Fitzwarren Court

from R G (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 February 2024

My mother spent 5 very happy years at Fitzwarren Court. The flats are very comfortable and the services and facilities are very good. But it is the staff who make it exceptional. The friendship, care and compassion shown to my mother by all the staff - the care manager, the well-being team, the carers
and the bistro staff - was outstanding. She could not have been in better hands, and my brothers and I will always be truly grateful to them all.

My mum passed away while living at Fitzwarren Court Care Home. She lived there for three years and was very happy. She received quite a lot of care, especially in the last few months and weeks of her life. The staff were all amazing. They went out of their way to support my mum and her family, especially
the week before she passed.
I cannot rate them high enough. Thank you.

Everyone made me feel welcome, I met some lovely people and would like to see them again if possible. I enjoyed the activities, which the activity coordinator organised and worked hard for everybody. I would also like to mention a certain carer who gave me his time when I needed it. All meals were delicious
and regularly offered. Staff were helpful, kind, patient and the food mostly delicious and nicely presented.

I am very happy with the way in which my Mum and Dad have settled into their flat at the complex. This has been achieved with the welcome they have received from all the staff who work at Fitzwarren House with their professionalism and friendly helpfulness shown at all times. Both my Mum and Dad are
happy in their new flat and this has made me very happy to see them happy after the big move and the distance they had to move to live here. The complex is in a very nice location and their whole experience so far has made it easy for them to feel at home in their flat. I would definitely recommend the complex to not only family and friends but anyone who asked.

Stanton Lodge

from Barend V (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 6 March 2018

My father-in-law has been here a while, and I live just 10 minutes away - very convenient for us. My father-in-law is so sweet - it makes him very popular. He always is so grateful for everything - thank you for visiting, thank you for helping, thank you for a cup of tea. But what's different about
this place. Number 1 you already should know Stanton Lodge is for couples where one has dementia. And it offers an unparalleled support and care mechanism for residents and their families. Number 2 you might not know. The next-of-kin(s) (NOKs) are a family too. We all know each other's parents and look out for them and support them. It's not unusual on a Sunday afternoon for 10 of us to congregate in one of the common rooms - we'll make tea for the residents - last week someone brought in a great-great-grandchild and introduced the little one to all the residents in the lounge. My father-in-law was most impressed. I don't know, he may prefer Dora the dog. Check it out!

My elderly parents have lived at their assisted living apartment for the past 18 months and are very happy here. All the staff have been excellent, are polite, caring and nothing is too much bother.
There are weekly activities arranged for the residents but no pressure is applied to participate. The
premises is safe and secure which gives my parents extra peace of mind. A maintenance man is also on hand for any small DIY jobs should you need anything done but there is a separate cost. The entire premises is kept immaculate, the gardens at the rear are well maintained and a nice place to sit outside. The other residents are sociable and there is an active residents association. We would highly recommend Fitzwarren Court and it gives me great peace of mind, that my parents are safe and well looked after.

My mother has been at Stanton Lodge for just under a year.
She feels well supported, enjoys the company of fellow neighbours.
Values the independence, she can maintain, but so grateful that there are extremely capable staff available day and night.
As her family, we have peace of mind, that she is
safe and happy.
Management and staff very approachable.

I have written a review previously, but I feel I need to add another now that my mother has been a resident for 9 months. Mum's well being has improved no end, compared to when she lived on her own. She gets to walk to get her 3-course dinners, we know she has been fed, and she gets to meet and talk
to other residents, who are all very friendly. This also takes a lot of pressure off of the family life. We cannot believe how lucky we are to find this new home for mum and she is totally happy with her apartment. The staff are all lovely and are all very helpful.

Stanton Lodge has proved to be the ideal solution to our parents' problems (father suffering from dementia and mother almost blind). They can live there together in their own flat, while completely reassured by the excellent 24/7 care. They enjoy regular activities and the companionship of other residents.
The atmosphere is reassuring yet stimulating, as required by people with dementia and our father has taken up the piano again, after a gap of several years! Their chosen meals are delivered to their own flat, which feels like home to visiting family members. There are trips out to the care home next door with its bistro, hairdressing salon, etc. or further afield for lunch or tea. Regular meetings are held to consult residents and next of kin. We know that when one of our parents passes away, the other can stay on and be cared for. Meanwhile, both parents and the extended family are delighted and thankful to have discovered this excellent facility.

Stanton Lodge

My parents moved to Stanton Lodge 3 years ago. My Mother had dementia and within 6 months of moving she needed a lot of care on a 1 to 1 basis. We were so pleased we moved them to this facility where she was cared for until she passed away last year. The staff understand dementia and how to deal
with it. They saved my sanity on more than one occasion. Dad continues to live in his beautiful one bedroom flat with big bathroom, kitchen, lounge & dining room. He (and I) are relieved he is there as he has company 24-7. He can opt in/out of activities so never feels alone - very important when you are widowed. Dad feels very safe and cared for at Stanton. He is now in a wheelchair and has help with small household tasks. I feel relieved because if he does ever need more care I can make arrangements for this to happen immediately. I felt instant relief once they moved in and I knew they were safe and cared for. As a daughter, this gave me piece of mind and my life back.

Stanton was an ideal solution for my parents 4 years ago as Mum had dementia and Dad needed help to cope with it. She enjoyed the help from carers and especially the communal activities. When she died we knew Dad could stay in his flat and he had the support of the staff and his neighbours.
Now he
needs care himself and we are happy that he is safe and receiving excellent support from very friendly staff in his own home as well as being part of a very close community. My brother and I appreciate the network of other relatives and working with the professional management.

The atmosphere at Stanton Lodge is friendly and the staff see residents as individuals and not as 'units'. The properties are well thought out with space to feel homely but not overwhelmingly large and there are activities should people want them. Staff respond to emergency calls quickly and efficiently
which makes for a sense of security. As a relative, I have no worries about the safety of family living here and the care is very good.

Mum has been at Fitzwarren Court for about a year and it has been a great choice for her. She has benefited enormously from the combination of independent living and flexible care. Her apartment is well-equipped and comfortable and the welcoming environment has enabled her to make new friends.

I moved here in July 2016 and find the care and friendly staff made me feel very welcome. The facilities and help offered to suit all my present needs.
It was hard to leave where I had resided for 40 years but it is only a few miles away and I enjoy being able to invite my old friends for lunch here.

Fitzwarren Court

We had the pleasure of having both my parents-in-law resident in Fitzwarren Court for 20 months. They rented a two bedroom apartment which was purpose built with every conceivable comfort an elderly couple required. They had a beautiful space of their own with the added bonus of a bistro restaurant
for their meals, an on-site hairdresser, transport to take them shopping 2/3 times a week as well as an entertainment program run by a lovely member of staff in the library most afternoons.

The level of care given by their amazing, dedicated team of staff in Fitzwarren Court goes way beyond the call of duty. They are kind, considerate, patient and caring and the dignity afforded to our parents was truly wonderful. If you are in a position of looking for the best place on earth for elderly residents to be taken care of, look no further than Fitzwarren Court.

Stanton Lodge

from Pauline V (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 October 2017

Good facilities, comfortable communal space with activities and special events, a nice garden space and spacious flats. Meals can be bought from a varied menu. Fitzwarren Court facilities nearby are also available to residents - providing a bistro, library and hair salon. The care staff are very competent
and friendly and being a small building of only 14 flats (specialising in support for couples where one has dementia) it has a family feel, as all residents and carers get on well together and are quite a close community. Next of Kin's also have a good network.

The site manager has been excellent and proactive, dealing with any issues promptly and overseeing the Stanton Lodge (assistant) manager and staff. My parents moved there about 5 years ago, ideally, care can be adjusted as and when required. My father is a widower now and he has benefited from the care and support of staff and residents. He often says "I couldn't be in a better place as everyone is so kind and look after me well".

I am so glad we chose Fitzwarren Court for mum to live. The caring attitudes from all members of the staff is excellent, nothing is too much trouble. The place is spotless and safe. Independent living but with the security of knowing that help is there if needed. This is as much about the resident's
families as well - as it gives peace of mind knowing our loved ones belong to the Fitzwarren Court family also. Thank you all for the work and care you give.

Stanton Lodge

Both my parents moved into a flat in Stanton Lodge in 2011 when my mother was in the early stages of dementia.
My father had support from the other residents when my mother deteriorated and needed more care, as well as from the staff.
There is a lovely family atmosphere between the residents who
are dementia patients and their spouses.
Eventually my mother became very disabled with dementia and needs full-time care, which is compassionate and respectful.
My father died in 2016 and my mother continues to be cared for well in her flat and spends most of the time in the communal lounges with the other residents and enjoys the daily activities.
When my father was unwell he was also well cared for at home by the carers.
Many of the carers have been there long term and the residents and their families have good relationships with them.
