Wonderful place. The difference in my father-in-law is tremendous. He had withdrawn from everything and everyone in his last care home. The team at Kings Lodge have restored his dignity, and he absolutely loves it here. After having a bad experience, they brought him back to his former self. He's happy,
enjoys joining in with everyone and loves his carers. The care is very much tailored to his needs, and we couldn't be more grateful. The home is clean and full of life, and the team are wonderful. We couldn't recommend Kings Lodge enough.

Kings Lodge

from Jay T (Brother of Resident) published on 21 February 2025

From my first contact with making arrangements to secure a place for my Brother at Kings Lodge, I was very impressed. It's beautifully reminded me of a 4-star hotel. My Brother moved in September 24 and he absolutely loved it, and immediately felt at home. The management team and reception staff are
exceptional, I was welcomed with every visit with a cup of coffee and a chat if I wanted and always made to feel welcome, I felt part of their family. As for the nurses they were incredible, my Brother was terminally ill and this was to be his final resting place, and I know he wouldn't have wanted to of been anywhere else. My brother was a prickly character but the staff just took it all in their stride, they sat with him and talked when he needed to, sang with him and when he was able, danced with him and when he was nearing the end they held his hand and stayed with him, how beautiful was that. When he passed we all cried together, what kindness and humanity these wonderful staff demonstrated.

Amazing place for my nan the best thing we ever did was to put my nan into Kings Lodge my nan loves all the staff there they always make her laugh and smile. I visited Kings Lodge to have a look around for my nan, when I got there I was greeted by the staff in reception who are so lovely, I met both
of the managers they were also very lovely and made us all feel welcome and made us part of their family. The staff are so happy and friendly and always stop to talk to us ask us how our day has been they all communicate very well. The whole place was clean and smelt really nice and clean also key-coded doors so no one can just walk in and out. Fantastic place.

My husband went into the lodge for respite care. Our daughter and I visited the lodge it was the unknown and a particular member of staff made us feel so at ease as did all the staff they all said hello. It was a massive step for us all, but all the staff made us all feel so very welcome, another staff
member and her team were just fantastic with my husband and I, nothing was too much trouble. She always supported me when I was upset and has been such a strength to us, thank you to her. It has been lovely meeting the other residents to and doing activities, the activity coordinators are amazing. Great fun was had by all. Everyone there at Kings Lodge is just brilliant the kindness and how thought they all are is just amazing, It's great how they remember names too. Always smiling, couldn't have wished for a better place for my husband to have respite. I know that if things change I would choose Kings Lodge as it's so reassuring how lovely the staff are and the caring side of things too. Thank you the managers and all your staff.

I was given a room at very short notice and grateful for that. I found the home very comfortable and secure and my outlook on my pending treatment for hip surgery was much improved by the care and reassurance of the staff.
The food was very good and catered for most tastes it seemed.
It was nice
to be able to meet visitors in the reception area downstairs.

Mum has been at Kings Lodge for 4 years and she is very happy and settled on one of the dementia units. She is so very well looked after by the wonderful caring staff that work so hard looking after the residents. The activities team also do a fabulous job organising so many different entertainers coming
in and all the activities for the residents to watch or get involved in. All the staff are so caring, friendly and welcoming and it's so nice to know my mum is safe and being so well looked after by this lovely team. Thank you all so much.

A massive thank you to all the staff. What a difference you made not just in my dad's life but ours too. He called it home, which it had become. His every need was met, you all welcomed him and made him feel safe. Nothing was too much trouble. He was fussy with food but you took that on and exceeded
his wishes. When I talk to other people about King's Lodge and how happy my dad was. They say what a difference it is to hear so many positive things. I truly appreciate the love and support you gave us as a family when he sadly didn't wake anymore. Manager and Deputy Manager you made him a home with love and support I will always be grateful.

Very good for most options. But for residents can be confusing - Am I a ground floor or 1st floor resident? I need info from both floors if possible as I want to join in. Up-to-date info would be nice. No criticism of the activity lady but activities could be increased? Excellent help from staff.

Kings Lodge

from Gary H (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 24 September 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

My mother-in-law was sent to this home by Social Services from Wexham Park Hospital on Monday 19th August 2024. Prior to being sent, the family were not consulted or given the opportunity to view the facility.
There was little to no communication between the home and the hospital as regarding the care
plan for her, resulting in problems with her required medication and care needs.
The room allocated was dangerous and fifthly. The bedside light was mangled and twisted, exposing live electrical wires with easy access. The emergency call button on the wall when pressed was faulty as did not notify any of the staff within the facility. The extendable button for the emergency alarm was not fitted. The room stank, there was still crumbs and food residue on the table from the last person to useD the room and the door to the room did not work correctly.
Other patients wandered in and out of private rooms at will, more frequently than the 2 staff that were on duty did.

Reply from Guneet Brookes, Sales & Marketing Administrator at Kings Lodge

We are disappointed to read such a negative review, whilst we appreciate that there was a lack of information provided to us from the hospital during our preadmission assessment we endeavoured to rectify this with you during our family meetings. We understand that families are typically invited by social services to visit the home and meet the team once a resident is assessed and accepted, so we are unclear why you were not invited. We refute the allegation that the room was dangerous and dirty as every room is deep cleaned and signed off prior to admission. With regards to the "mangled light" this was never reported to us and upon further investigation, no such issue has been identified. It is never an easy decision for us to serve notice on a resident. However, we have a duty of care to uphold in respect of our other residents and staff members. We are confident that we did our best to work with you as a family and we hope that your mother-in-law has settled well into her new home.

I would like to leave a review for the excellent care my mother receives at Kings Lodge! She has been at Kings Lodge now for nearly 3 years and in all the time she has been there we couldn't ask for a better care home. Mum has Alzheimer's and dementia which is getting gradually worse. The staff have
been wonderful with great care and support for Mum, there are plenty of activities during the day they also take the residents out when they can. Day-to-day care is excellent, the staff are lovely and very caring, and the food is lovely. Mum is always smiling and when asked if she is happy she always replies very happy, she has a lovely room with views of the garden. The home is set in a beautiful setting with trees and a large garden area. I would highly recommend Kings Lodge. 10/10.

My mum stayed here for nine weeks at the beginning of the year, the security was appalling - the first few weeks she was there none of the keypads worked to get onto the floors - anyone could have accessed her room/other residents. Within a week of being there she developed the most horrendous ulcer
on her back - she simply wasn't turned - no one checked on her. The carers did their best, the management is very top-heavy - lots of suits, not enough people doing the jobs that need to be done. The carers aren't just carers, which is why they can't care properly, they are the kitchen staff, cleaners etc. as well.

Firstly and most importantly the home smells great! Plenty of light and positivity upon entering the reception area. My father's room was easily accessible although not big. Some of the fixtures could do with a bit of attention (wardrobe door) but by far the most important thing was the care that he
is receiving - it has been exemplary so far. All the caring staff cannot do enough for my father and he has felt cared for through what has been a difficult time in these past few weeks. Very many thanks.

Most importantly, it's wonderful to know that our staff have made a meaningful impact during this challenging time.
