Ely Court Care Home

from Andrew P (Brother of Resident) published on 19 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

We are very lucky we found this place for my brother 18 months ago when he was deteriorating with a neurological condition. The care he has received has been exceptional. The staff are amazing and all of them seem to be glad to work there and there's very little staff turnover. My brother took a long
time to adjust to the change when he moved to Ely Court (due in part to his condition) but is now genuinely happy there and doesn't hesitate to say it's his home. The activities programme is impressive and now 7 days a week, and my brother is happy to join in those activities he likes but also content to entertain himself in his room at other times. When the new garden is complete this will make quite a difference for my brother because if there's any criticism it's the lack of exercise available to him (as an adult in his 50s) and I'm sure circuits of the new garden will become part of his routine once it's finished.

Reply from Becci Roberts, Registered Manager at Ely Court Care Home

Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your brother's experience with us. Our team takes great pride in providing compassionate, high-quality care, and it's wonderful to know their dedication has made a positive impact. We are delighted that to hear you brother enjoys our activities programme and we look forward to the completion of the new garden, which will provide a great space for residents to enjoy fresh air and movement. Thank you again for your support, we are privileged to have your brother as part of our community.

Valley View Care Home

from Julie R (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Firstly a big thankyou to all members of staff for the care you gave to my mother when she
came to Valley View care home 17th April 2024, until she sadly passed away on 10th February 2025.
She enjoyed being at the home, and in her first months she enjoyed the activities, the company and
she also
appreciated the way she was looked after.
As time progressed, she started to deteriate, especially suffering from Alzheimers, but she was always
smiling and happy and looked forward to chatting to the staff.
Your staff looked after her and supported her to when she sadly passed away on the 10th February.
It gave us comfort to know that she was not alone, and once again we really appreciate what you did
for our mother.
Your home is such a lovely clean happy environment, we could not of wished for anything more for her.

Reply from Eirwen Jones, Registered Manager at Valley View Care Home

Thank you so much for your kind words. It was an absolute privilege to care for your mother, and we are so pleased to know that she enjoyed her time with us. Knowing that she was smiling and happy, even as her health declined, means the world to us. Our thoughts remain with you and your family. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there's anything we can do.

Abergarw Manor Care Home

from Margaret K (Wife of Resident) published on 10 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My husband was admitted to Abergarw after a long stay in hospital and I was apprehensive as to whether he would settle. Within days, however, the staff, who chose to go out of their way to speak to him and make a fuss of him, were being rewarded with a smile and they were already teasing out the personality
behind the twinkle in his eyes. The nursing staff were second to none, dealing promptly and efficiently with the ailments he suffered during his 8 week stay and communicated well with me throughout. Abergarw certainly has a high number of "stars" right across the organisation eg in front line care, entertainment, cleaning, admin, catering. His birthday there (sadly his last) was actually his best in years! Naturally there were teething problems, mainly around my husband's diet, but these were resolved quickly and efficiently. My only recommendation if starting a new relationship with "any" Home is to arrange an early meeting to agree on mutually acceptable communication routes.

Reply from Marie Lakin, Registered Manager at Abergarw Manor Care Home

Thank you for your thoughtful review. We are so pleased your husband felt comfortable and well cared for, and that his last birthday was such a special day. We truly value your feedback on communication and are grateful we could reach an agreement that worked well for everyone. Thank you for your trust - it was an honour to care for your husband.

Since my wife's serious accident, 2nd July 24, she has experienced four hospitals and three care homes. The staff and care at all units was good but having visited all seven I must say that this one has been outstanding in every section. The way that management and staff treat my wife and all the other
patients has made me realise how lucky my wife has been to end up here to complete her recovery. I am sure that other visitors would second this, me having witnessed their similar reactions when ending their visit.

My dad was in for a short time, but the care and support they gave him and all our family was amazing. The staff were so friendly and knew who we were and who was visiting, which might sound strange. But when dad had been in respite before, even after a week, no one knew us. April Court kept him clean

The staff are simply amazing, not only with our dad but us too, and all the residents from what we have seen, always give us a warm welcome.
Dad joins in most of the activities they offer, they keep us updated on social
media where we can clearly see the happiness the environment is bringing him.
The cleanliness of dad's room is always spotless, and the attention to detail in general throughout the home is above and beyond.
I am still fortunate to be able to take our dad out on a walk due to his great physicality, the surrounding area is simply beautiful for myself, my dog and dad to take a lovely stroll around due to its location and take in the scenery.

Review of

Glain House

from Wendy B (Daughter of Resident) published on 28 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

We chose Glain House after visiting many homes in Cardiff because it was light and airy, the corridors and the rooms were big, it did not feel like a hospital and there was an outside space. We also liked the living space which was a very large area of a combined living room and dining area. My mum
also has a sister there and was recommended by her relatives.
My father stayed there for nine months before he passed away in the early days of 2025. The staff were very sensitive and helpful during this time.
My Mum enjoyed joining in the activities during visits to my father. Visiting family and friends are made very welcome and are encouraged to visit as often as possible. The visiting times are not restricted I would quite often arrive
at the home at 8:30 in the evening.
The staff were helpful and professional, they would do anything they could to help me and my Mum.

Review of

Crosfield House

from S O (Husband of Resident) published on 27 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

5 years ago my wife suffered a hypoxic brain injury, meaning she can't speak or use her hands properly. In February 2024, she was sent to hospital for a course of radiotherapy because she could only swallow food that was cut up in to small pieces. They fitted her with a rig feed after about two months,
she was transferred to a different hospital and while she was there she was told she would be going in to a home. She was crying and screaming, as to her that was really bad news. She then went to a nursing home and it was the worse 5 weeks of her life. Then Crosfield House told her they can accommodate her. She was a bit apprehensive at first but a couple of days after being there, she settled in quickly. She soon made friends with other residents and carers and nurses. She absolutely loves it there and I'm sure everybody there loves her. So I would highly recommend Crosfield House to anyone. The staff are amazing as are the managers.

I thought that it was very thoughtful and therapeutic that she allowed me to have Christmas dinner with my mother, who has only recently become a resident at Crossfield House!
It was a lovely few hours spent with my mother, even though due to her dementia, thought she was in a restaurant!
A big shout
out to the catering team!
The staff on shift on Christmas Day were all fabulous and thanks to them all as being a retired nurse myself I know their work load can prove to be very challenging!!
I would like to give a big thank you to two staff members in particular for the good, clear and concise dialogue I receive from them both regarding my mother's care and health.
I am really happy with my mother's care at Crossfield House and I am grateful for all of you!
You have a great team, you can be very proud!!
