My father was admitted to the Adelaide with a stage 4 brain tumour. His love from our home to the care home was perfectly managed; with care, consideration for his feelings and the least amount of stress. The Adelaide may not be as shiny and new as purpose-built homes, but we couldn't have asked for
a better team or level of care for my dad. He was made to feel instantly at ease by the staff and it was like a home from home for him. The team listened to him, were patient & flexible with him and adapted to meet his complex needs. We would highly recommend the Adelaide, they made my dads last few months as comfortable as could be so that we could spend valuable time together as a family.

We are very grateful to everyone at Downlands for their kindness and cannot recommend them enough. Mum was deteriorating quickly yet her doctor believed she wasn't palliative, so we initially planned for respite. Downlands quickly saw this as a possibility and the discussion with the family of palliative
care was done with great sensitivity. She was only there 4 days but we are glad we got her there in time so she could receive the care she needed. The manager was kind and patient throughout, helping us feel confident she would be in the best hands. We could see a small change in her there - she looked cleaner and more comfortable than she had in weeks. Everyone was kind and patient when feeding her, as it was becoming challenging. They offered us food, drinks and bedding as we sat by her during her final night, even providing a spare room so we could have somewhere quiet nearby to nap. Nurses would come in regularly and there were no delays with administering medicines.

I have power of attorney for my friend who has dementia, we have moved him from another nursing home as we weren't happy with the way he has been looked after. He has only been in Adelaide since Jan 15th, his weight has increased and he looks so much happier. The staff here are amazing he is always
up and dressed looking clean and sitting in the lounge. Whereas in another home he was in bed all the time. He was losing weight every week! When you enter Adelaide it feels so homely and relaxed and all the staff we have met are very caring when there is a problem they phone us and it's nice when you arrive to be asked if would you like a drink. Fantastic home for your loved ones to care for happy friends.

We are so grateful to the wonderful caring staff at Downlands who made our Mother's final months so comfortable. Mum had Alzheimer's, so found it difficult to settle at first but the staff were so patient and always smiling so she soon began to feel at home. She was placed there after spending 61/2
weeks in hospital and immediately started to enjoy food again despite needing a puree diet as the fantastic chef purees home-cooked meals. The staff treat everyone as one big family. They were so friendly to my brother and I who visited regularly. The manager is always welcoming and ready to talk things through. The nurses were so caring towards Mum and ensured she was free from pain and comfortable. Highly recommend this nursing home to everyone, we couldn't have asked for more caring palliative care. The staff are always consistent which really helped Mum feel safe. Thank you Downlands for looking after Mum and supporting us in saying goodbye.

My mum spent the last week of her life at Downlands. When we were looking for palliative care homes the week before mum was admitted, I visited Downlands and it felt so comforting as soon as we entered the front door. The Manager and her staff are wonderful, so kind and attentive. The home itself won't
be the most attractive but the staff more than make up for it. I am so pleased I chose Downlands for mums last few days and would recommend it to anyone looking for care for their loved ones.

My mother was admitted for end-of-life care four months ago. Her needs became more acute towards the end but she was always treated with professional and sympathetic care. Her basic requirements of cleanliness and nutrition were met thoroughly. The staff were attentive, friendly and understanding with
exceptional care from the senior nurses and manager which extended to their support with the family.

We manage to visit Mum for 2 weeks every couple of months due to distance. Little communication between times ie: phone, lack of dexterity re: hands/hearing/sight. Mum usually appearing to be content with her lot despite being a loner. For a country lass, it is obviously hard to be in her sat in a chair
situation. Staff appear welcoming/happy with several having been incumbent for many a year. Thank you.

When my husband moved into Seaway, the cook told me that all the staff were 'super lovely'. She was not exaggerating. The kindness and care both my husband and I received was, in my opinion, exceptional. Sadly my husband died after 6 short weeks, but in those weeks I grew to be very fond of these smiling,
cheerful, kind and very hard-working people looking after my husband so well and hugging me when I visited. Seaway should be your first choice of a nursing home for anyone you love and want the best of care for. I shed tears when saying goodbye to these dear people.

My dad's last few weeks were spent in this nursing home and he was very well looked after and cared for. The staff were friendly and kind and treated him with dignity at all times. We were always made to feel welcome and it was a clean and homely environment. He had a bright room with enough space to
store his items. He was well-fed and frequently offered tea and biscuits throughout the day. He didn't get involved in the activities but there were lots on offer if he had wanted to. We are very grateful to the staff for making the last few weeks easier for us and they have continued to be helpful after. Thank you, we would highly recommend this nursing home.

Our mum spent her last 14 days at Downlands. The end-of-life care that she received was excellent. The staff were so caring and respectful of mum. They worked very collaboratively with us and the live-in carer who had supported her previously. It was impressive that they were so open to learning from
and with people with previous knowledge of mum. Whenever we highlighted something that she would want (e.g. specific music; her curtains being open) they implemented this immediately. Mum was not keen to eat and they found ways to try to encourage her whilst respecting any clear 'no' - however communicated. In the final hours of her life, they were beautifully gentle, caring and respectful (of both her and her children). Their communication with us was reassuring, caring and gently clear. As a consequence, the end of mum's life was peaceful and loving. We are so pleased we chose Downlands, a well-managed home, for our mum's last days.

Our lovely friend spent his last months at Seaway. It was the happiest months he had had in a long time. The staff treated him like family and took excellent care of him. His rights and choices were always honoured and respected. He was able to see his days out spending time in the lovely garden doing
what he loved best without judgement. We were always welcomed as visitors no matter the time or the day. All the staff are kind and polite and he loved them all. Thank you for making his last months so happy.

We knew Downlands would be my mum's final home and feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to place her there. In her final few weeks, she was treated with the utmost dignity, respect and most importantly, gentle care and kindness. The team are extraordinary in all aspects of their work.
Despite not being able to eat a great deal, the chef prepared her an appropriate meal at all times, not deterred by it returning with only a spoonful taken. The manager is a joy. I would like to thank every person who took care of my lovely mum, they were all beautiful souls who made her final days and final hours comfortable, pain-free and dignified. We in all honesty couldn't have asked for more.

The care and comfort my Mum received from the manager and the entire team at Downlands was outstanding.
Mum spent her final days with dignity and I take great relief knowing that her pain relief was managed and she was in a home from home. The communication I received along with the support from absolutely
everyone I encountered was so reassuring to us all and I would highly recommend Downlands. The individual rooms are homely and you can add familiar touches. The new extension will be amazing. When Mum needed to make a trip to A&E a lovely carer went with her and stayed with her for many hours beyond her working day until I could get there! That special carer when I return to see everybody have my special thanks along with all those from the day and night teams who looked after every aspect of Mum's care. I am so glad I found Downlands!

Downlands was recommended to me as a suitable place for my husband's care. It includes palliative care/24-hour nursing care. He had a terminal brain tumour. The Manager showed my son around and we chose a room. She took me to the hospital saw my husband and left. She returned later and told me an ambulance
would take us out at 3:00 pm and transport us to the home. 2:55 pm the paramedics took us to the ambulance and onto Downlands. She managed in a few hours to get my husband discharged. I would recommend Downlands to anybody and have done so. the staff are second to none. The cleaning and laundry ladies, chef, handyman, all the carers, the nursing staff and local doctors. Wonderful people all of them and bless them all. My husband survived longer than expected because of the exceptional care he received.
