I was extremely pleased with the care my husband received. He was always made comfortable and was always clean. The staff were always friendly, and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble and someone was always on hand to make a cup of tea. The home was always spotlessly clean. I wouldn't hesitate
to recommend this home to anyone. Thank you to all the staff for everything.

Mum is safe, happy and cared for here at Eryl Fryn. I am delighted with the care she receives and in constant contact with the carers at the home.
The only caveat is new phone charging can be a little inconvenient but am really happy with the care.

Ty Cariad Dementia Care Centre

from Mike W (Son of Resident) published on 12 September 2024

My dad spent 3 years and 2 months at Ty Cariad. Prior to his admission I visited lots of care homes to inspect the facilities and talk to the management. No other care home in the area came close to what Ty Cariad could offer in terms of professionalism. patient well-being and facilities, besides the
fact that it is a modern newly purpose-built facility which was spotlessly clean at all times. I found the management to be very approachable, fully understanding of my dad's needs as they specialise and fully understand dementia as that is Ty Cariad's main speciality and focus. The team, particularly the carers, are trained and encouraged to bond with the patients, forming friendships and therapeutic relationships that benefited my dad's outcome and made him very happy there. At no time was anything too much trouble, which in itself is a tribute to the exemplary care offered. We trusted Ty Cariad with the care of our beloved dad and you can trust them too!

Reply from Debbie Arthur, Manager at Ty Cariad Dementia Care Centre

Thank you for such kind words; they truly mean a lot to the whole team. I will certainly pass this on to the whole team.

My mum moved here in March 2024 and instantly you could tell she was happier. All the staff are amazing and very caring. The food is varied and delicious. It is healthy with lots of vegetables and good quality meat. The activities are regular and interesting. We could not hope for a beer home for Mum.

My wife moved to Ty Cariad on the 27th of December 2023, following a substandard care package at another facility in the area that proved injurious to her well-being and causing her condition to deteriorate to an unacceptable level. She can be difficult at times but the staff from the managers to the
care workers at Ty Cariad demonstrated effective communication which is the cornerstone of quality healthcare. The staff, particularly the carers, bond with the patients. forming therapeutic relationships that benefit patient-centred outcomes, such that my wife and our family members are more than satisfied with the quality of her care, quality of life, and her physical and mental health at this stage of her illness. Moving to Ty Cariad was the best decision we made as a family, and we thank them so much for all they do for my wife and my family; in particular three members of staff in particular who go above and beyond demonstrating a true quality of care service.

My mum came to Ty Cariad from another local home whereby she’d resided for three months and basically been left in her room with little interaction leaving her in both a poor state of mental and physical health. Mum moved to Ty Cariad in late December and settled in straight away. The staff and facilities
are nothing but superb and this has allowed Mum to become as happy as expected and her physical needs have also been met. Moving to Ty Cariad was the best decision made by the family and we thank everyone there so much; especially one member of staff in particular.

From the outset I would like to thank the manager and the deputy for all the help in accommodating my mother for her respite. All the staff are a credit to the home. Care assistants were always to hand if my mother needed help at any time day or night and felt safe and secure because of this. The laundry
staff also got involved in making sure that she was kept with clean clothing and looked dignified at all times. If I arrived at meal times the kitchen staff were always polite and welcoming. I will certainly recommend Eryl Fryn in the future. Thank you all.

My wife has been a resident for at least a year. She is looked after very well. I visit her twice a week and am happy how she is both physically and mentally. She loves her food and eats well. She is visited by the hairdresser and chiropodist. The nursing home provides activities and has a choir and
a singer with a guitar in. They play bingo and provide games, couldn't be in a better place.

My elderly mother was in the amazing care of Eryl Fryn for 9 months until very recently when sadly she passed away.
I cannot begin to express my gratefulness to every single person within the Home.
My mother was treated with genuine care, kindness and dignity by every single member of staff. From
management, nursing/carers, laundry/domestic assistants and also kitchen staff.
Whenever I visited she looked so clean and warm and well dressed in her own clothes regardless if she was in the lounge or in bed when unwell. My extended family who visited her very often always commented on how well cared for she looked.
She was very fond of the carers who looked after her and has never had a bad word about any one of them, always telling me they looked after her so well and treated her 100% with dignity. The staff are a credit to the minster Group.
My wish is that every member of staff knows how grateful I am. Thank you to you all.

Reply from Marion Parry, Manager at Eryl Fryn Nursing & Residential Home

Thank you for your words of support and gratitude. I will endeavour to let the staff know how grateful you are. Your mum was a lovely person with a great sense of humour and a pleasure to care for. She loved getting involved with both activities and chatting with the other residents and staff and will be missed. It was always a pleasure seeing you and your family when you visited your mum.

Overall, my experience is good, I feel that maybe there could be more staff on duty.
The questions that I ask staff are answered to the best of their ability.
There are a lot worse homes out there, I do not know of any better homes than Ty Cariad Dementia Care Centre.
The reception is always polite
and helpful.

My mum has been a resident for 3 and a half years and on the whole, I have been very pleased with the care given to Mum. She is well looked after and well fed, although due to Mum's condition, her diet is very much the same food daily, and I would like to see some variation in the menu for her.
The
staff are all welcoming and personable and make me feel very much at home when I am visiting. I would like less staff rotation, allowing the staff to stay in each house for longer. I feel that this would help with continuity of care for both the residents and their families.
The home is warm and clean and the laundry takes care of Mum's clothes well.
The administration and reception team are always pleasant and welcoming. They know me by name and my large family, including the dog!
I would like to thank Ty Cariad for all they do for Mum and my family.

My mother moved to the home just over 2 weeks ago. I really like that the home has been purpose-built - the rooms are spacious and mum has plenty of space in the lovely garden and home to move around. All the staff I've come across are friendly and caring. Mum apparently enjoys the activities (with
the new Activities Co-ordinator) which I'm really pleased about. Mum can be very difficult at times but the staff don't make a big drama about it - thanks! So far, I am very pleased.

Ty Cariad Dementia Care Centre

from Rachel O (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 29 March 2023

Awful management, certain members of staff and ‘nurses’. My grandmother had to be placed in Ty Cariad in September 2021 due to the family being unable to care for her following the loss of my daughter and my father within 2 months. She developed untreated sores all over which she never had in our care,
ulcers in her mouth and filthy teeth when we visited due to them not taking her false teeth out to clean. When we had our visit over Christmas one of the carers made us leave abruptly in the middle of feeding her even though we had been given extended time by the manager. He spoke to us awfully, if he speaks to families like that we hate to think how he speaks to the vulnerable who cannot stand up for themselves. We sent a complaint to the local council and they met us there for a meeting with the manager. They said they wouldn't have had worries seeing her but she had been cleaned up since they knew they were attending. The manager didn't attend the meeting. She sadly passed of covid after.

The team would like to pass on our sincere condolences to you and your family for your loss. We are deeply sorry to hear about your experience. Fairways Care was taken over on 8th April 22 and is now under new management. As a provider, we are highly experienced in providing elderly care and look forward to taking the homes into the next stage of their journey. There is a new home manager for the service who is keen and determined to ensure extremely high standards within the home are met. I assure you the care of our residents is our main priority and the home is in good hands.

Always looked unkempt. When I visit he is in a wheelchair with no footplates every time. Not in his own clothes.

Reply from Muireann, Home Manager at Eryl Fryn Nursing & Residential Home

I'm deeply sorry your experience did not meet your expectations and we take all feedback seriously. Your relative was gifted 2 new jumpers by a staff member as a Christmas present, so it may be you have seen one of these on him during the colder months. I would be happy to point these out to you when you are next visiting and if you would prefer he is dressed in alternative clothes then please let us know, we are more than happy to do so. We take extra precautions with laundry items so I can assure you the clothes he is dressed in are his. In relation to the wheelchairs, these have all been checked and form part of our monthly maintenance checks. I would like to invite you to have a meeting at your convenience to discuss your relative and any concerns closely but please be assured the care and well-being of our residents is always our principal priority.

When my mother first came to Ty Cariad she was not very happy and not at all affectionate, it was extremely difficult to communicate with her. She showed no interest, however, since coming to Ty Cariad, with the expert help of the carers, she is smiling, likes to be tactile and is so much happier. The
carers anticipate her needs and she connects with them. Beforehand, she had awful skin tissue problems and couldn't wear slippers but now she can. The staff are absolutely brilliant.

I am delighted with the care Dad gets from all the staff at Ty Cariad Dementia Care Centre. As a family, we wanted to look after Dad ourselves but this was sadly not meant to be. I'm even grateful for the care and support that is given to us as a family at a very difficult time. My only concern is activities.

Does have two people who are supposed to be there but never seen them.

Staff have done their best during COVID and not many with the illness. Not been able to visit without an appointment so confined to bedroom visits. But what I have seen of the property it is very old, tired and confined and needs a complete refurbishment, maybe a conservatory at the side to give patients
more room. The main entrance is straight to stairs and sitting area and toilets. Everyone comes through!

Reply from Jankee Patel, Estates Manager at Eryl Fryn Nursing & Residential Home

Thank you for taking the time to share this review with us. It’s reassuring to hear the infections have been low and residents are being well looked after. The home is an older home, sitting in a scenic landscape. We are currently looking into cosmetic refurbishment and our principal priority is to ensure this is completed with minimal disruption to the residents. Due to this being a live site, we are limited in the options for a full refurbishment. I will pass on your kind words about the staff to the home.
