Antiquary Care Home

from Pat M (Wife of Resident) published on 9 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

From the first day my husband moved into Antiquary House Care Home the staff made us both feel very welcome and since I have been coming in on a regular basis and my husband is settling. I am getting to know the carers and nursing staff. I have also spoken to the manager who is very helpful which makes
this awful time more bearable for myself. All I want is for my husband to be kept clean, fed and safe. The room is very airy and kept clean.

I have to say I was very apprehensive about my mum being in care. An initial hiccup was dealt with professionally.
Mum has been at the Glen's for 17 months now and she has blossomed.
The dedication of all the staff from manager to floor staff is outstanding. Every member of staff are friendly, and
seem to genuinely care for Mum and all the other residents.
The home is always clean, residents look happy and there are always laughter and smiles.
I can honestly say I appreciate every member of staff for all their hard work and enthusiasm.
I couldn't ask for more for Mum, she is safe, comfortable and genuinely looks content.
I don't have to worry about her when I leave. I wish I could name all the staff but there isn't enough room they are wonderful people though.
Thank you each and everyone of you.

Brookfield

from Lynda H (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Brookfield Care Home caters for 20 residents which makes it very cosy and has a family home feel to it. There is a great sense of humour between staff and residents which resonates throughout the home and makes it a very happy place to be. The staff take their duties very seriously and care deeply
for every resident's safety, health and wellbeing yet fill their days with fun and laughter which is so important. The Home is in a very quiet residential area but the High Street is easily accessed within five minutes. The grounds are perfect for walks, sitting in the sun, or watching the wildlife. Brookfield has a lovely, warm feeling to it and my Mother has been very happy and well cared for there for three years. I can not recommend it highly enough .

Mum moved here in August 2024, my Dad was also a resident here previously so we already knew that the care offered was excellent. It took mum a wee while to settle down and staff have been wonderful. Nothing is a problem and they are very attentive to both Mum and myself & my sisters should we need
help with anything. . They are very friendly & approachable. There is a range of activities available to mum should she want to participate. I believe the food is very good and I know mum enjoys the home-bakes! Mums room is very nice and always very clean and tidy.

My sister has been a service user arriving at Antiquary in November 2023 as her original service accommodation was damaged in the floods. We originally had some doubts about my sister being there. However, after raising our concerns, we plan in regular meetings with the management and care/nursing staff,
enabling us to iron out any issues we had.
All the staff are brilliant with my sister, regardless of which department they work in, they all take the time to speak with sister.
My sister recently moved to a bigger and brighter room which has had an immediate impact on day to day mood. The activities have improved massively, involving all the service users regardless of ability/disability, it's great to see the photographs of my sister being happy and smiling. Some of the service users are so friendly and enjoy a wee chat, which I am more than happy to do. Overall I am very happy, knowing my sister is being cared for well, well done to the new management and all the team.

Antiquary Care Home

from Jill G (Daughter of Resident) published on 27 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Antiquary became part of my life from September 2017 when my dad moved into Westway. The staff became part of the family, providing first-class care to my dad. Despite his decline with dementia, my dad was the happiest I had seen him in many years. This was due to the commitment and care of the staff.
During that time, all the staff were extremely welcoming to my mother - inviting her to stay for meals, and participate in the games, or social events when she visited my dad. My mother's transition to moving into Antiquary in June 2018, went smoothly due to the care home feeling like a second home to her. My dad passed in August 2019, compassionately cared for by Antiquary staff. During the Covid years, the staff went above and beyond their remits, keeping residents entertained. I have witnessed many changes over those years, some good, some not so good, due to changes in management. Overall, my opinion of Antiquary is positive, with my mother continuing to receive first-class care.

My mother has been in Antiquary for several years now suffering from Dementia. She is bed bound. Even though we live close to the care home and visit regularly the nursing staff still phone me regularly with updates on Mum's well being. They monitor and are willing to share key details of Mum's health
with us when requested. They have a good relationships with the local GP, Mental Health Team, Dentist and other services to make sure all aspects of care are dealt with in the best possible way.
The carers are amazing and bring a smile to Mum's face when they are with her. Mum needs care for every aspect of her life now including feeding and drinking and everything I have seen says this is done with compassion and dignity.
One last thing, the care home provided Mum with an Alexa. This allows us to provide Mum with music she enjoys through Spotify. It is a small thing but music is perhaps the only thing left for Mum to enjoy.

When a loved one is no longer able to live at home and it's apparent they need to live in a dedicated caring environment where their health and well-being is prioritised, it's an extraordinarily difficult decision for all involved. Fortunately, we were introduced to the team at Brookfield who have looked
after and continue to care for our much loved Mum (and Gran) treating her with dignity, respect, love and compassion. The staff work tirelessly to meet Mum's needs - which can at times be quite challenging - responding to every request as and when required. After years of living alone, worrying about her safety and well-being, it's such a relief to know she is safe, secure & being so well cared for. We would like to thank the entire team at Brookfield. Words alone cannot express our gratitude.

Reply from Melanie Brockway, Brand & Communications Manager at Brookfield

It's so heartening to hear how the dedicated team at Brookfield are not only giving the great care and service, with dignity, respect and love we expect but that moving into the home has taken your difficult decision to a point of peace of mind for your dear Mum's safety and wellbeing. This is exactly what we strive for in all our homes. It means the world to read how we are making the difference in the lives of our residents and their families. Thank you again for taking the time to write your review. We will be sure to pass on your words to our hardworking team.

My husband and I have had the most wonderful afternoon while visiting a friend with dementia. There was a gentleman there who played a keyboard and sang songs that the residents recognised and sang along to. The staff are just so brilliant had them all clapping and waving their arms then some of the
more able were up dancing. The staff are so much fun and very affectionate to each of them. Each time we visit we are given a cup of tea and biscuits. I have to say we were very impressed at how well each resident was dressed and hair done nicely. I would not hesitate to give the care home a first class review.

My Mum has been here almost a year now. She settled in straight away and the staff are amazing. They are all very friendly and always have a smile for everyone and make me feel very welcome when I visit.
I get regular updates on my mum's health and they inform me straight away if there's been a health
problem with Mum and I can phone and talk to staff or my Mum at any time.
Mum enjoys the food and regular outings in her wheelchair. There's a garden to sit out in when the weather's nice and lots of indoor activities on a regular basis. The rooms are lovely and the other residents all seem happy and content. I have visited a lot of care homes over the years and this has to be the best one by far.
