My father was looked after at Offington Park Rest Home for nearly a year, sadly dad passed away in December. As a family we cannot express how well looked after he was there, especially the last few weeks. All the staff were so caring and they all felt like family to us which was so important to us
as a family, nothing was ever to much trouble always making sure we were OK normally with tea and cake which was always appreciated thank you to all the staff for your hard work.

The care my father is currently receiving at Durban House is excellent. The care shown to my father by the team is remarkable given the number of residents they have in their care. I can speak for both my partner, sister and mother whom all visit regularly and nothing is too much trouble for the carers.

My Father-in-law has been at Durban House since May 2024, sadly he died yesterday but I just wanted to thank all the staff for their care, compassion and hard work. It is much appreciated and although he could be a little difficult at times they were so patient and caring and for that I thank them
from the bottom of my heart. My husband and I agree this is by far the best Home he was in and was as happy as he could be. They made him as comfortable as they could in his final days and made us feel he was really cared for.

Mum settled down very well after a few hiccups. Some days mums is fine and others she is not but the carers seem to cope with her moods. Some carers seem very busy but others sit back. Medically she is cared for very well and its nice they keep us in touch. Nice to see the garden being done.

My friend was transferred to Durban House from another nursing home by his wife, this was because of the lack of care. From what I have observed over the last few visits I have made to Durban House, the staff and level of care are so much better. The staff I have seen show such wonderful compassion
and interest in the residents. I saw a vast improvement in him today; he was much more animated and seemed happier. This was such a joy to see. Thank you to the staff, I know it's not an easy job, but I can see you care for the residents.

My father is so happy, the staff are great. He knows everyone and they make him feel normal if you know what I mean, they treat him as normal. Nothing is a problem, we ask for help and they support the family. This is the best care home he has ever been in. He is safe and it's the best for him, even
on bad days they really help him.

Since the staff and management underwent changes this year, the care is noticeably more engaged with the residents. Staff are friendly towards visitors. My mother-in-law had a birthday and much effort was put in by staff to give her a good time. Also, a very successful BBQ was held on another occasion
for everyone.

Sunhill Court

from Jania G (Sister of Resident) published on 2 September 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My brother, who has learning difficulties, has been in the care system for most of his adult life. He was placed in Sunhill after the specialist home where he had been living for 19 years was due to close. He had been diagnosed with dementia and also has complex medical needs. Both his previous long-term
carers and I were worried about how he would deal with the transition and we were all amazed at how quickly he settled in.
Since he arrived he has been treated with kindness, gentleness and respect.
On my first visit, I was very moved to see how much care had been taken to arrange his bedroom with his beloved toy car collection and his Only Fools and Horses memorabilia.
A lot of work is being undertaken to improve the facilities in the building which is the only reason why I have not yet awarded five stars.
I live overseas and am only able to visit on an irregular basis. It has been a great relief to know that he is happy and cared for and the staff seem to be genuinely fond of him.

My wife has lived with the community at Sunhill Court for a little over a year. She has settled in well if difficult at first. The staff and management have been incredible, showing warmth, patience and dedication in supporting her with her dementia affliction. Nothing appears to be too demanding for
the staff who always speak to her with total consideration.
When I visit I am always made to feel welcome by every member of staff, who are there supporting totally the needs of every resident.
I would recommend Sunhill Court to anybody requiring care and support.
A thank you to all the dedicated staff and management doesn't go far enough to show how their support is valued.

My Mum has lived at Sunhill Court for over a year now and from the beginning, the staff and management have done all they can to help my Mum settle in. Incredibly friendly and full of laughter environment, nothing is too much trouble. Food, drinks and chairs are organized as soon as you walk through
the door to visit, always getting updates on how my Mum has been and any concerns. It doesn't matter who answers the door, they always know exactly where my Mum is and where to find her in the building!
Loads of entertainment for the residents on a daily basis which family and friends are always welcome to join in. The staff and management are more like family to Mum and myself, very kind and approachable - any requests are dealt with straight away and with a smile. I would highly recommend Sunhill Court Nursing Home for your loved ones' care and support.

I recently spent a few months visiting my dad at Sunhill Court. My experience was very positive. The manager and staff go above and beyond to care for my dad and all the residents. They are compassionate, engaging, patient, and always have a smile. The rooms are light, spacious, and clean, and the gardens
are wonderful. We had lovely picnics in the garden, and each time we were provided with tea and biscuits. The residents are encouraged to spend time in the lounge area where there are various activities, and some receive individual care according to their needs. What struck me most was the consistent compassion and warmth of all the staff, even in trying moments. This was evident as I visited often. The manager was always available to chat, and it is clear that her approachable nature is genuine. I interacted with many of the staff members, and I was thoroughly impressed with each one. Sunhill provides exceptional care and a warm, friendly environment for its residents.

Having been in the unfortunate position of requiring, within the past year, residential dementia care for two family members, has led me to have firsthand experience of the daily workings of four different homes and Sunhill has been, by far, the most accommodating and genuinely caring of those establishments.
Nothing I have asked for, or my Mother-in-law has required, has ever been the slightest of inconvenience to the home. The level of care given is first class and is testament to the quality of the caring staff selected for this difficult and challenging roll and is an excellent reflection on the management/leadership team. The level of my Mother-in-law's care has provided many extreme situations for the home, all of which have been managed with the utmost professionalism. I can highly recommend Sunhill for residential dementia care.

I am so grateful for the care and support Warrengate give to my wife, who has dementia. They are kind, caring and provide a safe 'home from home' for her. The staff and management are lovely and very supportive, both to my wife as a resident and also to our visiting family members. No task or request
is too much and they are incredibly thoughtful, friendly and compassionate.
I am also incredibly grateful for the extra time I am having with my wife that we would not have had if she had remained in hospital after an illness. Thank you, Warrengate, I cannot recommend you enough.

The atmosphere is cheerful when we visit and the staff are always welcoming and, more importantly, are attentive and caring with the residents. They have good activities - last week they had a couple of outings - our mother was taken with a group of the residents for a river trip on a barge. They all
had a good time.
The residents and their families and the staff are getting ready for a summer party with entertainment that will be held next weekend.

Friendly staff. My brother is comfortable, lovely gardens - but a great pity we could not use them on the 2 sunny days we visited. Apparently, they were not 'safe', but I feel we two visitors could have taken care of my brother.

Reply from Cassie Wills, Marketing and Wellbeing Manager at Sunhill Court

Thank you for your review. We're pleased to hear your brother is comfortable with us as that is our aim, to ensure our residents feel as at home as possible. We're sorry to hear about your experience when attempting to access the gardens. We have now rectified the access issues and as always we are encouraging our residents to make use of the outside space, with residents also being escorted to the local coffee shop for a break from the home, and also to meet family at times. We are sorry to hear that this wasn't made clear at the time of your visit, and we hope your next visit can include some much-needed fresh air outside of the home.
