My dad had a short stay at Alexandra House after a long stay in hospital. The care team were fabulous. He really enjoyed the food during his stay. My dad wanted to go home, and the staff supported him to be independent again.
Great care great team.

My dad has dementia and was so confused when he first went into Alexander House, but after 6 weeks he had settled down and seems to enjoy it. The staff are amazing with him (he can be difficult at times). The food is great and also the snacks that they are always eating. I can't thank them enough, it
makes me feel a lot better knowing he's in good hands. There's always things to do during the day, the ice cream van came the other week and also baby lambs came. The manager always has time for a chat, so a big thank you to everyone for looking after my dad.

As the parents of our disabled son recovering from a bad fall we have been very impressed with the care from all the staff (from nurses to carers and cleaning staff and cooks), all were very friendly and helpful and certainly helped our son’s good recovery. The food was excellent and varied, the cleanliness
was good and the home had a very pleasant atmosphere.

Mum has now been in Alexander House for 18 months, the manager and her wonderful staff are nothing short of angels on earth. Not only do they cater to the resident's needs, but also take time out of their busy schedules to help and reassure the families of those who live there. The addition of a member
of staff recently is a bonus! Mum loves the pamper sessions, the games, the crafting, the visits from the chicks and the lambs. Keep doing what you’re doing #Team - you’re doing a great job!

My husband was taken to Alexander House temporarily after a fall, he struggled to walk without assistance mainly because of dementia. The facilities and staff were first class and each day there was a different activity to keep the residents active, sadly he had to leave as a permanent place became
available at another care home, I would highly recommend Alexander House to anyone looking for a care home!

Alexander House

from Martyn W (Son of Resident) published on 15 January 2024

My dad initially went into Alexander House for 3 weeks of respite care whilst I was on holiday. On my return, Dad asked me if he could stay permanently as he felt much safer with 24-hour care. At home, he was very anxious about falling. This told me that in the initial 3 weeks, he was happy with the
environment there.
The staff are very friendly, they make everyone feel welcome and it is evident that the ethos is one of care and dignity. Sadly after another three weeks, my Dad fell very ill and he passed away at the home. I cannot praise the staff enough for the way they cared for him in this difficult time and also for the care and respect they showed to my family, nothing was too much trouble. Dad slipped away peacefully, he could not have been better looked after.

My 95 and 89 year old parents were booked into to Alexander House for 2 weeks respite while we made alterations to their house.
My Father has very limited mobility and poor eyesight and his needs well perfectly catered for.
The staff are first class. Very professional, friendly and couldn`t do enough
to make their stay as comfortable and as safe as possible.
Visitors were welcomed and always offered tea or coffee on arrival.
I would have no hesitation recommending Alexander House as a safe and caring environment for the elderly.

Oakhaven Care Home

from Gloria S (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 September 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I intended to keep my mother at home as long as I possibly could but had to place her in a care home due to unforeseen circumstances. I can say 100% that since my mum has entered Oakhaven she has thrived. The staff are exceptional, and the level of care so good I almost feel like she has been left with
family.
My mum has great company, fantastic stimulation thanks to a brilliant entertainment programme and a lovely clean room and sitting area. The staff are attentive and really engaged with the residents. I have no hesitation to recommend Oakhaven.

Sun Woodhouse

from Kirsten P (Friend of Resident) published on 12 July 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My friend moved into Sun Woodhouse on Monday, and when I took him there, he was in quite a low mood, and we weren't happy with the previous care home. The welcome from the staff was friendly and so personal. The first time I managed to visit was yesterday, and he looked fresh, clean, had had a haircut
and was sat outside in the sunshine. He loves being out in the garden, and the staff and handyman spend time encouraging him to engage and stimulate him. He is already 80% better in mood and says the food is fabulous. The staff go above and beyond with me when visiting and with him, and can't do enough. The decor is airy and bright, and the rooms are a pleasure to spend time in.

Sun Woodhouse

My mother-in-law arrived at Sun Woodhouse after a lengthy stay in the hospital, she has dementia and is normally quiet and not very confident around people, but the staff are so caring and helpful; she was soon joining in with activities.
Recently she has been quite unwell, and the staff were extremely
responsive to her health needs when she needed urgent attention.
I feel that the staff take time to speak with relatives and ensure that any concerns are dealt with in a kind and caring manner.
The manager and her team were very approachable, with a cup of tea and a biscuit for a chat.
I would not hesitate to recommend Sun Woodhouse to anyone looking for a care provider for a loved one.

Sun Woodhouse

Staff are rude to visitors. Carers doing cleaning jobs. Some staff are polite, most are not caring and are very rude. Half the time care staff are on the phone asleep or nowhere to be seen. I was made out to be bad because I covered up a resident who was exposed. I have just been shouted at by a jumped-up
carer because I let myself out but I have to pick up people at work so haven't got time to wait for someone to let me out. The level of care if that's what you call it is disgusting. All I get told is it is in their care plan. They might have dementia but still deserve human contact, dignity and care. Wouldn't want anyone I love to be in there for long.

Burger Court

from L H (IMCA (Independent Mental Capacity Advocate) Deputyship) published on 27 September 2022
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

The staff have gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the care has been appropriate and effective. They are very knowledgeable about the client's needs and have placed the client firmly at the centre of care. They have been both open and transparent in their communication, and have worked
hard to foster a calm and happy environment. Staff have fostered a good relationship with the client and have ensured that the client has been involved in decision making and encouraged to retain independence. They have put much effort into making the client's experience a positive and enriching one.

Reply from Yvonne Francis, Registered Service Manager at Burger Court

Thank you for the review, very kind of you. I will be passing these kind words to the staff team who work tirelessly to ensure that Burger Court remains the service you describe and visit on a regular basis.

I enjoy taking part in activities that we do both in and out of the home.
I enjoy sitting with other residents and chatting and doing quizzes and listening to music.
We have just had fun last week celebrating bonfire night and Halloween, my team won the quiz.

My father is a resident and the staff have been exceptional. They go out of their way to cater for his special needs and I have been very impressed at the self-education they have put themselves through to understand his condition. The staff are always very friendly and really seem to take pride in
the relationships they have developed with residents. The facilities are nice and spacious, with good outside areas, but as with everything there is always room for improvement.
I have full confidence in the home, treatment and care they have provided my father and can't thank the staff enough for their level of care.

Review of

Kenmore

from Rebecca J (Sister of Resident) published on 2 August 2021
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

What an absolute pleasure this team are, my sister has been here since having her stroke a couple of years ago. She has come on in leaps and bounds, she's made some great progress. She often spends time with the staff, she sees them as her own personal friends. They have a great hairdresser, and often
the staff will do her hair and makeup so she feels like a million dollars. She was offered to go to a flat of her own, but she decided she prefers to stay where she is. That says it all really. They also do day trips when allowed. She really enjoys been there and seems really happy. So thanks a lot Kenmore team. We appreciate you guys.

Reply from Louise Tarbatt, Service Manager at Kenmore

Thank you so much for your feedback, we really appreciate your positive review. The Kenmore team work hard to ensure the people they support live in a homely environment and are supported to do the things they enjoy. It is a pleasure to be able to support your sister at Kenmore.

My brother has MS and now needs complete care. He has lived at Beechwood for many years. They have made every effort to make his very restricted life as complete as it can be. The Covid 19 pandemic has made enormous demands on residents, staff, family, and friends. He has come through all of this and
I was able to visit him outside in the sun.

My daughter has been a resident for several years now and we have seen many changes. The manager and her deputy have been just amazing and even more so over the last year during very challenging times. They have gone above and beyond. It is such a happy, friendly and welcoming home and my daughter is
very happy there. She loves all the activities running throughout the day and is now starting to go on outings again with the activities team. She has lots of friends there who she enjoys spending time with but has the option to have quiet time too in the library or her room. All the staff are very kind and caring and always make us very welcome whenever we visit.

Fernside Hall

from Sarah T (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 June 2021
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum went into Fernside Care Home just before Covid lockdown in March 2020. Dad was terminally ill at the time and not being able to see mum was very difficult. In our experience, Fernside staff are excellent in the service and care they provide. Mum has been happy when I have contacted her and the
staff have been friendly and polite. They have arranged video calls and on her birthday in 2020, they sent photos of her opening her presents which gave my dad great comfort that she was safe and well. Fernside follows the guidance laid out by the government and tries to accommodate visits as much as possible, with clear booking times and processes. My sister and I visited mum this birthday and I have been to see her a few other times. The interaction she has with staff is great to see. She is relaxed and happy with them and they react appropriately to her dementia and the confusion she shows at times. They help mum appear as groomed and presentable as she always has been. Thank you.

Reply from Paul Jaggs, Strategic Development Manager at Fernside Hall

Thank you Sarah for taking the time to leave us feedback - we really value your feedback. I am so pleased to hear of your positive experiences at Fernside in the last difficult year and a half and glad you got to see Mum around her birthday. I've passed your comments onto the manager and her team at Fernside.
