My mother died in Glan yr Afon in November 2024 having spent the last 8 months of her life there. It was a difficult decision for me to arrange for her to go into a care/nursing home setting because you always fear that she might not receive the standard of care that she deserved. My fears were unfounded
because throughout her stay she was handled with great professionalism and with dignity and respect. Many thanks to all the staff there.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to review us. We do really appreciate it. It was a pleasure and privilege to care for Mum during her stay with us. She will be sadly missed.

My uncle has been a resident at this care home for the last three weeks, due to a decline in his frailty and mental health, although this was a difficult decision to make. We, as a family, are pleased with the choice of Bryn Illtyd. It is a beautiful home, the staff are helpful, approachable, caring
and show the residents' dignity and support. They are happy to answer any questions. The management is professional and compassionate to the needs of the client and their family. I have no negative issues to report.

My mother has been in for the past 2 weeks now she is a permanent resident here now. The care and the assistant are brilliant, I was worried about my mother going into a care home but I don't need to worry at all, what my mother has had in these two weeks is brilliant the care and assistant is very
good.
They are all well looked after. They do a lot of activities every day.
When the weather is fine they take them out for a stroll or a meal.
I highly recommend the care home for anyone who is in need. All the staff are so polite and very helpful with anything you need and it is very safe too.

My mother became a resident at Glan in early October, from the first meeting we had with the staff it was a very pleasing experience, very gentle conversation with Mam very patient and kind. I was kept informed every step of the way on the transfer from the hospital to Glan, Mam settled in quite well
and is happy. The home is clean and well presented and the staff are very helpful kind and patient. I am so pleased that I chose Glan-y-Afon as the staff has made the transition stress-free for me. I would just like to say a big thank you to the staff.

Reply from Ashok Bansal, Director at Glan-yr-Afon

I have visited Bryn Illtyd on several occasions to see my aunt. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. It is evident that they truly care about their 'guests'. Everywhere is clean and staff are always on hand ensuring that everyone is safe and looked after. The food is good
- everyone really enjoys. Bryn Illtyd offers great care to residents. The staff are amazing.

We as a family cannot thank the manager and his wonderful staff for the care, support and kindness our mother received during her time with them. Everyone made her feel so welcome when she first arrived, engaging her in a number of activities and events they held and we as a family felt part of the
Glan family during the year she spent with you.
Sadly in January 2024, she was diagnosed with a life-limiting condition, which she finally succumbed to in April of this year. However, the care, support and compassion she was shown during this period was second to none and we as a family shall always be eternally grateful to all the staff there.
One of her wishes was to receive her end-of-life care in Glan-yr-Afon, which was undertaken with such dignity and care by the staff so her final days were peaceful and a source of great comfort to the family. We shall be eternally grateful to everyone at Glan-yr-Afon for the care, compassion and support they gave to our mother during her final year.

Reply from Ashok Bansal, Director at Glan-yr-Afon

We are so grateful for your kind words. She has been a really incredible individual with great respect for people around her. She will not be forgotten by us that easily. It was actually a privilege for some of us to care for her as it was their own great Deputy Head that they were caring for. You have been a great family to us and we will remain indebted to you for that.

My mother was cared for at Glan-Yr-Afon from June 2022 until she passed away in July 2024. The care and respect she received from every individual each day was second to none. My mother was really happy there which was a great comfort to me. I cannot fault the staff, who worked extremely hard to make
sure Mam was well cared for and all her health needs were met. I would highly recommend Glan-Yr-Afon to anyone. I appreciate everything they did for my mother during her time there.

The care staff are always polite and happy and helpful, they work extremely hard but nothing is too much of a request for them. My one desire is that they ask my grandmother if there is anything that she requires doing more often. She has always done everything for herself and finds asking for help
very difficult as she feels like a burden. The management is brilliant, everything I ask of them is delegated perfectly. Nanny is happy, safe and healthy, that's what I had always hoped for.

Mum was here for two weeks for respite care. Throughout her stay at Bryn Illtyd, she was treated with dignity and care. The staff was always available to chat with her and nothing was too much trouble. They were approachable whenever we visited and were very happy to answer questions about her care.
The home has an excellent link to a local GP service and acted quickly to make sure she received the best medical help. Thank you very much to all the staff.

I cannot thank the Glan family enough for all the care they delivered to my mom. She was looked after with such dedication and compassion.
The home is welcoming, friendly and maintains a person’s individuality. All staff groups - carers, nurses, cleaners, management and caterers showed empathy and
consideration in abundance.
Exceptional care by exceptional people.

My Mother, who was a very private and independent woman, realized on September 22 that she needed full-time care, as she was continually falling. She was 91 at the time. We were lucky enough to get a place in Glan Yr Afon care home, and within two weeks we, and she, knew it was the right decision. The
staff was marvelous. She could be very rude, but the staff were so kind and understanding that she loved being there.
However, in early February 24, (17 months after going into the home), she suffered an inoperable condition and was transferred to the hospital. She knew that she was dying, and started palliative care there, but all the time, she wanted to go back to Glan Yr Afon to die, because she said that she loved it there and had so many friends among the staff. She was so happy to go back, even though she passed away a couple of days later. I (and all the family) cannot speak highly enough of the home... they gave her 17 additional enjoyable months of life!

Absolutely shocking care. Rang an ambulance and left my mother in a soiled condition for 11 hours. So bad the amazing staff at the hospital have raised safeguarding concerns. The family was not contacted and my mother passed away, she had pneumonia and sepsis. Treated disgracefully by the Manager of
the home and to top it off my mother's wedding rings have been stolen. Please do not send anyone to this place should be shut down.

Five stars would never be enough to rate the care and compassion given to my father and my family, especially in the last few weeks of his life at Glan-yr-Afon care home. Management and staff were outstanding, nothing was too much. I speak on behalf of my dad, myself and my family when I say we couldn't
have got through it without this special team. The care and dignity they gave him was unbelievable and so special. I couldn't thank everyone enough.

Following a fall at his residential home, my dad spent four weeks in hospital. Due to him becoming bedbound he was unable to return to the home and needed a nursing home. As a family we had no hesitation in choosing Glan-yr-Afon as our mum spent the last two weeks of her life there in 2017. Sadly, Dad
passed away on the 10th of October 2023, with his family by his bedside constantly for the last four days of his life. The love, care and support given to Dad, Mum and us by the Glan-yr-Afon family was amazing, loving, totally professional, compassionate and considerate, from the management team right the way across all staff, including carers, nurses, maintenance and catering team. We felt like we were part of the family that is Glan-yr-Afon, they laughed and cried with us and gave our parents a dignified passing. Their support and love in 2017 and in 2023 helped us through the darkest of times and we cannot thank or praise them enough.

Reply from Ashok Bansal, Director at Glan-yr-Afon

Dear Caroline, thanks a lot for your kind words. We do really appreciate it enormously. It was really a privilege and honour to have Dad with us, although for a short period. In the absence of your dad and mum, we all here at Glan, hope and pray that the Lord will console you all and send His angels to watch over your families.

My wife transferred from hospital to the Glan-yr-Afon care home after several long stays in hospital where it became obvious that she was not capable of caring for herself in her own home even with a care package in place. The move was a little traumatic at first and she took a little time to settle
into her new environment. The staff and management were excellent in welcoming her and trying to make her feel part of the home. Her health has improved greatly since taking up residence at the home. It is extremely encouraging to see how the staff and management work together with a hands on attitude which gives a sense of team effort and a clear commitment by all. Nothing is too much trouble for them and a welcome for visitors is always there and encouraged. A well-run and managed home to a high standard.
