Care Homes Owned by Erskine Veterans Charity

  • Care Homes Owned by Erskine Veterans Charity
Erskine is Scotland's leading veterans charity. The organisation's mission is to provide its residents with the best possible care and to support them to achieve maximum quality of life. Erskine strives to care for as many members of the wider ex-Service community as possible and will continue its work for as long as the need is there.

Excellence is the watchword. Each of the Erskine Homes is different but all enjoy the highest possible standards of care, with modern purpose-built accommodation and, just as importantly, motivated and well trained staff.

There are two Erskine homes: one near the Erskine Bridge in Renfrewshire and one in Edinburgh.

Erskine's strength lies in the commitment staff show to ensuring that the care and support offered to residents and their families meets their very individual needs.

My gran has been a resident here for over two years and sadly now is receiving end-of-life care.
The care she is getting is second to none, the staff are so attentive to both her needs and the family's.
The facilities that are on offer here at Erskine, for both residents and families are 5-star.

My father was a resident in Rivers for 5 years suffering from Alzheimer’s. The care he/we received from everyone at Erskine Edinburgh Home was exemplary. It was an extremely difficult time for our family as we slowly watched our Dad/Husband slip away. As we all came to terms with losing him in mind
but not body and had no idea how long he would stay in that state. Our family were comforted by the excellent care he was receiving and the fact that he was in such good hands. We visited regularly and became part of the Family in Rivers. As Dad got worse they adjusted effortlessly to the next step in his care. This weekend Dad finally broke free of the prison that was Alzheimer’s and passed. Erskine Home once again were there supporting us and Dad right up to the very end and beyond. We can not thank them enough for being there for our family for the whole journey.

I would highly recommend Erskine care home, my dad went in there two and a half years ago and he felt right at home. From the minute he entered the premises, the staff were all extremely caring and couldn't do enough for dad while in their care.
I can't thank them enough for all the care and attention
they gave dad. The rooms were lovely, they had great entertainment and day trips. A great atmosphere, staff were always laughing and keeping the residents going. I can't give it enough praise. Thank you Erskine Home, you're amazing.

My dad has been in Ramsay house for over three years and the staff are amazing. He is looked after on a first-class basis. I would highly recommend the high care they give their residents. My dad is so happy being looked after there, which makes our family pleased. Rooms are clean and the grounds are
well maintained.

The care my friend received at Erskine Edinburgh Home was superb, above and beyond the call of duty. His room, meals, care, social life in their care were all first class. The staff and carers are just wonderful. My friend enjoyed and loved the time he spent there which was a tremendous relief to friends
and family.

My mum passed away last Monday in the care and comfort of Yarrow House. I cannot express how grateful my sister and I are for the care and kindness my mother received by all the staff while she was a resident.
My thanks to everyone including the ladies in Harry’s Cafe.

My parents have been in Haig House since the end of November and the level of care they have received has been of the highest standard. The staff are kind and thoughtful and have encouraged my parents to enjoy the daily activities. Communication is excellent, and our family can't thank the staff enough.

Erskine Home should be a benchmark for care of the elderly. My experience of The Erskine Home was over an 18 month period while Dad was a resident in Yarrow House where his room was always clean and tidy. The care he received throughout his stay was excellent, I could not have asked for anything better.
The staff were so professional, patient and caring and nothing was too much bother for them. I was always kept up-to-date, by telephone, when there was any change to Dad's condition so there were no surprises when I visited. Knowing Dad was safe and being well cared for 24 hours a day gave me great peace of mind. It was wonderful to be able to take Dad to Harry's Cafe and for him to have the physiotherapy suite, hairdresser and podiatrist all on-site. An all-around first class home.

I am always thankful to the staff on their overall genuine care they give to my husband and their support to me especially when there is a down day.
The decoration of bright colours of orange/yellows/reds and creams in their sitting/dining room is lovely for the residents and visitors. The friendliness
from the reception as you enter goes a long way to make this care home a very pleasant place to be.

I recommended Erskine Edinburgh Home for a friend who was struggling to care for her 97-year-old mum at home. Within three weeks of putting her name on the waiting list, a bed became available. Although my friend was only in the Erskine for just over three months, she was treated with dignity and the
utmost respect.

Particular thanks to the staff of Craiglockhart House, for the excellent care and dignity shown not just to my friend but all the family, especially in the last three days of her life - your kindness will never be forgotten! I will always recommend Erskine Edinburgh Home to anyone requiring nursing home care.

An excellent facility with caring staff who are well trained and managed. Lines of communication for families are clearly indicated and all requests and suggestions are quickly carried out. The level of care and communication between residents and staff is first class.
Without exception, the staff
are friendly. Positive and fully committed - often in very challenging circumstances.

I cannot describe the many sleepless nights I had before selecting a home for my dad. All the fears and anxieties melted away when he became a resident in Edinburgh Erskine home. The care, support and friendship is exceptional and this goes throughout the organisation at every level. There is always
a positive atmosphere and a lot of laughter and it often feels that staff, residents and their families are just one big family and this provides invaluable comfort and support.
It is wonderful to think that men and women who gave so much are treated with dignity, respect and warmth making them feel wanted and valued.
I cannot thank everyone at Erskine enough.

During his stay (Dec 16 - Jan 17) Dad and our family received excellent care from staff in Red Cross House and the wider staff of Erskine Care Home. The staff were skilled in their varied roles and responsibilities. The direct care staff showed empathy, were anticipatory of Dad's care needs, active
in dealing with his health concerns and enabling in promoting Dad to be as participatory in activities as he was able. We can say honestly that all staff we encountered were helpful, attended to our requests promptly and offered a high standard of care. As Dad’s health deteriorated this was raised with us openly and sensitively, allowing us as a family to make decisions in accordance with Dad’s wishes and what we felt was best for Dad as he neared the end of his life. The care environment was calming and peaceful. We thank all staff across the home (including but not limited to Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Harry’s Café staff) who offered excellent cheerful service to us all.

From the management to the carers, everyone is so hands on. Nothing is too much bother. To watch your loved one change before your eyes is very hard to understand but the staff are always there to help you cope. I couldn't ask for a better "gang" of people to look after my beloved husband. Thank you.

I am visiting from the USA to spend time with my 91 year old brother in the dementia wing. I had visited him 6 months ago when he was in a private care home and was worried about his well-being. But no such worries here. He is so much more brighter and so well-groomed. It is a pleasure for me to see
a huge smile of his face whenever a carer attends to him and to see the encouragement and support he receives from all the care and activities staff. It has been truly inspirational for me to witness the joy that you bring into the lives of our veterans. Thank you.

My father has been a resident for the last three years, it was his wish when his dementia got worse that he wanted to be admitted to Erskine House. He has been very happy in this home, he will be 100 years old in March. He thinks it is the best home in Scotland and I have to agree with him. He is well
cared for, his accommodation is excellent, staff are very friendly and take good care of him. The food is very good and they are entertained well also. I am wanting to put my name down on their list.

My mother has been in The Erskine Home for approximately 3 years. She is very happy and her room is lovely. If I have a complaint, it is dealt with straight away. Everyone is nice and friendly and the recreation staff are first class. Mum is happy with the food and the meetings between staff and family
is very interesting (They try hard). Good environment and a lovely place to stay and visit. Also 'Harry's Cafe' is a great place and staff are great too. Some of the care staff need more training.
