Galahill House

from C B (Son of Resident) published on 8 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Mother has been a resident at Galahill House for almost a year now. When she moved in she was a scared and helpless woman who suffered dreadful dreadful tension headaches brought on by anxiety. Since then she has come back to life again - she feels safe and confident and the headaches have completely
disappeared. I attribute this to the excellent care staff who treat her as an individual they are clearly fond of and teat with dignity and respect at all times. They put their sound values into action and maintain high standards which is not always easy ( I speak as a former Care Home Manager myself ). They are very good at helping her make informed choices in a way that is meaningful and pitched at an appropriate level for her. My Mum is thriving now and, having seen the way other residents with more advanced dementia are cared for, I feel great comfort in knowing that she will always receive superb care as her needs change. I would confidently recommend Galahill House to anyone.

A lovely little nursing home. There is many smiling faces and laughter. They emphasise that they work at the residents home. (Not the other way round). It is a real home for our grand mother. The rooms are sun lit. The patio is south facing and warm. We feel that mum is safe. Her weight and her energy
levels get monitored. We got a phone call when mum had a little tumble (once). The carers don't hesitate to call the GP if needed and organise medication very well.

My mum has been in Belleville for nearly 3 years now. She is well cared for and the staff make sure that she feels well cared for. Her personal demands are catered for- the way she wants her hair brushed, what colour she wants to wear, what she does and doesn't want to eat- things that are so important
in helping my mum remain as much as she can be in control of her life.
It's a friendly, happy environment. The staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient.
As a family, we know that this is the perfect place for mum.

mum has lived at Bellville since june 2024 and has settled in well mainly due to the warm, welcoming
caring atmosphere created by all the staff team .Mum has formed good relationships with many of the team all of whom seem to genuinely care for their residents . Staff team are great at keeping me
informed of any health issues and the 24-hour nursing care as well as access to the local GP and Advanced Practitioner Nurse is very reassuring. Mums room is lovely and she has been able to bring many of her own small pieces of furniture/pictures etc... the home and garden are well maintained and the garden especially is a great place to spend time outside . From the very first visit i have to say that I have felt very supported by the Manager and no request has been a problem . Thank you Belleville lodge for making a difficult transition so much easier !

This is the second review that I have submitted on behalf of my sister and me. Our Mum has now been in Belleville Lodge for 5 years and we are still very pleased with the care provided.
The home is kept spotlessly clean and has been redecorated recently which has provided a more modern touch. More
importantly the residents are immaculately dressed.
The manager provides a great example to the staff and is hands-on when needed.
Everyone who works at Belleville seems to care genuinely about the residents.
The carers are very attentive and are really cater to individual needs. The staff turnover is relatively low and this helps to build meaningful relationships. The nursing staff ensure that any medical needs are dealt with, preventing serious illnesses. This is particularly important and the relationships with the external medical practices seem strong.
The activities co-ordinators do a very good job in providing things to do in the home and arranging visits outside where possible.

Very happy with Bellville Lodge. The standard for everything is very high. The staff are brilliant and try their best include my mum in all of the activities. Management is great and nothing is too much trouble. I am happy in the knowledge that my mum is being well cared for and I don't need to worry
about anything. I am unable to comment on food and drink as mum has her own tube feed, but I am sure this will be in keeping with the high standards provided for everything else.

Belhaven House

from F T (Daughter of Resident) published on 11 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My mother entered Belhaven under emergency circumstances after a fall. Management went above and beyond to ensure a warm and welcoming environment to mum, and provided comfort to our family as well in very difficult circumstances.
Staff were quick to learn our names, and to get to know us as well
as mum. On visits we always noticed the staff interacting warmly with the residents, and any time we had a question or mum needed something, staff were always quick to respond.
The activities leader is a real delight, and works very hard to involve all the residents in the various events and activities she plans with great enthusiasm.
When mum had some health issues, steps were taken quickly, and family kept up to date with the measures being put in place.
Thank you to all at Belhaven for looking after mum so well.

Belhaven House

from B J (Brother of Resident) published on 5 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

After a fall in her home when my sister hit her head and following a visit by ambulance crew, I was advised by the medics that my sister should not be left alone for at least the next 24 hours. As both her daughters live overseas and I live in Glasgow, I was struggling to find a way to satisfy these
requirements. Fortunately Manager at Belhaven agreed to admit my sister under Emergency Respite Care. On entering Belhaven that evening, Belhaven staff immediately took my sister to her room and took care of her. When my sister entered Belhaven she was very confused (she had early stage dementia) and although the medics had cleaned my sister's wound, her hair was matted and her clothes were stained with blood. The next day when I visited she was looking great - staff had given her a full wash, her hair was clean and she was wearing fresh clothes.
I cannot praise the manager and her staff enough for the care and kindness provided to my sister.

Eildon House Nursing Home

from Hazel F (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I am so pleased that my father spent his final days at Eildon House. Unfortunately, due to his declining health, he passed away within weeks of moving in. The care he received during his short stay was excellent - the staff were very kind and managed all his care needs with attention to detail and compassion.
They kept me fully informed of his situation and supported me during my visits. The end-of-life care he received was provided with great respect and dignity. Eildon House is a well-maintained, comfortable and very welcoming care home; I was always greeted with a smile and an update on my arrival. My father's room was charming; clean, spacious, and full of light, with a fantastic view of the Edinburgh skyline. Based on my experience, I would not hesitate in recommending Eildon House to anyone seeking care for themselves or a loved one.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Mum moved into Belleville Lodge Nursing Home in 2023. She is now settled and loves the building, her room and the staff are all wonderful and very caring, food is exceptional.
Mum loves looking out into both the front and rear gardens, which are beautiful and well-kept. On a nice afternoon, some
of the residents are to be found in the garden with coffee/tea and cake.
Her health has improved since being in the care of Belleville.
Activities are organised, but I would like to see a few more being organised, I do think that actual games/activities should be organised 7 days a week (in the morning and afternoon).
One staff member is very supportive and has regularly gone the extra mile with my Mum when she is having a bad day. All the staff are very approachable and definitely want the best for the residents.
The first time I visited Belleville Lodge, both my cousin and I felt like we were being embraced in a warm cuddle. That feeling has never diminished.

Staff are all very much approachable and helpful. Staff always welcoming and many offers of a cuppa and treats baked mostly I believe by the kitchen cook. Invitations to events. Pinevilla is very well looked after in the sense of how clean it is kept. Could do with a few new pieces of furniture in the
dining room area. Lovely well-kept small garden. Where weather permitting residents and relatives and visitors can have a lovely relaxing time with loved ones. Good few events held out with the care home for residents who are able to attend these times out. Plus weekly indoor activities. Would like to see good ramp at main door for easier access in and out for residents in wheelchairs or special orthopaedic chairs. Residents have meetings for those able and willing to take part and have a voice. 6 monthly review meetings held by charge staff or Manager for I believe all residents which relatives attend. So keep up the excellent hard work you all do on a daily basis. Much appreciated.

Eildon is well run and the staff are courteous and caring. The accommodation is satisfactory and my wife has a comfortable bed and her person is clean. She is well-fed and shows no sign of weight loss. She is contented so far as can be judged but her communication is poor due to her dementia. I am satisfied
that Eildon is providing the best care available

Eildon House Nursing Home

from L M (Respite Resident) published on 23 August 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Our 90-year-old dad stayed at Eildon House for a 2-week respite stay. This was his first time in respite, so we were all nervous and a bit anxious. The manager and her staff were very supportive and gave us a lot of reassurance about respite care and our dad's adjustment to his 'holiday room'.
During
his stay, we found he was more alert and engaged during our visits. We managed to get him out several times during his stay to a local cafe something which has been difficult when at home.
The staff were always friendly and approachable. Eildon's House had a lovely homely feel about it, it was clean and the room my dad had was fantastic, bright, and airy with wonderful views of the Castle.
It was also lovely to see the residents doing their yoga exercises and getting pampered by the hairdressers.
Although there is a lack of garden space you are close to the Botanic Gardens for a trip out. We will definitely consider another respite stay in the future.
