Royston Court

from Susan G (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Our mother is currently a resident at Royston Court and has been for the past 3 years. The care she receives is wonderful! Staff are extremely patient and caring especially as mum can be a challenge at times. They work closely with the whole family and routinely keep us informed if mum is ill, needs
vaccinations, medical attention, etc. A new manager was appointed in 2024 and the changes she has made to the Care Home are beautiful! The small touches with soft furnishings, plants, pictures, etc. that make it so cosy and homely providing a stimulating environment for all the residents and also a lovely place for our family on our weekly visits. Something that always touches my heart is how ALL the staff are able to use each resident's first names and no matter what they're doing they will always stop and make time to speak with the resident and their family. This alone is pure gold in my opinion! I would highly recommend Royston Court and thank them for the amazing job they do every day.

Castlegreen Care Home

from Shona M (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 October 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

During mum's time at Castlegreen Care Home, every effort was made to ensure she was comfortable and at ease. Not only were meals, medication, laundry, and help with personal cleanliness etc., a priority but she got join activities and outings too. Whenever possible, the staff worked hard to make things
that were important to her, important to them. For instance, personalising her room, helping her spend a day in bed, when that's what she wanted, and striving to treat her with kindness, respect, and warmth. Any concerns we raised or requests we made, were swiftly addressed and when I couldn't be with her, I knew she was well cared for. At one point in her life, I remember mum saying, 'I just want to be me' and fortunately, there were SO many people in Castlegreen who valued her for being exactly that. I have no way to adequately express my gratitude - she could not have been anywhere better for the final months of her life. Thank you.

Ferrylee Care Home is where our auntie spent her last few months, we have to say that the care and compassion that the staff gave to our auntie was above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble the staff were very friendly and you could tell that they love the residents as if they were their own family
it has a very warm atmosphere. They made us feel very welcome, I don't think a lot of people realise just how hard they work and how dedicated they are to their job. All care homes should be like this one which puts the people first we are just so glad that our auntie came to this care home.

Ferrylee

from Clare C (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 April 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mum was a resident in Ferrylee from December 2022 until March 2024. I initially had reservations of the care home environment however my fears were soon alleviated upon arrival as my mum settled in quickly to her new home due to the loveliness of the staff who go out their way to make sure residents
do feel at home. The communal area is bright, welcoming and homely and residents usually gather here to take part in the many activities that staff arrange whether that be a movie, bingo, a sing-song, entertainment from the local school or dance group, there was always something going on. The menu is varied and of a good standard.
My mum had her challenges but they were met with respect, care, compassion and support.
The home is only as good as the people who work there and they were all fantastic in equal measure.
The only slight downside is the bedrooms are a wee bit small and no en-suite however a bath/shower was never a bother. I couldn't have asked for any more.

Our dear mum was a resident for over a year here. She was quite a challenge and quite a character. She passed away at the home after an illness.
All of Mum's family want to thank all the team at Royston for the loving care they showed Mum at all times and especially in her last days. They were a tremendous
support to us and we can’t thank them enough. What a caring professional team. Thank you.

My dad has been a resident since March 2020 when he was discharged from hospital to Ferrylee Care Home at the start of the first Covid lockdown, in reality, he could have landed anywhere but I'm so grateful he won the care home lottery with Ferrylee.
The staff are brilliant, caring and respectful.
They treat the residents with dignity and have become like family.
The environment is lovely and although the bedrooms are on the small side, the shared spaces are fantastic. It's not at all "institutional" and there are different areas for the residents to use, including quiet spots, social areas and a large common area for TV, movies or sing songs. The list of social activities is comprehensive with something for everyone.
There is plenty of variety on the menu and it's great to see my dad enjoying his food.
I honestly couldn't ask for more.

Mum moved in at the end of January 2023.
I found all the staff very polite and helpful, always willing to go the extra mile.
Mum has had problems settling in, but the staff have been understanding and patient.
I would love to give them all a big thank you, and I feel confident that Mum is being looked
after well.

Our mother has been a resident at North Merchiston care home since January 2020 and has received, and continues to receive, excellent care from the staff. Such care is valued by the family, particularly in such a challenging environment that has seen a high turnover of staff and resources at the home
and throughout the sector. We are particularly grateful for the support from those members of staff that have been there throughout mum's care and the stability this provides.

After an exceptionally difficult two years affected by Covid19 North Merchiston Care Home continues to provide a high level of care. The day-to-day care provided by the carers has always been good but has improved throughout this year. Activities are clearly enjoyed by the residents whether on or off-site.
And generally, all staff normally greet me with a genuine smile.

Dad has been in North Merchiston Care Home for almost 3 years now and continues to receive excellent care. The staff have got to know Dad really well, they appreciate his likes and dislikes and most importantly they treat him with dignity and respect. Dad is always well turned out - neatly dressed,
clean, shaven and has his hair cut regularly. He very much enjoys the food provided by the care home's kitchen - particularly puddings! Just recently we had a summer garden party in the grounds of the care home - lots of music, dancing, BBQ and ice cream - the staff had worked really hard to organise the event and it was lovely to see the residents and families out in the sun enjoying themselves and the whole place was buzzing with activity.

What an exceptional care home North Merchiston Care Home is. We are so lucky that mum was allocated a place there. She is so well looked after by all the amazing staff and she is happy and settled. The team there do amazing activities with the residents keeping them stimulated, happy and entertained.
They are all so attentive to mum and her needs which gives us such great peace of mind. Her room is like a little hotel room with a lovely en suite and her window overlooks the garden. I can't thank the staff enough - knowing mum is so well looked after is a huge amount of pressure off our shoulders. I want to put my name down for the future!

We feel so lucky to have mum at North Merchiston Care Home and know that she is safe and well looked after. Her room is lovely, as is the rest of the home and she has loved spending time in the garden when the weather has allowed. She is gently encouraged to participate in the various organised activities
but can spend time in her own space if she wished. All staff have been very caring and excellent at updating us and lovely to see mum's photo on the Facebook page at times.

My husband has settled in here very quickly and is well cared for and content. The staff have got to know him quickly and having assessed his needs tailor his care to suit him. The home is very welcoming and has a lovely bright, clean environment. His room is warm and homely with all his photos on display.
He always looks smart and well cared for. The staff are always aware of what is happening in the area and attend to residents' needs promptly. He is unable to verbally express his needs but the staff pick up on signs and seems to be able to assess and anticipate his needs. It has been lovely to see him out in the garden with the other residents enjoying any good weather. He has always been an active, outdoors person so they take him walking around the grounds when possible.

I am very satisfied with this care home.
I was dubious about having to have my father go into care, but I cannot fault the staff of Inch View; they are very caring and compassionate and keep you updated with what’s going on.
The rooms are a lovely size and very clean and tidy.
The level of care is
extremely good.
My father is comfortable, well-fed and very well looked after, and I would definitely recommend Inch View.
Today is my father's birthday, and they have done him a little birthday party with cake and a gift, which is lovely.
They have lots of activities and days out to keep the residents busy.
He hasn’t had many days out yet because of Covid and winter, but they really do have the resident's best interest at heart, and as I said, I do highly recommend this facility.

Staff have done an excellent job during this very difficult period, trying to keep residents spirits up and helping keep in touch with relatives.
Things are slowly getting back to normal and it is great to be able to visit my mum twice a week, really looking forward to being able to take her out again.
The
activities staff are making a special effort to get residents involved and it’s great to see pictures on Facebook.
The new manager has weekly Zoom calls which I find very informative.
