Professional staff who are caring and considerate to meet the needs of my mother. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The home is clean, tidy and well-maintained. Food is good with plenty of options. Staff keep the family well informed regarding care and how my mom is settling into the new environment.
Mom's security is excellent. My only note for improvement would be that all staff should wear name badges to help my mum remember as she has bad dementia.

Brookfield

from John S (Relative of Resident) published on 20 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

When a loved one is no longer able to live at home and it's apparent they need to live in a dedicated caring environment where their health and well-being is prioritised, it's an extraordinarily difficult decision for all involved. Fortunately, we were introduced to the team at Brookfield who have looked
after and continue to care for our much loved Mum (and Gran) treating her with dignity, respect, love and compassion. The staff work tirelessly to meet Mum's needs - which can at times be quite challenging - responding to every request as and when required. After years of living alone, worrying about her safety and well-being, it's such a relief to know she is safe, secure & being so well cared for. We would like to thank the entire team at Brookfield. Words alone cannot express our gratitude.

Reply from Melanie Brockway, Brand & Communications Manager at Brookfield

What a wonderful review. It's so heartening to hear how the dedicated team at Brookfield are not only giving the great care and service, with dignity, respect and love we expect but that moving into the home has taken your difficult decision to a point of peace of mind for your dear Mum's safety and wellbeing. This is exactly what we strive for in all our homes. It means the world to read how we are making the difference in the lives of our residents and their families. Thank you again for taking the time to write your review. We will be sure to pass on your words to our hardworking team.

The Glens Care Home

from Maureen C (Friend of Resident) published on 18 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My husband and I have had the most wonderful afternoon while visiting a friend with dementia. There was a gentleman there who played a keyboard and sang songs that the residents recognised and sang along to. The staff are just so brilliant had them all clapping and waving their arms then some of the
more able were up dancing. The staff are so much fun and very affectionate to each of them. Each time we visit we are given a cup of tea and biscuits. I have to say we were very impressed at how well each resident was dressed and hair done nicely. I would not hesitate to give the care home a first class review.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My Mum has been here almost a year now. She settled in straight away and the staff are amazing. They are all very friendly and always have a smile for everyone and make me feel very welcome when I visit.
I get regular updates on my mum's health and they inform me straight away if there's been a health
problem with Mum and I can phone and talk to staff or my Mum at any time.
Mum enjoys the food and regular outings in her wheelchair. There's a garden to sit out in when the weather's nice and lots of indoor activities on a regular basis. The rooms are lovely and the other residents all seem happy and content. I have visited a lot of care homes over the years and this has to be the best one by far.

My experience is first Class. My husband and I recently celebrated our Diamond Anniversary and I can only say the management and staff went out of their way to make it absolutely fabulous. They could not do enough for us. I was so overwhelmed with their effort to make it special for us. I visit almost
every day and I can only say it as it is. The staff go all the way to make this a comfortable and loving home. If I have a complaint it would be that they would make it even better with some more staff. As it is they are a first class team and I personally do not know what I would do without them.

It's fair to say reviewing a home is not easy, even unfair while a care crisis continues, fund shortages, increased costs, exasperated by carer shortages, no matter how good, it's not home. People enter care for all reasons, fundamentally it's because they can't be cared for at home. Our sister for
respite. Our reaction re. care reports was "no" but it was recommended we should give them a chance. They were honest re. past issues, progress being made, no glossing over historic issues. We are happy to say our sister was well looked after, comfortable and respected, Staff friendly with queries dealt with. Sadly it was not the long-term place for her, but we had complete peace of mind while a home was found. One niggle, most residents choose to remain in their rooms, our sister too, meaning call buttons seemed to go off regularly which must be wearing for staff and residents. Do not be afraid to give them a chance as they continue on an upwards trajectory of being a very good care home!

Thank you so much for writing your review for us. It's really helpful and important to read, what is obviously, an informed and frank perspective on the challenges faced in the sector, and doesn't, like our discussions with yourself, shirk from the difficulties that can take place. In that context, to then read how happy you have been with your sister's care, despite, as you say, not being her long-term home, is even more encouraging and throws the dedication of our team into stark relief. That you received honesty and transparency, had complete peace of mind, and your sister was well looked after, comfortable and respected, says everything, and is exactly what we strive for. Thank you once again for taking the time to write this - we will make sure your review is passed on to our hardworking staff.

My brother with cerebral palsy and communication issues moved in in November. I have nothing but praise for all the staff, the home, the welcome they have given him, the ambience and attitude. I am so grateful for all they are offering him. His quality of life has rocketed. God bless them all.

Review of

Alastrean Care Home

from J S (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum was only here for a few short months but the whole team took such great care of her. Mum had issues with mobility and communication and she was often frustrated, but the manager and the team took time to help with this.
I live overseas and the communication was really good, they facilitated video
calls to us and were proactive about any changes.
Mum loved to get her hair and nails done and this was easy to organise.
The setting of the property is just lovely with views from every window.
Friends and family and four-legged friends were welcomed.
Staff were easy to talk to, everyone knew Mum and we were encouraged to contribute to the care plan.
When Mum died the care and communication were excellent.

Luncarty Care Home

My mum moved in a couple of weeks ago and is settling in fine. It's a really friendly peaceful atmosphere and the staff are pampering her, doing her nails and making sure she's happy.
The place looks great as does the grounds. I'm trying to think of something negative to say about the place but I
can't so well done.

St Ronans Care Home

from Jacqueline C (Niece of Resident) published on 10 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Since my Uncle has been a resident in St Ronans we both have been very impressed. There is a genuine feeling of care and attention delivered to both myself and my uncle. They see to all of his needs as well as promote the limited independence he has left. He enjoys the food and the numerous events he
attended in and out of the home. He has been encouraged to personalise his room with furniture etc. from his house. He enjoys company and has plenty of interactions throughout the day. He says he loves it here.

Review of

Pitlochry Care Home

from M K (Mother of Resident) published on 10 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

The home seems more relaxed and happier, with staff having more time for the residents. The new management is very pleasant and easy to talk to.
There is more entertainment for the residents, and there’s always more to do.
My son has had a stroke and is happy in Balhousie, but he could use help with
his speech, as he gets frustrated because he's not walking - his legs are not good. A big difference, and it's for the better.
