The manager should be retrained/removed. The home should be demolished and rebuilt with the needs of residents in and cleanliness good except for the beetle found in my room! Laundry system at best eratic, staff must respect privacy of residents and not laugh in their faces when complaining. Medical
good but I am awaiting reply to my complaint ref with holding of medication. Food, breakfast good, the rest well it's food!
Overall, the last weeks have been the most miserable and unhappy of my life, things can only get better!

My wife and I recently returned to Florida USA, after visiting Lincoln to see our 95 year old Mum, who just moved into this fabulous care home. We were truly blown away by the excellent quality of the home, and the professional caring FUN attitude from all of the team members. The facilities available
for all the residents are top notch. The food is excellent. Mums bedroom suite is adorable, and everything is brand new. The super Manager, has trained a very special team of delightful employees whom we witnessed interacting with all the residents with a caring approach and genuine interest in their duties and responsibilities.
If you are considering a place for someone you love to call home, look no further than Lincoln Manor - we feel blessed to know our Mum is getting the care and attention she deserves living there every day.
Thank you to everyone involved, we loved watching you all interact with each of the residents, especially with our Mum.

I just wanted to leave an up-to-date review, as Mum and Dad have been in Shipley Manor for nearly 2 years now.
Mum and Dad can be challenging due to aging and Dementia but we have found all the staff really very good in the care and attention they give to our parents. It can vary a bit due to staffing
changes but if ever there has been an issue it has been dealt with quickly and to good effect. Certain staff members are absolutely amazing with my parents and often share the pain of watching mum and dad decline alongside us. Some of the staff feel now like family members.
Just lately we have had stresses due to the pursuit of local authority funding and I can't praise the manager, enough. She has been utterly kind, compassionate and caring. Honestly don't know how I would be managing without her.
So, finally, thank you all so very much. I don't have the words to express my gratitude for all you do.

My mum has had some respite care at Shipley Manor. She was apprehensive about going to the home. However, she soon got to know the other residents and felt completely at ease, in no time at all. She joined in the daily activities. Really enjoyed the food. She stated that all the staff were extremely
attentive and caring.
When we visited, the staff were always courteous and extremely professional, from the manager to the care staff.
We have booked my mum in for some more respite when we go away in April.
I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to other families. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders knowing my mum was safe and secure, whilst we took our grandchildren on holiday.
Highly recommended.

My dad has been at St Mary's Lodge for 4 months now. He has had a tough 4 years, previously staying at 3 different specialist care homes. Finally, after being able to move him into St Mary's, the difference in just 2 weeks was just incredible. It was as though his lights had been switched on.
St Mary's
Lodge is the most beautifully decorated home, with the nicest of atmosphere, it is always immaculate, it doesn't smell, and Dad always looks smart, with his clothes washed and looked after. Dad is on blended foods and they always make sure he gets the nutrition he needs.
The management and all the staff have gone above and beyond to cater for all of Dad's needs, whether he is in the lounge or in his bedroom, Dad is always been watched.
We can't thank everyone enough for finally making such a difference in our experience visiting Dad. So very happy Dad is finally somewhere he deserves to be.

I would like to send my kind regards, thanks, and appreciation to the management and staff at St Mary's Riverside. My mother was admitted to St Mary's just over a year ago. The standard of care that she has received during this time has been excellent. The staff are always very kind, caring, and supportive,
and treat the residents with respect and dignity. My mother's health and well-being have certainly improved from moving into St Mary's after living alone in her own home. She is always clean and well-dressed. She enjoys the food and looks physically well. I have found the atmosphere at St Mary's inclusive, welcoming, and supportive to relatives, too, and we are included in the many activities, or invited to functions. Many thanks to all.

Shipley Manor Care Home

from Jane A (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 November 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

Venue modern and purpose built. Rooms bright and airy. Some staff seemed caring and helpful, others disinterested and unhappy. Bathroom smelt of urine at every visit. Night catheter left on bathroom floor and disposable receptacle reused for emptying catheter bag. Conversations with family not accurately
recorded and family not listened to or involved in supporting mums care. Mums room was at end of a corridor and she was on her own much of the time. Family felt discouraged to visit despite travelling long distances. Family asked to leave at mealtimes as "visitors were distracting and could cause choking issue" mum often left in her room taking meals on her own! Power of attorney for mum disregarded by care home as family not informed of important issue. Mum and family shocked when learning of the issue and the concern reported however family concerns were negated by the manager and no learning for them was identified.

Reply from Jackie Brook, Care Relationships at Shipley Manor Care Home

Thank you for your feedback. We acknowledge the concerns raised regarding your mum's stay and conducted a thorough investigation, which included staff discussions, review of care records, and communication with relevant professionals. Our findings have been shared with the CQC and closed. A choice of room was given and your family chose the room as it had a lovely view of the canal. It was confirmed that your mum ate her meals in the dining room and was encouraged to socialise, though she made individual choices regarding participation. Protected mealtimes, communicated to your family, aim to maintain residents' safety and nutrition. The GP discussed with your mum at length her choices of treatment to enable her to make her decision which he felt did not require power of attorney input. We are committed to reflecting on feedback to continuously improve our care practices. Do not hesitate to reach out directly so we can further discuss your concerns and work towards a resolution.

The entire team and the support they
provided until her passing this week has been first class. Thank you all.

Thank you for your lovely message and kind words about Hutton Manor. We are honoured to have been entrusted with your mum's care and to have provided support during this difficult time. Our team is dedicated to ensuring each resident feels safe, cared for, and supported, and we are deeply touched to know that you felt our care was of the highest standard. It was a privilege to care for your mum, and we are thinking of you and your family during this time. Thank you again for your kind acknowledgement.
