service users after they leave Cae Deri but avoided me. These same staff members have also avoided adding me on social media. My main concern isn't about social media, but about how poorly they treated me compared to others.

Reply from Tracy Heaven, Regional Manager at Cae Deri

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry to hear that you do not feel you had a positive experience at Cae Deri in the earlier years of your placement. Although I am happy to read that you felt recognised and included by the new manager currently in place, and hope that she made a positive difference to your overall experience. We appreciate all feedback, and wish you the very best for the future.

Six years I have been living in Ty Arfryn, honestly really grateful to have such a unique opportunity in my residential home Ty Arfryn after coming out of the rehab ward. Ty Arfryn has honestly helped me with everything I can do today and still learning with advice and guidance every single day. To
me personally feels exactly like my second family, who helped me to walk, talk and become active in life again. we did woodwork, a Ty Arfryn house sign by the entrance by the road and a lot of garden work, cycling and returning to the gym. The reason for this explanation is to show how much of a massive impact Ty Arfryn has had in my rehabilitation opportunity I'm grateful to have in life again.

I'm disgusted by the way staff treat visitors. Was asked to drop off a bank card to my friend's door slammed in my face, no manners, no management work over the weekends, shambles. I've never been to a place like this before, left me in the driveway.

Since arriving at Ty Arfryn my daughter has blossomed and thrived. The staff give 100% commitment to ensuring she has their full support looking after all aspects of her daily living requirements. She is making massive strides in reaching some personal goals and becoming more confident in the community.
She is now able to use public transport, go shopping, cook meals, volunteer for two hours in a charity shop, attend 'Huts' which involves activities such as craft work (a full day out long bus journey), attend 'mind' therapeutic day service two hours once weekly, all with support of a member of staff which at in the past appeared impossible for her. The staff are wonderful and they have the most fantastic manager resulting in a top care team second to none...thank you guys for all your efforts, and kindness towards my daughter.

I have lived in Cildewi House since 2019 and I honestly don't have a single bad word to say about the place. The staff are amazing and the manager is incredible. She always goes above and beyond for not only the service users but staff also. The home is super comfortable and very homely. There are always
many activities inside the house and outside. Cildewi House honestly saved me thanks to the amazing team that runs it.

Review of

The Haven

from A R (Mother of Resident) published on 22 May 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My daughter moved to The Haven late summer 2023. I was very anxious at first as she is nonverbal and has very limited communication and relies on all needs to be met by caregivers. She also requires administration of medication for epilepsy and isn’t exactly compliant so that also worried me. I should
have trusted my instinct. To say my daughter settled in well is an understatement. Yes, there were a few ‘getting to know her’ moments but we as a family couldn’t be happier with her new ‘home from home’. When I visit she is always very settled, clean and well cared for, i.e. fingernails cut, fringe-trimmed, hair nicely plaited.
I have always found staff to be very kind, caring and understanding and very engaged with all residents.
The Haven should be praised for the excellent service they provide and I’m sure I speak on behalf of other parents when I say it is a huge comfort to know there are providers like The Haven, with genuinely lovely caring staff who really do care.

Reply from Tracy Heaven, Regional Manager at The Haven

from Chloe S (Resident) published on 17 May 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

The house has been very supportive to me and has gone above and beyond to help me with my mental health and the manager and staff have fought my corner at every blip to ensure I can stay at Ty Arfryn. The staff are kind and caring and I couldn't wish for a better place to live, it's the best place for
me and has helped me transition from institutions to independence. The staff treat me with dignity and respect and all my care is led by me.
The manager is one of the funniest people I have ever met and never fails to make me laugh even at my lowest. The staff have banter with us that lightens everyone's day and makes the home feel less like a care home and more like a family home.

Cildewi House

from Samuel M (Resident) published on 14 May 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I’ve had a studio flat at Cilddewi House for about two and a half years now and I can’t praise it highly enough. I’d never stayed in a care home before - I came straight from the hospital and I can’t say I was looking forward to it very much- but it has turned out to be great all through up to the present
and it’s changed my perceptions and improved my outlook, not just of care homes but people in general and the community where I’m based. Cilddewi has a good mix of people (both staff and residents), everyone is friendly and supportive, and the general atmosphere is relaxed and upbeat. Staff are highly trained and very professional about making sure we’re all supported and looked after but above all they’re easygoing and sensible. There’s been no nagging to do things at their pace; I’ve received minimal support which is all I wanted although I’ve enjoyed going on a few trips and activities one-to-one with a staff member and also in a group, all on a voluntary basis. Nice neighbourhood too.

Reply from Tracy Heaven, Regional Manager at Cildewi House

Thank you for such a detailed and positive review. It is truly heartwarming to read such lovely praise for the work the staff do at Cildewi House and the support you have received.
