My mother has been living at Foxhunters for about 18 months now and I have to say that the care she has received has been first class. She is happy and content and they properly manage every aspect of her day-to-day living and care. I would not hesitate in recommending Foxhunters to anyone. The home
is clean and well run and the staff are absolutely fantastic and brilliantly trained. The food is excellent, particularly the specially arranged buffets and birthday or other special occasion lunches.

The care and concern at Foxhunters for all residents is outstanding. My mum is so much more settled now and loves everyone! Despite her mixed dementia, she tells me every day how lovely the staff are and how clean it it and she has lovely food! Mum now thinks of this as home, which is the most reassuring
thing for our family as moving her to Foxhunters from Pembrokeshire was a huge decision and rather challenging A quote from mum recently: "Every night they knock on my door to check if I'm safe in bed and if I need anything- they are wonderful!" December has been challenging for Foxhunters with the storm stopping the Christmas fayre and then Influenza A requiring lockdown to keep residents safe - but everything the staff do is in the best interests of residents. They made a huge effort to support well residents still to have fun at this festive time. We were immensely grateful to be able to take mum out to be with family on Christmas Day and the welcome on her return was so special.

My mum and dad have been in the care home since September 2022. My dad died in August this year. The staff were all very kind and helpful. They were always patient with him even though he was quite demanding. My experience there has always been good.

I had to move my brother from his home in Essex at short notice. Foxhunters completed all necessary steps quickly and efficiently with a minimum of fuss.
His family are now delighted that he is in a safe and secure environment.
Many thanks to all the staff.

Both my parents are in Foxhunters. In May 2024 my mother was hospitalised for 3 weeks. Without hesitation, the staff at Foxhunters volunteered to take my father to visit her when she was transferred to the local hospital. Over and above what they needed to do.

The atmosphere at Foxhunters is always welcoming and friendly. Staff consistently acknowledge us, as visitors, with a smile and greeting. Our mum, who has dementia, tells us she feels so lucky to be there and since she arrived all the staff - admin, reception, carers, qualified and unqualified, activities
co-ordinators and housekeeping staff contribute to helping her feel very at home there.
We appreciate regular feedback on mum's physical health conditions as she is unable to give this herself. The nurse practitioner from the local surgery visits and communicates regularly with staff to monitor and review residents' health.
There is a full programme of varied activities daily for residents to participate in, although our mum generally chooses not to. She appreciates the garden - the peaceful setting and wonderful views from there of the Blorenge as she likes to have a little walk whenever she can. Having moved here in March this year, we are very reassured that mum is so content.

My reviews are fully supported by myself and my family, my brother was a resident at Foxhunters Care Home from December 2022 until December 2023 when he unfortunately passed away. We as a family paid visits to the home several times a week during which we became fully aware of the care shown throughout
his time at the home, we also witnessed first-hand the very high standards the staff dealt with some health issues my brother had during his stay. What wonderful caring staff are employed in the home, always professional and friendly towards my brother and other residents. We came to know the staff and residents on our visits and never heard any detrimental remarks about the standards of care. Before arranging for a position for my brother to be accepted in the home we visited numerous other care homes but after making a visit to Foxhunters there was only one place we wished for him to go and our decision was never questioned by our family. Thank you for caring for my brother.

My Dad moved into Foxhunters a week ago. Wow, what an amazing place. It feels just like a hotel. The moment you walk through the front door you are greeted with a lovely smile from the ladies who work at the reception desk.
There is always a great atmosphere and buzz about the place.
The care the
staff have given my Dad is absolutely Incredible. They know him very well already.
The home is immaculately clean throughout. The food is delicious and there's plenty of it. Ranging from breakfast. A three-course lunch, afternoon tea and a 3-course evening meal. If that wasn't enough there's even food later on at night if residents get a bit peckish!
I joined my Dad for Sunday lunch for Father's Day. We were given our own private dining room. The food was amazing and there was plenty of it.
I would highly recommend Foxhunters to anyone.

My mam has dementia and went into Foxhunters in December 2020 so has been a resident for just over 3 years. The care team at Foxhunter’s are considerate, thoughtful and most importantly empathetic to mams needs. Mam always looks smart and has her hair done regularly at the in-house hair salon. Mam has
a large room with her own en-suite bathroom and whenever I visit everything is spotless. She has a lovely outlook and has outside space if we want to sit outside in the warmer weather. I have nothing but good things to say about Foxhunter’s, it’s never an easy decision for a relative to go into care but it’s reassuring when you know you’ve chosen the right place.

I chose the home for my auntie and first impressions are very important to me. Upon first inspection, everything felt right, looked right, staff were very friendly, attentive to residents and plenty of staff - good ratio to residents. Lovely surroundings and décor, plenty of activities going on and
my auntie had good privacy when required. An excellent choice, well recommended. Thank you!

My father passed away last year and mum spiralled downhill quickly. We brought her up to Abergavenny from Lancashire so she was close to us. Eventually, we chose the Foxhunters. They made the move very easy and she was encouraged to bring her favourite items (including furniture) to help her settle
in. Mum has never been a joiner but now loves the activities organised, especially the garden. She now eats well although is blaming the laundry for shrinking her clothes as opposed to her now being a healthy weight again.

The staff are very caring and know all the residents by name. When mum has been unwell they have acted quickly, rung me and arranged for her GP to visit. Despite the upheaval of having to leave the family home of 60 years she is now happy and settled.

Mum seems very happy here in her second year. There is always lots going on to keep people entertained. The lady who arranges the activities does a great job. All staff seem to know Mum well and she enjoys their company. The lady who is the main carer on Mum's floor is excellent.

Having visited a number of care homes over the years, I was not very keen on coming into one myself. However, it is hard to fault the experience I have had so far. The care, thoughtfulness and consideration shown by everyone in all departments is remarkable. The patience shown by staff when busy and
under pressure is exemplary.

My Dad stayed at Foxhunters for respite care while we were on holiday. When he arrived he was smartly dressed and sitting upright reading the paper and conversing normally. When we visited him on the day we returned (following a call from the care home to express concerns over his not eating) we found
him delirious, lying on the bed barefoot and in stained clothing. That was a Saturday. It took until the Monday for the care home to get a doctor to him despite repeated requests. By this time he was totally incoherent and had lost a significant amount of weight. He was eventually admitted to the hospital where I was told he was suffering from severe dehydration. The hospital raised a safeguarding concern. The organisation and processes of care were totally haphazard. Needless to say, the home hid behind records which evidenced that procedure had been followed but these were all for show and did not reflect reality at all. Shocking level of care. Do not put your loved ones here!

Reply from Leah Mort, Home Director at Foxhunters Care Community

We are very sorry that you feel that we did not meet the standards you expected during the time your father was a resident with us. The information that was recorded about your father, including care plans, risk assessments, observations, call bell logs and daily records were accurate and up to date.

We fully complied with the safeguarding investigation in an honest and transparent manner. The outcome of the investigation did not find any fault in the care delivery and the case was closed with no improvements recommended.

Some of the staff were lovely at Foxhunters. Unfortunately, my mother passed away here on the 7th of December, and the bracelet she was wearing disappeared never to be seen again, this was very upsetting to family members, please be aware of your relative's jewellery.

Reply from Leah Mort, Home Director at Foxhunters Care Community

I am so sorry that your mother’s bracelet was lost whilst she was in Foxhunters Care. As I discussed with you when we met, as the bracelet was elasticated, we can only assume that it came off with her clothing when staff were supporting her. Despite an extensive search, which included the laundry and all other areas, it could not be found. We appreciate that this was distressing for you and are extremely sorry. We did offer to replace it at our cost but you declined. Clearly, we understand that we could not compensate for the sentimental loss. All of your mother’s gold jewellery was returned to you as were all of her other possessions. We always do our utmost to care for all possessions belonging to everyone living in the home. Please accept our sincerest and heartfelt apologies.

My dear friend has recently passed away after staying at Foxhunters approx 4 years. I visited her often during this time, more recently, have been there every day for over a week. Whilst the home has all the basic needs, clean, comfortable, lots of food. It is my observations of the staff I wish to
commend. Male and female from professional to non professional. They are the most attentive, happy, cheerful people with empathy, compassion and love for each attendee, knowing them all by name, serving their every need. The resident hairdresser, again cheerful, attentive making the ladies look beautiful, eyebrows and nails, they love it and she loves them all. Whilst Foxhunters home is beautiful, it's nothing without the dedicated, hard-working staff to enhance it and make it home for so many.

I first came to Foxhunters in 2021 while my children were away for a week, and the same again in 2022. I found Foxhunters excellent, although I didn't join in any activities. The food was very good, and the staff were kind and helpful. As I walk with a zimmer frame, I found it difficult to get about
and do things. The staff helped me shower each morning and brought me coffee or wine whenever I asked. A television was provided and I could watch it whenever I liked. I will certainly come back again and would highly recommend it.
