Amazing staff! Take very good care of my mum and keep me updated as much as possible. Staff take the time to get to know the family too and is a warm and welcoming environment. Extremely grateful for the care and love my mum receives.

The staff are great. The building is a bit tired, the car park can be a bit of a nightmare, the temperature in the room is too warm 28 degrees, the toilet pan is also loose and trouble flushing could do with a wee freshening up.

Reply from Cassie Dunbar, Marketing coordinator at Greyfriars Care Centre

My mum was in Greyfriars from Oct to April 2022. She was admitted for end-of-life palliative care. Mum was bedridden and totally dependent on the staff in the home. We were promised she would have staff with her throughout the day keeping her stimulated. She was to be included in activities for example
getting her nails painted or someone reading to her. None of this ever happened. Staff was only with mum to wash and change her, other than that she was left on her own. Mum's positional changes were regularly late and she developed a bed sore after just 2 weeks. Her catheter was emptied into the basin used for washing her. The en-suite bathroom had no hot running water for over 2 months. The window catches never worked. Repairs were promised and never carried out. Mum was too frail to be moved to another care home. I would not recommend Greyfriars if your family member is bedridden. Mum was out of sight out of mind.

Reply from Care Service Director, Keane Premier Healthcare at Greyfriars Care Centre

We are extremely sorry that your experience at Greyfriars care home was not a positive experience; this is not the standard which we strive to achieve. Following your mum's passing, a formal complaint had been raised regarding your mum's care, a thorough investigation had been completed and we sent you a detailed response. Within this response, we highlighted areas for improvement which had been identified, lessons learned and our intended actions. I would like to thank you for raising these concerns and we welcome any feedback from residents or their family members, both positive and negative, as this feedback enables us to analyse areas of care and improve our service.

My father moved to Greyfriars Care Centre for two weeks of respite care while his long term care needs were being assessed. The manager and the staff were great, keeping me updated on how my dad was getting on and they looked after him very well. He looked better after just 2-days and they were very
helpful as I made arrangements to move him to a care home nearer to me for his long term care.

I would like to say how happy we are that our Dad is in Ashton Grange. All of the staff are fantastic, really caring and kind not only to our Dad but to us as a family. The staff are welcoming, so friendly and treat Dad with such dignity, respect and make him laugh which is great for us. I would like
particularly mention the Home Manager, Deputy Manager, Nurse and Senior Carer for their outstanding support to our Dad and to our family in what has been a very challenging time for us. The home is also very clean, all staff including care, cleaning and cooking staff are just so welcoming and kind. In my job, I have been in and out of many care homes and this is the best one I have seen.

What can I say? Outstanding. Caring staff. Dad is always immaculately dressed. The staff ALWAYS go the extra mile for him and us. They have not just made him feel welcome but us too. Their job is incredibly hard but they always have a smile on their face and nothing is too much trouble. We are so happy
that dad is here. We couldn't have asked for a better home for him. We know that dad is well looked after and happy by the lovely caring staff. I can't thank them enough for everything they do.

I have found that the staff are so good and caring in this care home. They should each get a medal for all their efforts. It is the little things that make the difference and they do a lot for the residents and their families.

My father was in Ashton Grange for a weeks respite. While he was there I felt the staff got to know him really well and gained a good understanding of his likes and dislikes, i.e. getting to stay in bed a bit longer in the morning and also that he was sometimes happier in his room watching TV rather
than in the lounge.
He really enjoyed his meals and said there was always a varied menu.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly and Dad informed me that he had been cared for with respect and dignity.
The home is very clean, decor a little tired but at the end of the day the good care given here is far more important than the surroundings.

While my mother was a resident the staff were always very kind to her and took good care of her and her needs. They also supported me and my sisters during these difficult times. I liked to think the staff became our friends at this time. I have told a number of people how good I thought this care home
was.

My mum is settled and seems happy. Recently I have noticed that the big TV in the lounge area has not been on as much and music has been playing. I feel this is better. Why not ask families and residents about their favourite music?
It's a pity that there is no secure outdoor space. My mum loved her
garden and I feel if she could go outdoors, safely, this would make her happier. The installation of a fence and lockable gate could be possible - cost?

Reply from Leena Domun, Home Manager at Greyfriars Care Centre

We are planning to upgrade the garden area with fencing and make it a safe and secure environment to enable our service users to use the facility. We are looking into activities and playlist for service users that would be meaningful.

Since day one, my aunt had received the best care and attention that I and my family could have wished for.
From the very beginning, she was clearly in the best hands - they knew her individually and what was best for her right from the start. All the staff made us feel very welcome when visiting
and the lines of communication were always open so we could phone them but were also safe in the knowledge that they would contact us with updates.
They kept a very close eye on her eating and drinking and would modify this to meet her needs.
Unfortunately, she passed away while under their care, but my sister-in-law has worked in many hospices and could not praise their end of life care any higher. Music was played in the room and it was clear she was never alone, but they also understood that we as a family loved my aunt and cared for us as well so they aided us too in her final days.
We honestly can not praise Ashton Grange and their staff highly enough. Thanks for everything.

My brother has been resident in Ashton Grange since Jul and is receiving very card care and attention. He is very happy and content there. The staff are kind and pleasant. The home is warm and clean and doesn't have a smell, which is important on entering the building.
Having viewed several care homes
I find Ashton Grange to be a very good care home.

I was apprehensive before entering a care home. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the level of care and compassion shown by the nursing staff in Ashton Grange care home. They are full of fun and enjoy a laugh and a joke which adds to the good feeling about the home. Nothing is too much bother for
them.
