Needed care after operation - live alone in area so convenient. All very pleasant and friendly staff and management. Only saw ground floor rooms and facilities; ate my meals in my room by choice. Food good and varied - but with the huge charge per week felt could have fresh fruit rather than tinned!
All staff lovely and helpful; washing (clothes) facility very useful. Perhaps not the best toilet/washing facility for someone with a serious leg operation on two crutches, felt insecure in shower facility and bed uncomfortable. Lovely care home, not perhaps right choice for my aftercare but convenient.

Cambridge Grove Care Home

from S D (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

This is my first experience of care homes in relation to placing a loved one in one for permanent residential care. I visited a few care homes and found that Cambridge Grove was exceptional and far above any of the others that I saw, in terms of the facilities, the rooms with ensuite shower rooms, the
decor, the space, the food, the number and frequency of activities, and the gardens. I also found the people working there to kind, caring, knowledgeable and supportive. I have no connection to the care home or anyone working there, other than my loved one staying there, but I couldn't be happier that I managed to find this home for my loved one.

Reply from Amy Milburn, Home Ambassador at Cambridge Grove Care Home

Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We're glad to hear that you have compared our home to others and have made the decision that Cambridge Grove is the perfect setting for your loved-one to live. We work hard to ensure our home is a happy place for residents, relatives and staff and we encourage everyone to join in with our wide variety of activities. We look forward to seeing you again, very soon.

The staff are always very welcoming when I come to visit and make an effort to learn names and recognise faces. They know their residents well and treat them as if they are family. The staff are always cheerful and are prepared to spend time talking to residents and visitors. The chef is excellent.
The food I had was first rate. They made an effort to ensure the residents are as active as they can be. My place for the future is already booked.

What a lovely care/nursing home. Mum and dad are staying in a suite allowing them to be together. A friend had had respite there following surgery and had told us how lovely it was. My parents are staying in the care part of the home as they don't require nursing. All the staff (homemakers) are very
welcoming and can't do enough for you. The care my parents have received is exemplary. It truly is a luxury care home.

My now-deceased, husband chose this care home for his palliative care as his brother had also been in Edwalton Manor and received excellent palliative care. The care and attention given by the staff is second to none. Family and friends were welcomed and nothing was too much trouble for every member
of staff. All diets were catered for and the facilities within the care home eg lounges, cinema, dining room, cafe and hairdressers were numerous. Regular events and outings were held for residents plus the care home's proximity to shops, a garden centre and main roads make it ideal for visitors.

This is an attractive welcoming home. The staff are delightful and (mostly) hard working. The food seems good and the entertainment programme is varied and interesting. Accommodation is pleasant and rooms are spacious. I would like to see them cleaned more regularly as dad's room often has an unpleasant
odour. Fortunately dad isn't aware of this and is very happy about Elstow Manor.

Dorking Manor Care Home

from Chris G (Son of Resident) published on 17 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mum stayed at Dorking Manor for a 2 week respite stay in late February 2025. Overall she enjoyed staying there very much. It is a brand new home which has only been open for 3 months, and as a result there are not many residents staying there yet. Prices are currently discounted making it very good
value.
Dorking Manor is a beautiful building with excellent facilities and a large garden. It is situated in a quiet, lovely area of Dorking, within walking distance of the town centre. The staff are all excellent - friendly, caring and experienced, and Mum was looked after extremely well. The 'homemaker' model adopted by Hamberley Care Home seems to work well, as all staff are engaged in caring for the residents in addition to their other tasks, which results in good social interaction between residents and staff. I have given slightly lower ratings for food and activities, but these will no doubt improve when the home is more fully occupied.

Reply from Lesley Loizou, Regional Community Relations Lead at Dorking Manor Care Home

Thank you for your lovely review, we miss mum here but hope she has settled well into Charrington Manor our sister home. We were delighted we could look after her whilst you were waiting for a room to become available. Our new Lifestyle & Wellbeing Lead starts work with us on Monday 17th March and has lots of ideas for how we can entertain our residents which are increasing rapidly.

My sister came to Templeton Place for respite care whilst my brother-in-law was recovering post op (he is her day to day carer). Whilst it was a difficult situation for both of them, the staff + Templeton Place were fantastic, offering empathy, they were friendly helpful + courteous to my sister + her
family. Infact the quality of care + day to day kindness was fantastic. Customer Relations Manager was fantastic dealing with my sister.

Dorking Manor Care Home

My friend is well cared for at Dorking Manor. All the staff are attentive and ensure that her day is interesting. She has always been a smart woman, and here, she can get her hair done weekly and have her nails painted, which is so good for her morale. Twice recently, when I visited, there has been
live music, and she has clearly enjoyed this. I am welcome to drop in anytime to visit her, as it's clearly important that she regards this as her home now.

Nesbit House Care Home

I was dreading selecting a care home for my wife but not at all. I was sent details of Nesbit House and was so surprised how perfect it was on my visit and accepted straight away without seeing any others. Everything about the home is perfect and my wife couldn't be more comfortable and looked after
by the caring homemakers and other staff. I would urge others to consider Nesbit House for themselves.

We know how intimidating the process of seeking care can be and are glad that you feel you made the right choice. Thank you so much for the positive feedback and we will continue to work toward that perfect comment every day!

Our mother enjoyed a wonderful and happy time at Charrington Manor and she really viewed it as her home. She was full of praise for the exceptional staff and found the environment and entertainment so enriching, she never had a dull day! As a family, we were confident that all her care needs were more
than adequately met and Charrington became an important part of our extended family.

Charrington Manor was the best thing to happen to my Mum in her last years. From the moment I had the initial viewing, I just knew it was the perfect home. The staff are incredible - so kind and respectful and treated my Mum with such dignity. The entertainment was 5 stars - I so enjoyed everything
I saw from singing and dancing to Kevin the Pony and the animal visits! The communication about Mum's health was always excellent. Simply put, Charrington Manor far exceeded our expectations and my Mum was incredibly happy there.

I cannot fault the care provided at Charrington Manor Care Home, in our experience, all the staff are responsive, caring and professional.
My mother recently died having spent the last two and a half years living in residential care at Charrington Manor. As her faculties deteriorated and she became
less mobile and her eyesight deteriorated, the carers adapted her care plan and ensured that she was well cared for, safe and allowed to live with the dignity that preceded her faltering health and wellbeing. In her last few days, the staff not only looked after Mum but also ensured the family was supported too. Several of the carers were very special to Mum and over the years she formed good relationships with several in particular, that made her life at Charrington Manor a happy and fulfilled time.

My father was the first resident to live at Charrington Manor, where he stayed until he died recently at the age of 101. Dad lived there for nearly three years and our family can only praise the care and attention that he received.
From the day we first visited, when the building was not even complete,
we knew that Charrington Manor would be perfect, and we were not disappointed. The dedicated team who knew my father so well meant that they could tailor their support to meet his needs, always with a smile. This has been so important to us, knowing Dad was in such good hands.
The range of entertainment on offer is varied and excellent, Dad really enjoyed joining in the singing. Not only that, but his interests were carefully considered, even having a go at indoor golf.
Whenever we visited there was a lovely welcome from all of the team who knew Dad really well, which we valued.
The very strong leadership, with high expectations and dedicated staff; CM will continue to thrive.

Mum has vascular dementia and significant mobility challenges after recovering from her recent fall and we unexpectedly had to find a place for her in a care home setting at relatively short notice on discharge from hospital. Charrington Manor is beautiful with an immaculately clean, luxury finish and
doesn't look or feel like a stereotypical care home. The manager is charming and very attentive and professional. She responded quickly to my various queries. All the care staff we met were warm and friendly and seemed gentle and respectful in their interactions with residents. The residents were up and dressed in the households we visited and seemed to be enjoying communal life. They were chatting and full of smiles. Of the numerous care homes I visited locally Charrington Manor is, in my opinion, definitely the best.
