Our dad was placed in emergency care at Banbury Heights Nursing Home. He settled in quickly enjoying the kindness of the staff, the activity sessions & visits from nursery & animal unit. We were impressed with the care & kindness shown to him. He was always in clean clothes, shaved & had a haircut whilst
resident which meant a lot to us his family. Sadly he has since passed but we would definately recommend Banbury Heights Nursing Home.

I booked myself into Esmere Gardens on 7th February 2025 until 14th February 2025. I am an 87 year old lady and on 7th Feb had mastectomy which is a major surgery for me. My experience at Esmere Gardens was wonderful. Everyone was so understanding and friendly, made me feel confident. They couldn't
do enough for me. The food was excellent and they brought it to my room because I had a drainage in and couldn't go to the dining room. They always brought my food in with a smile and a greeting. The carers took my blood pressure and temperature every day. My water was changed everyday as well as my towels. I highly recommend anyone who needs rest or a lovely place to live to go to Esmere Gardens.

Reply from Michael Morton, Business Project Manager at Esmere Gardens Nursing Home

From beginning to end the process of admission, flexibility of treatment of package was excellent. My mother 80 was admitted for two weeks (initially) rehabilitation care, extended to three weeks after physio assessment. The care, facilities, food and love my mother received was beyond expectations.
All of your staff have personality, professionalism and proficiency beyond. Having never encountered care before - This was exceptional. We couldn't have coped or cared for Mum without you and your team.

Reply from Michael Morton, Business Project Manager at Shipston Lodge Nursing Home

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. It truly means the world to us to know that your mother's experience was so positive, and that our care and support made a real difference to both her and your family. We understand how daunting it can be to place a loved one in care, especially for the first time, so it's incredibly rewarding to hear that we were able to exceed your expectations. Our team takes great pride in not only delivering professional and high-quality care but also in creating an environment of warmth, respect, and compassion-so knowing that your mum felt well looked after and truly cared for is everything to us. I am writing to express our deepest gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion provided to my Mum, during her time at Shipston Lodge Nursing Home.
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the manager and I was immediately struck by the warmth and genuine care that radiated from every member
of her team, (we had tried many homes before we found Shipston) The level of attention and dedication shown to Mum was truly remarkable, the care from the whole team was quite remarkable, those Nurses treated Mum like she was their own Mum, never losing patience and always filled with compassion, there are too many names to mention but we appreciate every single one of them thank you.
The manager manages the care home and I've never seen anyone as dedicated, hard working caring. Thank you.
I wholeheartedly recommend Shipston Lodge Nursing Home to anyone seeking a loving and supportive home for their loved ones.
With sincere gratitude.

Do not send family members here. Worst care home ever. Stole money from my grandmother had to get the police involved. When we confronted the staff they served notice for my gran to leave (best thing to happen as the place is so bad). The managers are awful and constantly lie. Worst thing I did was
send my family here. Should have believed the reviews I read. Levels of neglect is unreal. I visited plenty of times and its so poor. Dirty beds and rooms, unresponsive staff, latest was toilets being out of order for 4 days, took videos off this. We constantly took pictures as was so bad, had to be reported. Would not have give this place a single star if this this site would allow it, this place needs to be shut down!

Esmere Gardens Nursing Home

from Z M (Friend of Resident) published on 31 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I had visited Esmere Gardens a few times with some local community groups in the last 6 months or so and was so impressed by the cleanliness, the atmosphere and the staff just from visiting the foyer that when I came to visit a friend who was a palliative care resident up until she passed away I was
even more taken aback!
The room was like a 5 star hotel, my friend and any guests were made to feel very welcome when we visited, her family were invited to visit any time and to be included in any activities, we especially liked the birds of prey recently.
Having worked in care homes before, Esmere Gardens does not have the look or feel of a care home there are no buzzers or bells going off, no staff members racing around seeing to residents. It's all very calm and clean and I take my hat off to every member of staff that work hard to keep it the very best! I'd like to say a special thank you to one special lady who despite her own sadness helped us through ours. Thank you all!

My father stayed at Esmere Gardens for two months respite care following an operation. From our initial enquiry through every aspect of his care our experience has been excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and each staff member's concern for my father's comfort and welfare has been exceptional. All
his medical needs were taken care of by the very professional and caring nursing staff and we were always kept updated. The home is beautifully furnished and extremely clean with a very homely feel to it. His own room was very well appointed and comfortable, the meals delicious and the variety of activities outstanding. The all inclusive charging structure is very reassuring. We can't thank the staff enough for making my father's stay such a good experience for us all. They even gave him a birthday party when he celebrated a milestone birthday.

Replacement of floors should not have affected the care of residents, the owner's problem. Lack of staff, language problems. Second week breakfast after 10 am, dress and wash 11:30 am, had to cancel visitors. The chef did her best with spice allergy. Carers had no idea an unopened tin of mushroom soup
was put on my tea tray. The reclining chair broke down. No hairdresser first week. No special wheelchair for shower facilities. Had to go outside to the dining room through a doorway unsuitable for wheelchairs. Long wait to be taken back to my room.

We'd been desperate to get mum the right care for years, the fabulous social worker at the hospital helped us to find The Julie Richardson Nursing Home, we will be forever grateful. We couldn't have asked for more. Mum presented some difficulties but the care workers and nurses were so kind to her and
we could all see that mum was happier than she had been for a long time. The level of care was second-to-none. Mum blossomed at Julie Richardson and although she only there for six months until she died, we never ever worried for her future again in those six months. Thank you to all at Julie Richardson, you are the best.

Shipston Lodge provided great care for both my parents during the last 18 months of their lives, and I would highly recommend them. The management were very efficient, flexible and considerate when I was organising my parents move into the home. They were able to be together in a bright and large room.
The staff, whatever role, really care about the residents, always addressing them by name, listening to their needs and having great patience and positivity. Social activities we varied, including a pub quiz. Their health needs were met and hospital visits accompanied if necessary. The food was excellent and homemade, with cake available for visits too. Shipston Lodge were supportive when first Mum, then Dad died. Overall a very caring environment.

My father stayed for Respite care at Esmere Gardens in October this year. Right from our initial visit we were filled with reassurance that my father was going to be given the very best care. I always think that you can judge a lot about any place or organisation by the staff, and absolutely every staff
member we met at Esmere was friendly, considerate, professional and generally exemplary. My father was very happy and the stay was both enjoyable for him and ( as a gentleman who can be reluctant to try anything unfamiliar) therapeutic.

We have used several care homes in the locality for respite care for dad and Esmere was head and shoulders above the others in terms of the care dad received. The home itself is stunning and beautifully furnished, but don't be fooled - the staff and quality of care are even better!

My Dad had tried two care homes prior to Shipston Lodge and I was extremely nervous about him settling in. I need not have been. The formidable manager spent a great deal of time getting to know my Dad and fed back to her team his needs and routine. She has a heart of gold. Walking into this luxurious
home starts with a warm greeting from the lovely receptionist. The nurses and care staff always attentively listen to my dad's needs. The in-house physio team is fabulous and the activities team are exceptional. I can finally sleep at night knowing he's in the best care home. All care homes should be like this one.
