My wife has Parkinson's disease and dementia, she has been at The Rectory since last June. It was an extremely difficult time for us both leading up to then. I am totally happy in knowing she is now getting the kind of care that she needs. She had spent time in other care homes for a week's respite
care but none of them come anywhere near the way she is cared for at The Rectory. She is safe warm and dressed properly. She is treated with respect, dignity and love. I visit regularly and have found the staff to be welcoming and considerate of both our needs. Nothing is too much trouble and I never feel I am being a nuisance or am getting in the way of the care needs of the other residents. I would thoroughly recommend The Rectory to everyone.

Reply from Abbie Foster, Home Manager at The Rectory Care Home

Pete, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a wonderful review. It has been a pleasure caring for your wife since last June. Thank you for everything you do to support the home.

We are very happy with the care received at The Rectory by our old nanny. The staff is patient and friendly, they always seem well-informed on her condition and needs and the atmosphere is welcoming. Whenever we visit she seems calm and comfortable. We are grateful for the quality of care provided to
her.

Generally when visiting my brother we are warmly welcomed. I feel that my brother is being well cared for. The staff are attentive and will answer any questions or concerns with upmost honesty. My brothers room is always clean and tidy, as he is as well. Personally I would have no qualms in referring

The care home staff from all areas are excellent and very compassionate and willing to tailor support for my mum who was admitted back in September 2024 with complex needs.
Nothing is too much trouble for them and they really try to make every resident feel welcome and engaged in very trying circumstances.
The facilities are clean and well-maintained and the standards of care are what you would expect for a loved one. I would thoroughly recommend St Benedicts Nursing Home to anyone who is considering placing someone there.

My mum was at St Benedicts (The Deanery). Over the last few days of her life the love, support and compassion both Mum and I received was outstanding, especially from two particular members of the care team. When I was sitting with Mum the staff came in to comfort me and to check that Mum was comfortable.
She had clean bedding and clean clothes every day and they even painted her nails. I would like to think that Mum was aware that she was having a manicure (she would have loved it!) and I can't thank them enough for this kindness. I was with Mum when she passed away peacefully and was comforted by Mum's special carer. No words can adequately say how wonderful the staff were at this sad time.
I hope and trust that the management and owner realise how lucky they are to have such a special, dedicated and wonderfully caring team who enabled Mum to enjoy the last 3 years of her life and for me to know that she was being so well looked after. I will always be in their debt.

My husband has been permanently living in St Cecilia's since June.
I looked at several homes but this one felt the right one with its homely feel and friendly staff and because I had worked in care I wanted to ensure that that was more important that he would get the care he needed!
The staff are
fabulous giving the care needed. Visitors are welcomed and included. There was recently an open day BBQ for residents and families with music which was a great way of getting to know other residents' families etc.
The manager has a good relationship with the staff with support and respect which is reflected in the care given and atmosphere in the home.
Although I am the wife of a resident in St Cecilia's I feel supported by the lovely staff. Keep up the good care.

I rarely write reviews but I had to for the lovely staff at The Rectory. My mum moved in last year and I immediately felt the genuine care that all the staff have for the residence. Mum passed away on Saturday and I was blown away by the love all the staff showed her in her final days, someone was by
her bed, day and night for 6 days, and I cannot thank them enough.

Human Angels. In September 2023 my father was admitted to St Benedict's Nursing Home in Glastonbury after spending most of the summer at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. He left hospital with a very complicated diagnosis of 'acquired haemophilia', which is an incredibly rare and terminal condition.
Coupled with diabetes and dementia the challenge was going to be great. The care and attention at St Ben's was exceptional and we not only thank them for the care of my father, but also for the care and compassion we all received. My father passed away peacefully on, 17th November, 2023. It would be unjust to single out any individuals, as clearly the overarching culture at the home is outstanding. As a family, we cannot thank all of the staff enough for their care and support and we believe, they are 'human angels'. We look forward to returning for the anniversary celebrations, to drink with the 'angels', to our beloved Dad and husband.

My Mum who has Alzheimer's has been using this facility first as a day visitor and for respite care, then as her care needs increased, as a resident.
The manager, along with her team, are wonderful with Mum. The whole team engage with the residents and the staff's cheerful attitude gives a happy atmosphere
which is clearly visible when I visit Mum.
Mum is happy at St Cecelia's and joins in with all the activities. The whole team are professional and diligent with the care they provide to Mum, and they do it with smiles, hugs and kindness. Thank you to everyone at St Cecelia's.

My Mum came to St Cecilia's after a fall at her house earlier this year followed by some weeks in Yeovil Hospital. St Cecilia's manager made Mum very welcome and has been very kind to Mum and her family ever since. The staff are also very kind and helpful. Mum has a beautiful bedroom which she feels
very 'at home' in. She can join the other residents in the lounge when she wants to and has very tasty meals in the dining room. The atmosphere at St Cecilia's is very relaxed which is important for someone like Mum who can be over-anxious. The manager keeps us all well-informed, and the rooms are always clean and tidy. Today (5/5/24), there was a special open day with a barbecue and drinks in the beautiful garden: the homemade trifle was a highlight!

Mum has been at the Rectory for a year now, she's settled in quite well.
I'm extremely grateful to all the staff, and the manager who is always 100 per cent supportive of Mum and to me. They have given me so much support, and are always there when I have a problem, every single member of the care home
team is lovely, genuinely caring and friendly.
The home is always clean and tidy. The food always looks and smells great, and they are always offering cups of tea or cold drinks to the residents. My only complaint is the lack of activities, it would be good to have more social media posts, so we can see what's happening.
Or maybe if there was an app we could log onto, and see what's been happening in mums day to day life, although I go 3 times a week, Mum doesn't have much conversation, so if I knew what was going on, I would be able to chat to mum about it or show her the posts to jog her memory.

Having to make a decision as to where to place a loved one when they are at their most vulnerable is one of the most traumatic and hardest I have ever had to make but I needn't have worried. From the very first time I visited St Benedicts, I knew Mum would be safe and well cared for. The whole team
at St Benedicts showed immense professionalism and the highest standard of care to not only Mum but the family as well. All the staff were amazing with Mum and they all saw past her illness and treated her with respect and dignity. Everything that could be done for Mum was done and nothing was ever too much. We were always greeted with a smile and made to feel like part of St Benedicts family. Communication between us and the staff was brilliant. We will never be able to thank everyone enough for the care they showed Mum in the last weeks of her life. We had peace of mind knowing that when we left her after visiting she was safe, happy and well looked after.

Thank you for looking after my mum which in my heart I wish I could do but she seems happy and settled into The Rectory so I cannot thank the staff enough. Everyone is really caring and they do not mind me ringing to ask them questions or speak to mum, like the updates via their social media as I can
see what she has been doing and love the birthday celebrations and cakes, must be a lovely treat for the residents as I hope that they do remember their birthdays and just to let you know Mum's is coming up in July and she loves fresh cream and fruit especially strawberries. Thanks again.

My mother has settled into The Rectory Care Home having been admitted at the beginning of March. She settled very quickly and became attached to the staff and residents within a few weeks. She said everyone was 'very good' and I can tell by the way she smiles at the staff that she really does mean that.
Her room is always really clean and nothing has been too much trouble, from hanging family photos to making it very homely. My sister and I have always been made to feel welcome when visiting. I am never worried about leaving her as I know she's happy.

My father who has Alzheimer's has been using this facility for 2 years now. He has weekly day respite and occasional overnight respite care. The manager and her team are wonderful with Dad. He always comes away happy. They tell me how his day has been and his activities. The team are so good with Dad.
