St Georges Nursing Home

from S S (Respite Resident) published on 18 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

From my Dads first home visit for assessment, respite care for two weeks in December and then he returned in January 2025 weeks as a family we found the care home to be welcoming to the family, my Dads care by the nursing staff to show my Dad respect, dignity and excellent care for a proud man.
Nothing
was too much trouble, staff available for questions and visiting was if and when we wanted to.
Although this is a Nursing home, it is a care home for dementia patients as well.

My dad, moved into St George's In October after a long spell in hospital. Nursing home is amazing. All the care staff are wonderful with him, he has entered into the severe stage of his dementia journey. Everyone is kind friendly and caring. Dad is very confused and that is frightening for him. The
staff treat him with respect , kindness and understand his needs.
The housekeeping and Laundry staff are amazing .The facilities are spotless clean, dad's room is airy and bright. Dad, always gets his clothes and blankets back, smelling great. Nothing has been lost.
The Chef and kitchen staff have been wonderful at accommodating dad's dietary requirement. The food always looks and smells amazing. Dad does enjoy his freshly baked cakes.
Dad has been a bit poorly and the nurses have acted straight away to get dad the treatment and support that he has needed.
St George is what excellent dementia care looks likes. We can't fault it.
Thank to everyone are St George's for looking after my dad.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Rose Gardens for a couple of months. All the staff are very attentive and gentle and always very accommodating. Today we celebrated my mother-in-law's 80th birthday in the Concord room. The staff decorated the room and provided cake and a buffet. It has been a
lovely afternoon in a perfect setting, so lovely the family could mark the occasion in a private setting.

Most care was very good, just a shame dad fractured him arm when with you.
On leaving they have not given us any information on dad and where he is at now and any changes in him. Plus I just found out that you have permanently taken him off the doctors he has been with. I was told dad doctors would
change but only on temporary bases, now dad is without doctors until I get to doctors to get form and fill out, but as I don't know doctors you use will have to sort that out.

My dad spent his last few weeks at Cherry Blossom Care home and he was so looked after. The staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable. Dad has been previous for respite care and it was his choice to go back there, when he realised he needed more help. From the receptionist,
management, care and nursing team on the 2nd floor, the maintenance man, you were always guaranteed a friendly welcome. I always felt that dad was being very well cared for and I wish he had more time there to appreciate everything they do.
I would recommend Cherry Blossom to everyone and I thank you all for everything.

You hope your parents will always live at home but if a life-changing event occurs and this is not possible, I would definitely recommend Blossom Fields.
Staff are respectful, compassionate, kind and give the time and care needed, which at times have needed flexibility and creativity, to meet individual
needs.
Any questions/queries the family have are listened to, talked through, developing a plan or change of care.
The team of carers are wonderful towards my family member. I can't fault how caring they have been towards my parent, giving peace of mind.
Activities provided are varied to meet everyone's interests and give stimulation.
Meals provided are also varied, presented well, individual dislikes/preferences taken into account. Family members are invited to eat with their relatives which is such an enjoyable experience. Importantly, the food tastes delicious too!
Families are involved, thought about, which is comforting to know when there is an elderly partner still at home.

Reply from Helen Jones, CEO at Blossom Fields

Hello, thank you for your comprehensive and very positive review of our lovely home and team at Blossom Fields. When faced with the reality that your parent isn't best served by staying in the family home, it's a very difficult time for everyone. We've got all the time in the world to speak with people in this situation so they may gain comfort in the selection and the process. No one knows how to go about moving into a care home and suddenly you need to know all about it! So do talk to us, my colleagues are experts and genuinely want to help. As for having meals with us, our household model is all about making everyone feel more at home and relaxed. We absolutely love it when families join us for breakfast lunch or supper! And the continuation of family and friends interactions in the resident's new home is central to their well-being. And each resident needs all of us working together to provide the very best care and service. With my best wishes, Helen.

The care home in Winterbourne, High Street is excellent, top marks from me, cared for my dad brilliantly. When I get old I'm definitely going there. You could ask anything and they would see to it. Food, if you didn't want what they were giving you they would go out their way and go and do something
else. Staff were so helpful, the receptionist people in the offices, they went up and beyond for anything you needed, they would help you. Every single member I spoke to at the care home and also witnessed them caring for other members that were in the home, they all had the same treatment, went above and beyond.

Hello, thank you for your review. "Above and beyond' is a very apt description of the Blossom team's approach. It's a very happy, warm relaxed home, a very good place to be. Thanks for your comments, my colleagues will be thrilled to read them. Cheers Helen.
