I would highly recommend Cumbrae House Care home for the helpful staff who provide a high level of care but go the extra mile ensuring the residents feel part of the community and encouraging them to take part in the activities provided. I have also witnessed the senior staff spend time with the residents
encouraging them to mix with newer residents helping them settle in and feel part of the Care Home community. This provides relatives with the reassurance that their loved ones feel safe and are cared for as individuals.

Everyone takes care of my gran so well that I have no worries she's been taken care of. We all have such a great laugh when we are visiting with the staff. My gran is so settled and loves it and loves all the staff.

Chester Park Care Home

My Mum was a short-term resident at Chester Park Intermediate Care Unit, having been discharged from GRI when her condition deteriorated.
Despite being not very responsive and unable to care for herself, the care and attention she received from the ICU staff was outstanding, as was the empathy and
understanding shown to me and our family.
It was made clear that nothing was too much trouble and it was a huge comfort seeing my Mum’s dignity and respect being maintained during her stay.
The ICU team was extremely caring, accommodating, and professional in their work. I could see the interactions with other residents and all were very happy, well-treated, and looked after. The residents were very communicative and satisfied with their environment, with the food supplied and entertainment provided.
It was humbling to speak with the lady in charge of it and her team and see how determined they were to do their best for all residents and relatives and they deserve nothing but the highest praise and respect.

I was told to contact the owner in regards to the passing of my aunt who was a resident there. When arrived at the home. We were met by staff who were very polite. The home itself was spotless, very neat and tidy. When we met the owner she was very polite and was able to tell me some of the stories
regarding my aunt and the antics that she would get up to with members of staff who helped look after her. We asked the owner if it would be possible to see how big the room was that my aunt's but as another resident had moved into that room, she showed us another room that had the same layout as my aunt's. The room was spacious clean tidy and very homely.

Cumbrae House Care Home

My Mum moved into Cumbrae House straight from the hospital. This was intended to be a short temporary placement until our preferred home became available. Immediately we felt at home. From the manager to admin staff, carers, domestics, and entertainment coordinators we were shown compassion, care, and
professionalism at this very emotional time for my mum and my family. We had Mum's 6-week review and were so impressed by the care we agreed my mum's stay should be permanent. In a few months, my Mum seemed to settle in and was less anxious, well looked after, and safe. We could go home knowing she was being cared for well. She was encouraged to join in with the numerous activities available from Valentine’s Day, bingo, and summer fete. Her medical care was coordinated with the nursing staff and a local GP and any changes in my Mum’s condition were acted upon quickly. The care and compassion shown at her end-of-life care will never be forgotten. Thank you.

Cumbrae house was welcoming from the outset. During very difficult circumstances my dad and the family were fully informed and supported. The staff were available and always happy to discuss dad's progress and care. They planned care well as his needs changed during his stay. He was a challenging resident
with varying needs which were addressed with understanding and compassion. Pleased to see the same staff throughout his stay. All staff members from the manager, nurses, carers, housekeeping, domestics and admin staff were kind and considerate. They were friendly and always made you feel welcome. A busy environment they showed patience even during very difficult circumstances. Dad received residential, nursing and palliative care from staff who really did care. Thank you to you all just does not seem enough.

All staff were very caring with my brother, and also showed great respect during his stay there.
Always checking on him, making sure he was comfortable as his illness took hold.
Thanks to all staff for the respect and dignity you showed to him and to the family.

My mum went to Cumbrae house for a week's respite. I took my mum the week before for a visit to see the place we were both very impressed with how lovely and clean the place was and the manager was very helpful. Mum's week was great she has told everybody who comes into the house she enjoyed her time
there, an absolute bonus I was so happy and I didn't worry about her when I was on holiday it's a great wee place. The staff are all brilliant from cleaners, to carers and management I would thoroughly recommend this home. Thanks to the manager for keeping this well organised and run and the manager also organised Mum to have her papers every morning as she loves her papers. Hopefully, next holiday I go I will be asking for Mum to go here for respite. Thanks.

Oakview Manor Care Home

from Jonathan R (Son of Resident) published on 21 March 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My father was a resident at Oakview Manor for the final 2 months of his life. He had dementia and had been in and out of 6 other care homes or hospitals. Oakview was by far the best care home. The staff without exception were very caring and attended to his needs at all times. His room was always clean
and tidy and he enjoyed the food on offer. His bad skin condition improved significantly as he was bathed daily and lotions regularly applied. Although he had lost interest in most activities, the activities staff made a great effort to try to engage with him and got some response. In the end, one member of staff attended to his last requests, made him comfortable and he thankfully passed away peacefully. Our whole family would like to thank all the staff at Oakview for all the wonderful kindness and care provided to my father. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone needing care in old age.

We were very happy with the care our mum received at Chester Park. The staff were friendly and welcoming on her arrival and kind and caring during her stay. Unfortunately, her room was in need of refurbishment and the bathroom was unsuitable for patient rehabilitation as it lacked a shower and made
mobility difficult. There was a very strong smell of urine in the bathroom.

Cumbrae House Care Home

from R H (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 22 December 2023

Cumbrae House staff have been so supportive and caring towards my Gran since becoming a resident in 2019. We can tell that Gran was comfortable and happy living in Cumbrae House. I know that the staff did everything they could to make it a happy and pleasant experience for her. The staff were really
interested in Grans likes and dislikes and went out of their way to provide experiences that she would enjoy. The care home Manager has made everything easier and is always happy to answer questions. The staff nurse is such a lovely caring person and we can tell that she actually really cared for Gran. It's clear this is more than a job for her. All the staff are friendly and so lovely to their residents. Even the cleaning staff made an effort to be kind to residents and I know all the staff went out of their way to make Gran happy.
I'm so glad that Gran was in such a loving and caring environment for the last few years of her life. Thank you for everything you have done for us.

My mum was admitted to Cumbrae House late this year and the staff couldn’t have been any more helpful and sympathetic to the situation our family found ourselves in unexpectedly.
Everyone went above and beyond to help her settle in and keep us updated.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone considering
a care home.

I lost my dad quite suddenly in November, my mum has Alzheimer’s and although she had daily home care visits he looked after her.
I had to very quickly arrange for Mum to be looked after which was a difficult decision to make in the midst of planning Dad’s funeral.
After reviewing the care facilities
in our area we arrived at Cumbrae House where we met the home manager, her honesty, guidance and help will forever be a debt that I cannot possibly pay.
My mum is now being looked after in Cumbrae House by the most amazing people, her room is just like home.
From the staff who go the extra mile to the great events that they host for the residents, the manager and the team just keep surprising me with how much care they deliver to every resident.

My mother in law was in the Intermediate Care Unit for over 4 weeks. All of the staff were friendly, professional, made her visitors feel welcome and took great care of her. She enjoyed all of her meals, having a cuppa with family in the tv lounge or the cafe and getting fresh air in the gardens.

Mum moved here straight from hospital and was upset and apprehensive about the move.
The manager and the staff were great, after a couple of days mum settled, actually quite enjoying her time there. Mum was well looked after, the care she received was second to none. The staff were kind and patient
with her, from staff at the cafe making sure she got her favourite treat (hot chocolate /extra whipped cream) to the reception/office staff stopping for a chat. The staff involved with Mum were beyond excellent, always chatting and making her laugh (a few staff members were outstanding and I felt confident Mum was getting the best care possible). The ladies who run the activities were lovely to her too. She has now moved in with me but Mum really loved the staff and her time at Oakbridge. This is a lovely place, very well run with the highest standards of respect and dignity in dealing with residents.

Cumbrae House Care Home

from Christina M (Sister of Resident) published on 14 June 2023

When tasked with finding suitable nursing care for our brother (who is only 66) we knew it wasn't going to be easy. We started with a long list, and every day the list became shorter and the task harder, as we crossed names off one by one.
When we arrived at Cumbrae House Care Home, we felt something
a little different. When we left we booked a return visit with our brother. When we left the second time we threw away the list.
From those initial first impressions, till today (our brother's 4-week review), we've encountered excellence on every level. We're super impressed with the professional, compassionate and friendly nursing care.
Our brother is settled, cared for and is absolutely thriving on the attention he receives at Cumbrae House. The Manager impressed us on day one, and now on day 28, we can honestly say from our own experiences and our brother's, that we made the right decision. Our expectations are exceeded and all worries are put to bed. Thank you, thank you and thank you again.

My mum moved to the intermediate care unit after a prolonged hospital stay. A very sad, scared lady in a lot of pain.
The manager and her staff have shown my mum (and our family) so much kindness as she adjusted to her move. The care staff are absolutely wonderful and have gone above and beyond to
make my mum feel relaxed and happy. Physiotherapists and podiatrists have worked to improve her mobility, and the visiting GP has quickly dealt with any issues that have arisen. Mum is now due to leave to go to her permanent care home, and she asked me if she could just stay in the unit at Oakbridge! We can’t thank the team enough for everything they have done in rehabilitating Mum.

It was very difficult for me to accept that Mum needed to go into care due to my poor health and work commitments. I found the staff to be very empathetic and reassuring, and Mum, herself, cannot praise the care and food enough. I am so grateful to have found this a success for my mum and myself.
