Choosing a care home is difficult. When my sister and I first walked in to kings Bromley care home, it felt right for Mum. We were impressed with the layout, the facilities, but mostly with the staff who were all friendly and welcoming. Mum settled in well. She never appeared unhappy and certainly
was never distressed. She was well cared for and comfortable for the 12 months that she was resident. She seemed engaged with her surroundings. She had always been a "people watcher" and there was always something going on!
Initially she ate well and enjoyed the food. Her general decline in health was well monitored and she was treated with care and compassion to the end. Thank you to all the staff for your care and dedication. You made a difference. X

My father has been a resident for two years and we feel so confident with the care and dignity shown within his 'new' home environment. Such a safe, professional and friendly care home. I'm unable to visit regularly, living some distance away, but get regular feedback from the visits made by family
and friends and the lovely social media updates which give an insight into the thoughtful and varied activities arranged. Always thankful for the wonderful team - really appreciate all they do.

We arranged for my Mom to be transferred to Kings Bromley some years ago, as at the time, her current residential care could no longer cope with her decline into dementia. Of course, we visited and had a site tour, before going ahead with the move and found a welcoming, safe and homely environment,
that would allow Mom to flourish in, for as long as her condition would allow.
Kings Bromley has all the good practices, facilities, services and conditions you would expect of a well-run care home, but the crowning glory is the exceptional team, that manages and operates the home and looks after the residents.
It is a remarkable experience, to become not just a resident, or a relative, but part of the Kings Bromley family.
I have seen how carers treated Mom when they didn't know I was there.
She received such respect, tenderness and empathy and if that's not love, then I don't know what is.
'Thank you' seems such an inadequate thing to say.
But..
'Thank you.'

Thanks to everyone at Kings Bromley for all they do for my 99-year-old Nan. She has lived here since 11th Jan 2023, she has dementia and needs a lot of help, I really like coming to visit her, using 2 buses to get there, don't think she would have lived this long if it wasn't for the care home. I would
recommend this home to others, thanks for keeping my Nan alive.

My father was put into care here in 2023 and the care, commitment and dedication I witnessed when I did visit were exemplary and a real comfort to us all. Despite the sad circumstances of his later decline, I saw my father in capable hands and a determination to get through the worst moments. Many of
us became attached to the staff and developed trusting relations, they were always willing to take questions and provide updates on Dad's medication and condition. I had wonderful moments where Dad would show signs of his true self, his humour and cheekiness would come alive again, precious things to cherish, I will never forget where his love for Mum would be so demonstrable and I think this is testament not only to the inner strengths he had, but the positive environment and support in which he rested. I was always grateful when the staff showed their obvious affection for Dad and kindly offered food and drink to keep us refreshed. It was a blessing to be there with him.

When my Dad moved in we couldn’t have been welcomed anymore. The staff were amazing with him, making him comfortable from the very moment he arrived. They have looked out for my mum who visits daily and have given her support and advice when it’s been needed too, which has been lovely and made her feel
much more at ease with the transition. It’s never easy making decisions for your parents health and welfare but the carer and the staff have really helped.

My Dad was suffering from an aggressive brain tumor only diagnosed in January. After a hospital stay, he was transferred into care at Kings Bromley on an end-of-life care package. He needed one-to-one care 24 hours a day. He was cared for with compassion, kindness, and dignity. His communication skills
had rapidly decreased and as a family, we were able to translate some of his behavior to the carers, especially when it came down to needing more pain relief. The medication was never denied provided it was safe to administer and was promptly given. We felt listened to. What I need to mention is their attentiveness to the family as well as Dad, the finest example of holistic care. We spent many hours by his bedside as he deteriorated and we were provided with refreshments from the kitchen staff. The carers were always there for our support. Mum was permitted to stay overnight and even provided with meals. I can't thank you enough for being there for us all right until the end.

I should like to express my heartfelt thanks to Kings Bromley Care Home's manager, the principal carer for my mother-in-law, the nurse who provided care in her last hours and, indeed, to all the staff at Kings Bromley. Coming to the home for the last few days of her long life meant Mum had 24/7 care
in peaceful surroundings, with immediate access to end-of-life support and that we were free to be her family, spending as much time as we liked with her, whenever we liked. This was immensely helpful to her and to us at a difficult time. (I cannot assess value for money as Mum's care was not funded by us.)

I visited my cousin as I am from Canada. I had made email contact with the manager a couple weeks before our visit and she was most gracious letting me know of any restrictions and keeping in contact as we neared the time of our visit. The staff were very kind directing us in and out of the home where
my cousin now resides with advanced dementia. I do not “do” social media at all, but I am able to access the Kings Bromley social media page. Being a retired teacher and having worked with special needs children for many years, I am very impressed with the many crafts and activities with which the staff engage with the residents. The intent is to keep body and mind active for as long as possible as this appears to be done with great care and love. It is a demanding job for staff and there is much burnout in the field so a great accomplishment for Bromley Care, the staff with regard to talking and touching as well as basic care is very much in evidence.

Our mother went into Kings Bromley Care Home in February 2023 following a brief spell in hospital after a fall and significant worsening of her dementia. We were worried about how mom was going to be, but from the first moment we were reassured that she was going to be well looked after. Right from
the beginning the team were attentive to mom's needs and have been proactive in changing care as her needs changed. As Mom needed high levels of nursing care we have been impressed with the numbers of nurses on site, their professionalism and how they have kept us informed and engaged throughout Mom's care. Although the scheme is of the older design and grounds are in need of a bit of TLC. The care and attitude of staff more than make up for this. They are kind, attentive and helpful. We also thought the staff ratio was excellent as there always seemed enough staff about to get help from if needed.

I am related to and visiting a male resident at the home.
Since his admission his dementia has worsened and at times he can display behaviours that present as challenging.
I have some experience of these situations as a retired social care assessor working on an older adult social work team.
The
staff at Kings Bromley have done their utmost to provide a stable and caring environment for my relative and continue to support him and his family, and keep his wife fully informed of any decision-making/events relating to his care.
Recently a meeting (online), was held to discuss and complete documentation for CHC funding.
I was very impressed by the senior nurse at Kings Bromley.
She displayed a deep understanding of my relative's complex needs and showed both professionalism and compassion.

I do not recommend this care home to anybody.
Recently lost my nani in February. The most kind, generous and gentle lady anyone could be.
Myself and my family made several complaints and nothing was dealt with accordingly.
A few examples, food being cut up as my nani couldn't use her fingers very
well and this wasn't done. The safety of my nani as a resident was carrying a knife in his pocket who came into my nani's room whilst I, my husband and mother was present. Who knows what would have happened if we weren't there as there was no staff around. My nani's belongings going missing such as perfume and clothes and wheelchair went walkabouts which were being used for other residents. Neglect! My nani wanted the toilet and the carers refused and said she would have to wait until after dinner.
The list is endless, I could go on.
Ever since my nani came to this care home, she really deteriorated and her health went down. No communication, no care in this home. The home needs a new manager.

We are extremely disappointed to see that another member of the same family has posted a similar review about our team, after we have provided an explanation and response to the first member. We have quality monitoring processes in place to ensure that our team deliver good quality care to our service users. All feedback received internally, also from external professionals and via this website, usually reflects the high standard of care we deliver to our service users and we are sorry you have not considered the same experience. We do take every concern which is reported to us seriously and deal with it appropriately, meeting with the person raising the concern, investigate, provide feedback and outcomes, in agreement with the complainant. We also involve external professionals, such as safeguarding teams, if the concerns meet the safeguarding threshold. We are open and transparent with our service users, their families/ friends and external professionals throughout. The mentioned safety incident (butter knife) on your feedback via this website, was reported to the local authority safeguarding team and dealt with appropriately at the time, feedback was provided to family members during their visit to the home and also via telephone to family members who were not present at the time, ensuring all aware of outcome. Our staff are trained to identify service users’ deterioration and arrange appropriate medical support from GP/ Out of Hours service/ Ambulances and other Health Care Professionals, which was done correctly. During your ‘Nani’s’ stay all relevant professionals were involved and appropriate care and treatment was provided.

We had cause to complain about the following issues: The resident needed her food to be cut up because of weak hands. This was not done on several occasions. We found her dithering with cold because of a faulty radiator. She fell out of bed one morning and broke her hip but an ambulance was not called
until the evening. The pressure-sensitive mat was not working on some occasions, and sometimes not even plugged in. She had a deep scratch on her collar bone which the home said was caused when she scratched herself. She had no nails. We were shocked to receive notice that the home had asked for a transfer, because of our constant complaints. Social Services refused this request when they investigated. Our relative passed away shortly afterwards and had obviously been unfit to be moved. We were rarely made to feel welcome by the staff, who we found to be negative and uncooperative. The accuracy of the information given when we telephoned was inconsistent.

Reply from Aga Bednarek, Registered Home Manager at Kings Bromley Care Home

It is extremely upsetting to hear that this is your reflection on our home and service, especially as it is the total opposite of the feedback received from other members of your family. So we are sorry you have not felt the same or had the same experience.
We do not feel it is an appropriate forum to debate and show evidence of the inconsistencies and misinformation written in your feedback, so we won't.
We would however again offer you our sincere condolences for your loss.

Mum who is 89 years and suffers from dementia was admitted to Kings Bromley Nursing Home in September 2022. Prior to this, she spent 6 months in and out of different hospitals, she was extremely weak frightened and unhappy. 4 months later the difference is remarkable thanks to the wonderful staff at

The home is very well led and everyone works extremely hard and gives their absolute best. My auntie suffered a stroke and has slight dementia. She has been at Kings Bromley since the end of September, she has made a few friends in the main lounge and at mealtimes. She loves the food, especially the puddings. She also likes some quiet time in her room listening to music. When we visit we
are offered tea or coffee and made to feel welcome. She is very happy in the accommodation. If she needs help there are always carers or nurses around.
