Dad urgently needed a care home for palliative care. The Willows care home were able to offer the care he needed and were happy for me to go and have a look around without giving them notice. Sadly Dad was only there for 3 days when he passed away in his sleep. Nothing was too much trouble, even providing
cups of tea at 2 am while we stayed with Dad. The manager and team have been supportive and compassionate, dads care was their priority. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this care home.

I have been very impressed with Willows Care Home, especially with all the positive changes that the manager has made. It's a nice feeling seeing my Dad smiling when I visit rather than him upset or not wanting to be there. The staff there are doing a fantastic job and even from admin is easy to talk
to and very helpful. The staff makes you feel welcome and that the residents are all being looked after professionally and being kept as entertained as possible.

Headingley Park Care Home

My mother was in the care home for 17 months and sadly passed away last week.
I would like to thank the secretary as she welcomed us each time we visited.
The care staff did everything they could to make my mother comfortable.
They took her on trips out to the coast and local garden centres, they
joined her in many activities they had parties and little concerts regularly.
Mum made a very big bond with the care staff and made some very good friends.
The staff was so friendly always wanting to make our drinks and coming in for a friendly chat. I would recommend the care home to anyone.

Reply from Karen Sinclaire, Manager at Headingley Park Care Home

Thank you so much for the lovely comments, Brian, I will pass them on to staff.
It was our pleasure to have looked after your mum, she will be sadly missed.

My dad is a resident at this care home and my wife once worked here. Recently a new manager has taken over and now is better run etc. Previous manager had a few friends (workers) who were interested in and affected previous inspections (failed last Autumn 2022) last inspection was a pass, last May.
Informed from wife and the inspectors we talked last May. Things are better now since the new manager came in but still have staff short of problems.

Reply from The Manager, Manager at Headingley Park Care Home

Thank you Paul for taking the time to review the home. I cannot comment on the previous management, but I am pleased that you think things are improving within the home. Can I please assure you that we do not have any staff shortages. My door is always open if you have any concerns you would like to discuss.
Kind regards.

Carers are very caring and patient with all residents and relatives. The care home is constantly kept clean and tidy. I’m full of praise for all they do, my mum is very happy.

Avoid this home like the plague! My uncle was left in his room, slumped in his chair on the dementia side of the home even though he didn't have dementia. He went into the home mid-Jan 2023 and after several falls (sliding out of the chair) he ended up in the hospital mid-March. Sadly he died a few
weeks later. The difference between the care on the hospital ward and Headingley Park was miles apart, he left the home with long fingernails and stubble. Within days on the hospital ward he was clean and looking his usual self. There were other residents walking into his room all the time, one even got in his bed with him, and his clothes were always missing. I understand there are poorly residents with dementia etc, but my uncle was not one of them and he should never ever have been on that side of the home. I tried on several occasions to speak to the manager (in person and over the phone) but she was always 'busy' and to this day I've never managed to speak with her.

A care home that really cares.
The staff are just amazing, my dad has really settled in. It’s a lovely place where the nurses, carers and management can’t do enough for you. They treat Dad with real compassion and dignity, the home has a lovely, cosy and friendly atmosphere. The rooms are spotlessly
clean and homely. Finding this home has made such a difference to us all.
Thank you to all at The Willows, Chesterfield - we are so grateful!

What a disappointment that no one from the staff came to my friend's funeral. After being a resident for 2.5 years you'd think someone in management cared enough. No contact since he died, no message of sympathy or support. Every picture tells a story.

Reply from Mel Heaton, Manager at Headingley Park Care Home

We were not informed of the funeral, unfortunately the home is in lock down and staff, although would potentially not have been able to go, would have liked to at least sent flowers but we were not informed of this.

Our Grandma went to stay at Willows in December 2020, due to no longer being able to live independently. We can't thank the staff enough for the love, care and compassion they showed her whilst she was with them and this was never more so apparent than when she was put on end of life care. When someone
you love is leaving this world the most reassuring thing is knowing they are being cared for in the hours you aren't with them and we can't thank the staff enough for that reassurance. The staff were not only kind and compassionate towards our Grandma but towards me and my sister as well. All the staff were amazing, thank you.

My dad was admitted to The Willows in December 2019, he has both dementia and Alzheimer's. The staff are fantastic with him, so very caring and compassionate. He is very well looked after, showered, shaven and even has his hair cut. He has a lovely room with his own belongings. Not only have they made
my dad feel very welcome and at home, but they have with all our family too. We can visit any time of day and can even have lunch with Dad. I'm not sure where we'd be right now if it wasn't for this place and their wonderful staff.
Thank you all, keep up the great work.

All the staff have been wonderful, welcomed Mum with love, care and compassion; this has been extended to myself and the family. Mum is kept immaculately clean, attention paid to hair, nails and overall appearance. I am kept updated constantly on Mum's health, behaviour, appetite, likes and dislikes.
The selection of food and drink is excellent. I am always made welcome to have meals with Mum. Mum has actually gained weight. Room is beautiful and is kept spotlessly clean.

My Mum has vascular dementia and I am very pleased with the level of care my Mum has received while living in the home. The staff are exceptional, from the nursing staff to the carers, they are kind and respectful to my mother and myself. We are kept informed of any changes that are happening to my
mother's condition. Everybody I have met give 100%, and I am grateful and I will never forget them all for all the help and caring.

We as a family would never recommend this home to anyone suffering from dementia or needing nursing care. This home would do well to appoint a full-time manager to sort out its many problems.

My aunt went into The Willows in January. Unfortunately for my aunt, it was for end of life care. I cannot praise the staff and manager highly enough. From the minute I came into contact with The Willows, all the staff where so friendly and caring - they did not mind how many times I rang. I visited
the home which was bright and clean and comforting - the tea being served looked delicious and was home cooked and living in London it was a relief to know that my aunt was really well cared for at the end of her life. I am only sorry that my aunt did not get to spend any time at The Willows as I think she would have enjoyed it.

The Willows is a wonderful place. The staff is great, they care very much for the residents and the manager is fantastic. The place is spotless and they make the residents and people who come to visit so welcome, always offer a cup of tea of which I am so grateful for that. The food is excellent and
the rooms are very homely.
Overall, it is a fantastic place to put your loved one into. You know they are going to be looked after so well.

From the moment I entered The Willows 2 years ago, I knew it was the place I wanted mum to be. The manager then was very accommodating. Since her departure, I know there have been numerous managers and every one comes with new ideas. That is my reason for marking management as only satisfactory. Every
member of staff work and pull together as a team and I cannot fault their patience, care and love they show.

To all the staff at The Willows

I would like to thank you all for the excellent care you gave my dear brother.

As his health deteriorated, it was a comfort to me to know that he was always shown kindness and respect. He would have been especially pleased that he was always helped to look clean

and smart.

I would personally like to praise you for all the wonderful work you do. The staff are professional, genuine, caring people who care deeply about the people in their care. I cannot recommend The Willows highly enough. Thank you.

The staff in Headingley Park are very caring with my mother and make sure she is well cared for in every way. They are very approachable and eager to help. The cleanliness has improved dramatically and my Mum's room is always clean and tidy. Maybe the only thing that could be done to improve things
is to offer more activities.
