Management and all the team at Leah Lodge provided our family with exceptional support when we needed it the most. On entering a care home setting for the first time, Dad presented significant challenges to the team and his family and the Leah Lodge team worked with him and the family with great care,
sensitivity and compassion. We, the family, our very pleased to be able to recommend Leah Lodge to readers considering placing a loved one in their care - our experience has been a very positive one, in very difficult circumstances.

Excellent stay after a major operation and needing respite care for 2 weeks. Staff friendly and supportive. The food was excellent, varied and nourishing. The facilities are very relaxing and more like a hotel than a care home. I will recommend to others including my consultant surgeon at the hospital.
Thank you to all the staff.

I've visited this lovely home several times in the last few weeks, always "unplanned", and the welcome from all staff has been 5*. Nothing is too much trouble, always friendly, and have time for the residents. A real "family" feeling there!
Such a relief to know that my relative is happy, safe, and
looked after so well. The food is lovely, always cakes and biscuits in the cafe area, and the gardens are beautifully kept! Thank you.

I stayed at Rokewood Court Care Home for two weeks from Thursday 19 September to Wednesday 2 October 2024 for respite care after a rotator cuff repair operation. I needed personal care (showering, hairwashing, dressing) which I was very nervous about but the kind and helpful carers made the daily experience
a pleasant one. The care home was clean and friendly and well-designed for comfort. Too many to name but everyone from the managers to the cooks, carers and other staff made my 2 weeks a happy time.

I moved into Leah Lodge 10 weeks ago; it is now my permanent home. Before I came, I was well supported by the publicity and recruitment staff, who patiently answered my many questions as worked through a life-changing decision.
My experience of living here has been very good. All staff know me and
address me by name at all times. Help is available at the touch of a button, and it is given cheerfully and willingly; there is an excellent balance between any support needed and respect and encouragement of my independence. The activities coordinators work hard to maintain our social skills through varied and imaginative projects, including frequent opportunities to go further afield in the minibus.
As for the comfort and maintenance of good health, menus are varied and interesting, beds are wide and comfortable, rooms are well furnished, and there is ready access to the doctor who visits the home every week.

It is a truly grim thing to find that the place you have chosen for the person you love most in the world to recuperate after surgery is somewhere where you both feel he is unsafe. This was the horrible position my father and I found ourselves in.
But a friend recommended Eden Court and after my
frantic phone call, they worked their magic so quickly. Within hours of my call, I had looked around, my father had been assessed and then welcomed warmly into this wonderful safe environment. It is fair to say that we were both fairly traumatised, untrusting and tired but my father was cared for by a particularly wonderful carer with such calm kindness and charm that over the next day or so he was finally able to relax and concentrate on his rehab. And I felt able to breathe.
Every single member of staff at Eden Court is smiley, friendly, helpful, kind and welcoming. Trust me, not all places manage that... If we ever need help again I won't hesitate to knock on their door.

Leah Lodge is a well run, caring place for people with dementia. The staff are professional but kind and friendly with the residents, who are given plenty of agency over decisions. It fosters a good environment, with plenty of activities and things for the residents to do. This is the fourth home that
my mother has been in (this happened more by accident that because we're difficult!), so I have a good understanding of how care homes work, and it is definitely the best, from the settling in process to the day-to-day lived experience.

I always thought putting a relative in a care home was the last thing I should do until a friend became a permanent resident in Leigh Lodge. It's such a happy and caring home, somewhere I'd enjoy living myself. The carers know all the friends and relatives of the residents. The relatives know each other's
mothers and fathers. It's like being part of a large family. The relatives meetings a time to connect over a glass and nibbles. The pizza, curry and fish and chip nights for the relatives an opportunity to chat with each other and the staff. The managers, senior carers and the lady who runs the activities.
My dogs are always welcome and enjoyed by the residents.
The staff have an extremely difficult job, which they manage calmly. There is often much laughter and fun, dancing and singing.
Leigh Lodge is always thinking up new ways to improve the lives of their residents. It's exciting to be involved in their plans and to be asked for our ideas.

Leah Lodge was the obvious choice for Mum when she needed residential care as my mother-in-law had lived there previously for several years and been very well looked after. Mum has been there for over 18 months now and is very happy. She settled in straight away so the transition was much easier than
I expected. I think it is due to the warmth and friendliness of all the carers who convey a great deal of compassion and kindness mixed with good humour and fun. Overall it is a very welcoming and friendly place which I believe sets it apart from other homes.

My mother has now been at Leah Lodge for just over 9 months having moved in just before Xmas last year after suffering a stroke. She took quite a few months to settle in but is now happy and doing lots of the activities offered (the activities co-ordinator is exceptional). The food is good with wine
offered at meal times. Staffing is also good. The main thing about Leah Lodge is that as soon as you walk in you don't feel like it's a typical care home setting as the reception area and cafe is very welcoming and friendly. The rooms and communal areas are also very personal and comforting. To conclude I feel Mum is safe and well cared for.

My mum has been in Leah Lodge since mid-December last year. We chose the home because it was near to my sister and we liked the cosy atmosphere. It took my Mum a little time to settle in because it was such a big change from her previous life but she has adapted well and appreciates many things about
the home, including the enthusiastic activities team; many kind staff; and the nice places to sit out in the courtyard, garden and lobby/cafe area. She gets many visitors and we appreciate the ability to make ourselves tea and coffee in the cafe. There are often parties and events - my sister and husband accompanied my mother to the summer fete up the road at the sister home. I attended the Wimbledon strawberries and cream party and have been out with her and other residents on several trips to the pub! We also appreciated the kindness and flexibility shown by a staff member who recently ensured she did not have a long wait for hospital transport home by going to collect her on the local bus.

My mum is on the second floor and every time I visit, I truly feel that this is her home, a place where she is comfortable and well-cared for. I also feel incredibly supported during each visit. I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the dedicated and caring staff.
She enjoys the
entertainment and it is lovely to see her joining in with clapping and waving her arms.
From the moment I enter the reception, I am always made to feel so welcome. The environment creates such a positive and comforting atmosphere.
Everyone is incredibly helpful and goes out of their way to assist me.

Leah Lodge Care Home

from Mike H (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 1 October 2024

September has been a trying time for my father-in-law, he fell in the night presumably on the way to his bathroom, and cracked two of his ribs. His pain and physical discomfort were compounded by his dementia and very poor memory.
However, the response from Leah Lodge was excellent. They called an
ambulance promptly and accompanied him to the hospital, where I joined him. The staff were clearly concerned about his health and were proactive in getting him the pain relief he needed while recovering in the home. They carried out a thorough investigation and made a number of recommendations, which will be implemented to help prevent a similar fall from happening again.
Their communication with us was prompt, clear and comprehensive and I would just like to say a big thank you to all who have been involved. My father-in-law has made a speedy recovery, which is remarkable as he is 94 years old, and I believe that this is primarily due to the high quality of care that he has received.
