I have visited a family friend many times since they have been living at Barton Manor, on each visit I find every member of the team to be helpful, friendly & respectful & nothing is too much trouble for them.
The home is always immaculate, fresh & very welcoming, I look forward to visiting, not only
my friend, but everyone at Barton Manor, it's like one big family.
I must add, over the Christmas month, the place was amazing! The Barton Manor team had it full of festivities every day, bringing lots of happy faces & special memories.
I know it's probably a month late, but Happy
2025 to all at Barton Manor & thank you!

Nice care home on the inside, could do with more care staff being around. Food is great, care staff are friendly. The care home being on a main road isn't the greatest but it's ok. Wouldn't recommend for dementia care especially if it's advanced.

The food has generally been reasonable but occasionally
not to my taste.

Excellent caring staff - always honest and informative. The facilities and meals are amazing as are the rooms which are wonderfully decorated. Barton Manor has a cinema for the residents and a hairdressers. I visited today and the wonderful receptionist had even taken the trouble to take a photo of
my mum after having her hair done. The care manager is equally kind and knowledgeable if you have any questions. They are always upfront and honest about anything you ask them.

All the staff at Holly Grange Care Home need to be recognised for their care, compassion and professionalism, which were all delivered to the highest standards I have seen in any care home.
Unfortunately, Dad only had a short time at the home and didn't have the opportunity to enjoy all Holly Grange
has to offer its residents. The care provided was second to none and this was not exclusive to Dad, it was extended to his whole family, at what was a very difficult time for us.
The home provides excellent facilities, this along with the staff's interaction and the activities organised for the residents makes it and excellent place for loved ones who need that additional support.
If you are looking for a care home for a loved one, then I would look no further than Holly Grange.

Heatherton House

from A B (Son of Resident) published on 28 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5

Dementia care
Dad has been a permanent resident of Heatherton House for 14 months. With the deterioration of his dementia (coupled with a chest infection that took him to the hospital) Heatherton House declined to allow him back into the care home. This surprised us, as the reason that we chose Heatherton
House, was because they promoted themselves as experts in dementia care. In our experience, the dementia care offered by Heatherton House seems to be limited and, when challenging behaviours were expressed, they seemed unable to cope. Furthermore, we were not kept fully informed of incidents that were later listed as reasons for terminating his residency.
On the day we came to collect Dad's belongings and medication, no one from the management team took the time to speak with us, to enquire how he was doing or to wish him well for the future. This was very disappointing and left us feeling that the management team lacked concern for his ongoing welfare.

Mum has temporarily been in Broadland Lodge whilst we wait for the home in Gorleston to open, and I would say the care she has received has been excellent. We have tried Mum in several homes previously for respite, and Broadland Lodge is by far the best we have tried. The staff are the most supportive
and caring I have come across. I can only hope and wish that the same standards are applied to the new one in Gorleston.

First class care home!
My father was only here for a very brief period after leaving hospital - he was discharged on the proviso that the care home could meet his needs and that palliative care and end of life support could be met by NHS nursing the quick response team.
Thankfully all the above worked
out and he made it to the home where he was comfortable, clean, fed and watered, cared for and treated with a high level of dignity and respect.
The environment is first class (I've stayed in worse hotels).
All the staff have been fantastic as has the management.
I thank you all very much for the care, respect and dignity given to my father and will always positively advocate for you.

Facilities are excellent, and the main importance was that I had an update every morning about my dad. Someone always answered the phone which when you have been worried all night about how your dad was it was very reassuring. After a very short period of time they knew a lot about my dad, I sat in
a meeting and was impressed with the knowledge they had obtained in a short period of time.

Thank you for your review Matt. We always endeavour to find out as much as we can about our residents, so that we can share common ground with them, especially if they have dementia. Pear Tree House

My mum has stayed for respite periods of up to 8 weeks at a time (for roughly 2 years now) and she has always been well cared for and treated with respect. The rooms at The Pear Tree House are homely, modern and clean and have comfy beds, TVs, mini-fridge, ensuite bathroom and nice views of the garden.
The premises are always kept clean and tidy and they have a lobby that resembles a hotel lobby. There are no unpleasant odours and it always smells fresh. The Pear Tree was decorated in a lovely fashion at Christmas which is fantastic for residents and relatives. There is a hair salon, small cinema and several lounges, garden rooms and dining areas. Food is lovely and residents have menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a snack menu which can be requested. The care home has good and easy access to GPs, chiropodists and opticians, so this is a major benefit. The home is also secure, so people can't leave or have access without staff permission. I feel very content for them to look after my mum.

Primrose House

Primrose House is a beautiful care home based in Brough. It feels like a high standard hotel and is always immaculately clean however for us as a family it was very disappointing.
My mother in law was served notice from her previous care home due to her increasingly challenging dementia behaviour,
Primrose House assured us after visiting her to assess her behaviour they would be able to provide the care she needed.
Sadly 10 months later this has not happened and yet again she has been served notice.
We have moved her to a home that provides mild, moderate and complex dementia care but the actual move was traumatic both for her and the family.

Holly Grange House

My dadcu (Welsh grandad) moved in just before Christmas and was welcomed very warmly. He has been looked after so well. The staff are so helpful, both the care team and the admin are amazing. Initially, it was a difficult decision to move him into a home and he wasn't best pleased, but he has settled
in so well. All the lovely staff have been super supportive right from the start, and he is happy and safe. We feel now that it was the absolute best decision all round. We visit him as a family whenever we want, there is always a cuppa (and cakes, usually) on offer, and it makes us all feel as though we really are visiting him at his home. Between us and his friends he has visits every day. I can honestly say, after reviewing and visiting many homes locally before he came out of hospital, that this was the absolute best fit. The place is luxurious, and the atmosphere is kind and calm.
I would also say the value for money was the best, too.

Heath Lodge Care Home

from Mike T (Son of Resident) published on 12 February 2025

My father's dementia and occasional falls were making his ability to stay at home tremendously concerning. He moved into Heath Lodge and it was immediately obvious that this was the best place for him. The staff have been brilliantly understanding right from the initial meeting through to the present.
My father has found it hard to settle but this is by no means a reflection on the staff. His dementia does not allow him to recall any of the reasons for him being there as his short term memory is horrendous. However the continual reassurance and care that he receives from the staff along with strategies from the Manager have helped ease him into his new surroundings. Furthermore the constant awareness of health issues as they arise has also given me total peace of mind. They are very attuned to the needs of residents with the very many forms that dementia presents and the interaction is always suited to that individual residents needs. Very happy with what they do for us, thank you all.

Holly Grange House

Mum has been settled in the Holly Grange House from day one, she's settled in very well with the help of the staff which are very caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. The residents all seem very happy when I've been visiting mum and always welcome the residents families to attend any special
events they are organising. There is always activities going on daily, when I was there one day, I got to join in on a game of bowls which was fun.
Mum celebrated her 90th birthday in the care home and they did her proud, we had a lovely buffet and a birthday cake all made by the chef which was lovely and they also organised a singer to come in for an hour so the residents were singing along and dancing, was lovely to see them joining in, they made mum's birthday very special.
I would definitely recommend Holly Grange House to anyone that was looking for a care home for a loved one.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was a delight to be able to celebrate your mum's 90th birthday in the home. She has settled well and made new friends as well as meeting up with old ones! She's an excellent bowler!!
