My dad had 2 weeks of respite care, he was slightly apprehensive before going in, but from the minute he walked in was made to feel very welcome!
The premises were very clean, comfortable and bright. Nothing was a trouble for the staff.
When Dad returned home we asked if he would be happy to go back
again, it was better than he expected, his answer was yes!

Reply from Kelly Doyle, Marketing and Employee Engagement Manager at St George's Residential Home

Thank you so much for sharing this lovely feedback. We know it can feel a little uncertain coming in for respite care, especially for the first time, so it's really heartening to hear that your dad felt welcomed from the moment he arrived. That's exactly the kind of experience we hope to give every person who comes through our doors. It's great to know he settled in well, found the home comfortable, and was looked after by our team, nothing means more to us. And to hear that he'd be happy to come back again is the biggest compliment we could ask for!

My overall impression is that of a caring and supportive environment for my relative. I always feel welcome, I have been made aware of any health issues and they are treated accordingly. GP visit every week and staff update me with all the updates. The overall standard of the home is very good, it's
a very clean home, with no smell. I'm very happy to recommend Meadows Court to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one.

My relative is very happy in this home.
The staff are always willing to discuss matters and are always professional and helpful.
I have visited other care homes and this care home outshines them all.
There are good activities which are varied and something for all residents to take part in and enjoy.
There
are also good links with the local community.

Every member of staff are caring, compassionate and empathetic. They all made me feel welcome and communicate with me all the time. They have been an absolute godsend and the care they have shown both of us is excellent. I will always be eternally grateful to every single one of them including cleaners
and volunteers also. They all have a natural gift with all the residents especially the confused with dementia. Even though it's a challenging job, thus always have a smile on their face. I feel at ease knowing everyone at St George's Care Home. All staff.
Thank you for everything you have done for me any mu mum. Will always be eternally grateful and really appreciate it. Every member of staff has been caring, compassionate and engaging with all of us. None of you lose your patience. Such a challenging job and you are all cheerful even if you are having a tough day. I have seen how you all engage with residents and make them feel at home. Most of residents are very confused and the skills you all use are a gift, you either have it or you don't and all staff I have seen have. Everyone of you has been so patient, gentle and empathetic and encouraged my mum. Always feel welcome when I visit and see for my self that she is well cared for which puts me at ease. Also, thank you for doing things like bringing animals in, doing arts and crafts, people who play music and people who bring school children in. Thank you to the volunteers who spend time with my mum and other volunteers who play games and interact with Mum. I also want to thank you to the cleaners for keeping the home clean and for serving the lunches.
You all work well as a team and should know you are all valued. Thank you to all of you for communicating with each other and other professionals and especially my mum and me. Thank you to the manager for tunning such a fantastic home for residents you should be proud of your team. Thank you for everything. I wish you all the best and wishing everyone of you good health now and in the coming year.
Please take care everyone and thanks so much for letting me have a break and the support I was shown when I was so unwell.

The Beeches

from Sue B (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

My mum was in the beeches from 30 March 2022 to November 2024. The care was good at first, had a great activity lady.
The manager does not listen to your concerns, you had to keep asking for anything to get done. Good carers left because of her, she is ignorant. We started to notice basic care needs
where not being met. If your loved one as dementia this is not the home for them as they can not deal with their agitation. I don't think the carers have had enough training to deal with them.
My mum was given notice, I was so glad as I was looking for another home as we where not happy with the home, its not got a homey feel. If your loved likes to watch tv all day, not much interaction then they will be fine. Sometimes you go in the home, there is not enough staff to keep an eye on the residents especially at weekends as there are a lot of agencies staff at the weekend and they don't know what they are doing. My mum as gone into a nursing home now, the best decision. Avoid if your loved one has dementia

Reply from Kelly Doyle, Marketing and Employee Engagement Manager at The Beeches

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your mother's stay at The Beeches. We value your input as it helps us improve our services. Your mother joined us on 30 March 2023, in our residential dementia care unit, where she initially engaged well with staff and other residents. However, as dementia is a progressive condition, her care needs evolved, and her behaviours became more complex. To address this, we increased staffing and provided Positive Behavioural Support training to our team. We also recruited new staff and introduced new activities to enhance residents' experiences. Despite our efforts, your mother's care needs exceeded what could be managed in a residential setting and required nursing-level care. As a result, we made the decision to transition her to a nursing care facility for her safety and well-being. This decision was made with the utmost care. We are happy to discuss any further concerns at your convenience. Thank you for trusting us with your mother's care.

My friend was looked after very well for the first three of her four-week stay. She has dementia and can be stubborn. She fell out of bed and I was told that there were no injuries. The manager was on holiday for that last week of her stay and the care was reduced greatly. When I took her home she had
a large wound on her right knee, a cut on her left shin where the bone was exposed and both heels were necrotic. Her clothes had all disappeared and she came home wearing someone else's clothes. Unfortunately, she is now at end of life.

My family member came to St George's following a hospital stay & us being advised that they could no longer live independently. I fully admit that I had reservations as they have always been adamant that they would not go into a care home saying they were prisons and they would not be made to go!
From
the first day at St George's, he was "home" and to my amazement, he has settled wonderfully. It really is home from home.
I live quite a distance away & can no longer visit as often as I did but I phone all the time and the staff are so helpful and willing.
It was the best decision (that the hospital) made for us.
He is looked after and cared for and they keep in very regular contact with me so I always know how he is & what's happening.
How could I ever begin to thank everyone at St George's for making the time he has left stress-free and comfortable? They're all truly wonderful!

Reply from Kelly Doyle, Marketing and Employee Engagement Manager at St George's Residential Home

We're truly touched by your kind words and so happy to hear that your family member has settled in so well at St George's. We understand how difficult it can be when someone has strong feelings about not going into a care home, so it's wonderful to know that he now feels at home here and that the transition has been a positive one for both of you. It means a lot to us that you feel reassured by our team's care and communication, especially as you're living a distance away. We know how important it is for families to stay connected and we're always here to make sure you're kept informed and can reach out whenever you need. Thank you for trusting us to care for him and for your incredibly kind words about our team. On first arrival, we were greeted by one of the members of staff. After initial introductions, my sister & I were invited into the Manager's office while Mum was invited to go down and have a cup of tea. While in the office we were given a full explanation of how the home was run. This included all
the safety aspects that the home ran. We were encouraged to ask questions or raise any matters that we were unsure of.
Following this meeting, my sister & I were given a full tour of the home and its grounds. This was very good (as my sister & I left we both commented 1) how clean the home was 2) the friendliness of the staff 3) we had made the right choice.
We finalised any remaining paperwork and prepared to leave after a final chat with Mum. She seemed quite content, the staff reassured us they would keep a close eye on her, with it being her first night.
As we left the home I said it's very good, I will be booking myself in next - we had a laugh.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It's great to hear that you, your sister, and your mum felt so comfortable during your visit. We're really happy that you found the home clean and friendly and that we could answer all of your questions. We know how important that peace of mind is, especially when it comes to making decisions for a loved one. It's lovely to hear that your mum seemed content and that you had made the right decision. We're always here to make sure both residents and their families feel supported, so knowing we made a positive impression really means a lot to us. And your comment about booking yourself in next made us laugh! You'd be more than welcome anytime.
