My father was looked after at Offington Park Rest Home for nearly a year, sadly dad passed away in December. As a family we cannot express how well looked after he was there, especially the last few weeks. All the staff were so caring and they all felt like family to us which was so important to us
as a family, nothing was ever to much trouble always making sure we were OK normally with tea and cake which was always appreciated thank you to all the staff for your hard work.

My brother, who has learning difficulties, has been in the care system for most of his adult life. He was placed in Sunhill after the specialist home where he had been living for 19 years was due to close. He had been diagnosed with dementia and also has complex medical needs. Both his previous long-term
carers and I were worried about how he would deal with the transition and we were all amazed at how quickly he settled in.
Since he arrived he has been treated with kindness, gentleness and respect.
On my first visit, I was very moved to see how much care had been taken to arrange his bedroom with his beloved toy car collection and his Only Fools and Horses memorabilia.
A lot of work is being undertaken to improve the facilities in the building which is the only reason why I have not yet awarded five stars.
I live overseas and am only able to visit on an irregular basis. It has been a great relief to know that he is happy and cared for and the staff seem to be genuinely fond of him.

My wife has lived with the community at Sunhill Court for a little over a year. She has settled in well if difficult at first. The staff and management have been incredible, showing warmth, patience and dedication in supporting her with her dementia affliction. Nothing appears to be too demanding for
the staff who always speak to her with total consideration.
When I visit I am always made to feel welcome by every member of staff, who are there supporting totally the needs of every resident.
I would recommend Sunhill Court to anybody requiring care and support.
A thank you to all the dedicated staff and management doesn't go far enough to show how their support is valued.

My Mum has lived at Sunhill Court for over a year now and from the beginning, the staff and management have done all they can to help my Mum settle in. Incredibly friendly and full of laughter environment, nothing is too much trouble. Food, drinks and chairs are organized as soon as you walk through
the door to visit, always getting updates on how my Mum has been and any concerns. It doesn't matter who answers the door, they always know exactly where my Mum is and where to find her in the building!
Loads of entertainment for the residents on a daily basis which family and friends are always welcome to join in. The staff and management are more like family to Mum and myself, very kind and approachable - any requests are dealt with straight away and with a smile. I would highly recommend Sunhill Court Nursing Home for your loved ones' care and support.

I recently spent a few months visiting my dad at Sunhill Court. My experience was very positive. The manager and staff go above and beyond to care for my dad and all the residents. They are compassionate, engaging, patient, and always have a smile. The rooms are light, spacious, and clean, and the gardens
are wonderful. We had lovely picnics in the garden, and each time we were provided with tea and biscuits. The residents are encouraged to spend time in the lounge area where there are various activities, and some receive individual care according to their needs. What struck me most was the consistent compassion and warmth of all the staff, even in trying moments. This was evident as I visited often. The manager was always available to chat, and it is clear that her approachable nature is genuine. I interacted with many of the staff members, and I was thoroughly impressed with each one. Sunhill provides exceptional care and a warm, friendly environment for its residents.

Having been in the unfortunate position of requiring, within the past year, residential dementia care for two family members, has led me to have firsthand experience of the daily workings of four different homes and Sunhill has been, by far, the most accommodating and genuinely caring of those establishments.
Nothing I have asked for, or my Mother-in-law has required, has ever been the slightest of inconvenience to the home. The level of care given is first class and is testament to the quality of the caring staff selected for this difficult and challenging roll and is an excellent reflection on the management/leadership team. The level of my Mother-in-law's care has provided many extreme situations for the home, all of which have been managed with the utmost professionalism. I can highly recommend Sunhill for residential dementia care.

Friendly staff. My brother is comfortable, lovely gardens - but a great pity we could not use them on the 2 sunny days we visited. Apparently, they were not 'safe', but I feel we two visitors could have taken care of my brother.

Reply from Cassie Wills, Marketing and Wellbeing Manager at Sunhill Court

Thank you for your review. We're pleased to hear your brother is comfortable with us as that is our aim, to ensure our residents feel as at home as possible. We're sorry to hear about your experience when attempting to access the gardens. We have now rectified the access issues and as always we are encouraging our residents to make use of the outside space, with residents also being escorted to the local coffee shop for a break from the home, and also to meet family at times. We are sorry to hear that this wasn't made clear at the time of your visit, and we hope your next visit can include some much-needed fresh air outside of the home.

Sunhill Care Home is well-run and employs hardworking, generally friendly and helpful staff. The environment is spacious and lively while visiting is open. My mother’s room is very nice, with en-suite and TV, also decorated to her tastes. There is a lovely garden, available during the summer months
if not accessible directly from the social area.

Awful place, they gave my brother who has alcohol related dementia and depression razor blades. The worst happened, over a month in hospital and scarred for life, also no personal care not given, He always smelt and his feet were disgusting even after numerous requests to get sorted.

Reply from Cassie Wills, Marketing and Wellbeing Manager at Sunhill Court

We’re deeply sorry for your brother’s experience while in our care and we take all these concerns incredibly seriously. We have taken actions where required to address our processes where we feel lessons can be learned.
As discussed during the investigation process and outcome, promoting independence is one of our core values in the work that we do, and while we discourage harmful behaviour, we also cannot restrict people’s right to make harmful decisions when they have capacity; including drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes or refusing personal care or hygiene support.
Your brother received care from a diverse multi disciplinary team during his time with us and we repeatedly sought professional advice throughout his stay to support him. We have completed and shared with you a detailed investigation as you know but would like to invite you once again to discuss any concerns you may still have so that we can address them directly.

Dad joined Offington Park just before the first lockdown, from hospital. It was imperative a home was found quickly and we had the very good fortune to find Offington. Dad's care at Offington was exemplary and we know he was very happy there as he was always telling us! He had a lovely rapport with
the staff who showed care and compassion towards him. Indeed this care, compassion and love was shown to both us and Dad on his passing. We can't thank every one of the staff enough!

My mum needed to be transferred from having a live in carer at home to becoming a resident in a care home. Although my mum has only been in Offington Park Rest Home for a few days we found the whole process seamless. The care home manager and their team have been brilliant. The prepared my mum's room
in a lovely way and it looks so 'homely'. All the carers seem lovely and very engaging with Mum. Although it is still early days we couldn't be happier for Mum and the care she's getting at Offington Park.

I have been very impressed with Sunhill Court since Mum was moved here last year. After a difficult 6 months, it was good to find somewhere where I know Mum is being well cared for and there is such a wealth of experience with mums condition (Alzheimer’s). My Dad also feels very welcome and well looked
after when he goes to visit. My only two slightly lower scores are for activities but this has improved significantly since the restrictions around covid have been lifted and the second one was for the facilities which are also currently being improved with a new reception/seating area.

My dad has Alzheimer’s and sadly was no longer able to live safely at home alone, therefore, last September, we took the difficult decision to place him in a care home. We were able to visit Offington Park Rest Home beforehand, both just my husband and I and then with Dad too. Whilst he wasn’t really
sure about staying there (and still doesn’t recognise it as ‘home’, but didn’t recognise his bungalow of the last 36 years as home either), he is safe, and the staff have been nothing but kind and caring to Dad, and always helpful and kind to myself and my family when visiting, and keeping us informed of anything we need to know.

My friend has dementia and various other medical conditions. The care he has received since moving to Sunhill Court has been exemplary. The manager and her whole team of staff go above and beyond to ensure that the needs of each individual resident are met, and this caring, friendly attitude also extends
to family and friends who visit - we are always provided with a drink and biscuits, and my friend's wife has joined him for a tasty lunch on several occasions, nothing is too much trouble. Residents are encouraged if they are able to join in with various activities and entertainment sessions.
Thank you so much for providing such an excellent service.

Mum lives with dementia and has been at Sunhill for a year. Thankfully, Mum settled in straight away, which was a huge relief as she had become increasingly unhappy and withdrawn at her previous care home. Sunhill endeavours to recognise the individual needs of each resident, and we feel that we are
welcomed and listened to. We are reassured by the quality and loyalty of the staff, who demonstrate a caring and friendly attitude, with lots of smiles and interaction with residents. Mum is always dressed elegantly, exactly as she would have done herself, and is brought into the lounge to mingle with the other residents and join in the activities. The food is very good, and we have joined Mum for lunch on occasion. The manager is passionate about offering a high level of care and actively seeks feedback from families. Even though Sunhill is over 30 miles away from my nearest family, as a dementia researcher, I have visited many care homes, and I am satisfied that Mum is in the right place.

Mum had advanced Alzheimer's, she had fallen and broken her hip, and after a stay in the hospital and rehabilitation centre, she had deteriorated badly.
Mum wouldn't eat and barely drank anything.
We decided Sunhill was the best option, partly location and partly because they were able to look after
advanced dementia clients until the end of life.
It was very important she had continuity of care.
Mum settled in very quickly and did start to eat a little and actually drank fluids unaided.
Myself and my stepbrother visited daily and were welcomed by the numerous staff; there are a lot of staff.
The level of care is excellent, and the food for those that can appreciate it is very good; I've sampled it on more than one occasion.
Resident's rooms are very nice, but they are all encouraged to be in the day room; there are activities for those that can take part, plus music and television.
At least once a month, there are entertainers who visit; the staff really make this home a home.

Reply from Cassie Wills, Marketing and Lifestyles Manager at Sunhill Court

Thank you, David, for your kind words. We're so pleased we were able to give mum that bit of independence back, and your feedback means so much to the team.
