I thought I should write an up to date review.
My Mum has been a resident since winter 2023 and, from the very beginning, both myself, my Mum and my family have always felt so welcomed and cared for in every way.
My Mum has been looked after with all of the care I would wish she would have. All of
the staff are amazing, and I am on first name terms with most of the carers and management. The carers on the floor and all of the management are unbelievable. As a family, we are so indebted to them all. Not only do they look after the residents but they also look after the whole family. I cannot thank them enough. Well done each and every one of you.
I particularly enjoy all of the activities put on for residents on a daily basis which aren't just limited to inside the care home but frequently involving trips out. The home has a strong link with the students at the local college who visit on a regular basis.
I would like to thank each and every one, keep up the good work.

When Mum moved to the home her eating and sleeping patterns were poor. The friendly staff have helped her to settle and with a new routine she is now sleeping through the night. Her eating and appetite has improved. Care is taken to give her appropriate foods and they take the time to mash or cut food
when needed. The first few weeks are looking promising for Mum.

Shipley Manor Care Home

from R E (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 7 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Shipley Manor provided the most compassionate and caring environment for my Grandmothers end of life care. The staff are caring, empathetic and supportive to the wider family. They provided dignity to my grandmother in her final few weeks and empowered our decisions as a family. Shipley Manor I cannot
thank you enough for the care and attention that you provided. We felt like family, the home as also provided after support and stay in touch with us as a family. There genuinely is no other home I'd consider. As someone who works in healthcare and visits many different elderly/residential settings, Shipley Manor is everything and more for your loved one. The staff are knowledgeable and liaise with other healthcare professionals appropriately.
Some complaints on here refer to protected meal breaks being an issue - we found this to be a god send! We knew my Grandmother was fed, cared for and uninterrupted in this time. The home was always clean, bright and full of activity and chatter.

I cannot praise the staff at Lincoln Manor enough. They have all made Dad feel so welcome since he arrived and they show so much care for not only his personal and physical needs, but also his emotional well-being. His interests are very much valued and taken into account when planning activities, some
of these very personalised to him. Not only that, the home is modern, bright and stylish, making it a lovely place for residents to socialise or spend time relaxing in their own rooms.

My husband had a massive stroke in June 2024 and I have visited him every day since. St Mary's care is the best he has had in all that time, they really so want to see him able to stand on his paralysed right leg and be more independent, again, they even let me be with him night and day on our 69th
wedding anniversary last night. Wonderful care from a second family. My husband's right hand is still useless, he cannot write.

The manager should be retrained/removed. The home should be demolished and rebuilt with the needs of residents in and cleanliness good except for the beetle found in my room! Laundry system at best eratic, staff must respect privacy of residents and not laugh in their faces when complaining. Medical
good but I am awaiting reply to my complaint ref with holding of medication. Food, breakfast good, the rest well it's food!
Overall, the last weeks have been the most miserable and unhappy of my life, things can only get better!

My wife and I recently returned to Florida USA, after visiting Lincoln to see our 95 year old Mum, who just moved into this fabulous care home. We were truly blown away by the excellent quality of the home, and the professional caring FUN attitude from all of the team members. The facilities available
for all the residents are top notch. The food is excellent. Mums bedroom suite is adorable, and everything is brand new. The super Manager, has trained a very special team of delightful employees whom we witnessed interacting with all the residents with a caring approach and genuine interest in their duties and responsibilities.
If you are considering a place for someone you love to call home, look no further than Lincoln Manor - we feel blessed to know our Mum is getting the care and attention she deserves living there every day.
Thank you to everyone involved, we loved watching you all interact with each of the residents, especially with our Mum.

I just wanted to leave an up-to-date review, as Mum and Dad have been in Shipley Manor for nearly 2 years now.
Mum and Dad can be challenging due to aging and Dementia but we have found all the staff really very good in the care and attention they give to our parents. It can vary a bit due to staffing
changes but if ever there has been an issue it has been dealt with quickly and to good effect. Certain staff members are absolutely amazing with my parents and often share the pain of watching mum and dad decline alongside us. Some of the staff feel now like family members.
Just lately we have had stresses due to the pursuit of local authority funding and I can't praise the manager, enough. She has been utterly kind, compassionate and caring. Honestly don't know how I would be managing without her.
So, finally, thank you all so very much. I don't have the words to express my gratitude for all you do.

My mum has had some respite care at Shipley Manor. She was apprehensive about going to the home. However, she soon got to know the other residents and felt completely at ease, in no time at all. She joined in the daily activities. Really enjoyed the food. She stated that all the staff were extremely
attentive and caring.
When we visited, the staff were always courteous and extremely professional, from the manager to the care staff.
We have booked my mum in for some more respite when we go away in April.
I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to other families. It felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders knowing my mum was safe and secure, whilst we took our grandchildren on holiday.
Highly recommended.

My dad has been at St Mary's Lodge for 4 months now. He has had a tough 4 years, previously staying at 3 different specialist care homes. Finally, after being able to move him into St Mary's, the difference in just 2 weeks was just incredible. It was as though his lights had been switched on.
St Mary's
Lodge is the most beautifully decorated home, with the nicest of atmosphere, it is always immaculate, it doesn't smell, and Dad always looks smart, with his clothes washed and looked after. Dad is on blended foods and they always make sure he gets the nutrition he needs.
The management and all the staff have gone above and beyond to cater for all of Dad's needs, whether he is in the lounge or in his bedroom, Dad is always been watched.
We can't thank everyone enough for finally making such a difference in our experience visiting Dad. So very happy Dad is finally somewhere he deserves to be.
