On the whole a good experience. Could do with more staff at times and there were variations in the quality of the food, particularly in the cooking.
Considering the cost I think the standard should be better,
There were no managers available over the weekends which is very surprising

Reply from jan gibbs, Regional Manager at Heath Lodge Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback regarding your experience. Of course we are disappointed that not all of your expectations have been met and as we take all feedback seriously, please be assured that your comments will be discussed with our team. I can advise you that whilst our General Manager and Care Manager' working hours are mainly Monday to Friday, they do provide management cover at the weekend and of course we always have a Unit Manager covering the whole weekend.

I have held off writing a review for Heath Lodge Care Home for three months to ensure I got a very clear picture of the home, the staff, food, activities and overall care of my mother who is living with dementia....
I can now say, without a shadow of a doubt that Heath Lodge is an absolutely fantastic
Care Home in my opinion. I visit my mother a couple of times a week and after the initial settling in period, which is always tricky with dementia, she is now very happy. All of the staff are friendly, caring, polite and calm, they seem to genuinely care and know every resident well. The meals are delicious and mum always clears her plate (as do I when I join her for lunch!). There are daily activities which are varied and stimulating. The bedrooms are beautiful, my mother's has a door onto the enclosed garden which she loves. I genuinely can not fault this place and rave about it to my friends. It is such a relief to know my mum can spend the rest of her life in such a luxurious Home.

Reply from jan gibbs, Regional Manager at Heath Lodge Care Home

Thank you for your very kind feedback and I am pleased that you have found Heath to be the right home for your Mother. It is always a very daunting experience finding a new home for our loved ones, our team understand this, and they do their very best to make every day special. I will certainly pass on your feedback to our team.

Water jug not changed for 3 days. Same sticker was on saying Tuesday, still the same sticker on Friday. No towels left in ensuite.
Clothes missing not marked because the machine was broken. Dad not shaved daily. Dad was in for respite and ended up in hospital after 10 days.
No help when mum went to
clear room of dad's things.
Not sure how good food was as not allowed to visit at meal times.
Mum only met home manager once and dad had been in the home 8 days.

Waterhouse Manor

from Thelma G (Sister of Resident) published on 7 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Waterhouse Manor is a 5 Star Home Care Accommodation in Fordham, Cambridgeshire. The manager and staff are excellent for my sister. She loved everything about Waterhouse Manor on her first visit and wished she had decided care home living months ago because she felt the joy and peace as she walked in
the door. The accommodation, food and care given is excellent and professional. The manager and the care team were very helpful in assisting with my sister's care based on what she needed after the medical exam and talking with her. She is excited each day and the manager has allowed her to bring books into the home and now she has her own corner for all her bird watching and roaming books outside her room for the resident to read. Overall, my sister is very happy, feels/looks great and safe because the staff has helped her with her social skills. Waterhouse Manor is an amazing place, with a wonderful staff that cares and a great place for my sister. Thanks Waterhouse Manor for saving my sister.

I have been hugely impressed by Coronation House. The staff show genuine care for the residents, spend time with them, encouragement do things for themselves, show signs of knowing them well individually. They are very responsive to the resident's needs. Everytime I visit (on average every 2 weeks)
some kind of activity is underway, singing, dancing, quizzes, film shows etc. The food looks very good. The rooms and decor are fantastic. The staff is very welcoming to visitors. They are clearly proud of where they work. As with the every care home I have visited, I do wonder if residents get enough vitamin D! I love the clothe labelling - v. efficient + works!

My mum has advanced dementia and went into respite for the first time. My mum enjoyed it, she was well taken care of, the environment allowed her to wander safely and there was gardening and a lot of activities available.
Staff were kind and helpful and her room was really clean and well designed.l
was worried about her going into respite but it went well and we are really thankful to all the staff.
I would definitely recommend this home.

Holly Grange House

from Ian F (Son of Resident) published on 1 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I cannot rate this place highly enough. Since we first stepped in we were made to feel welcome - from staff on the front desk to all the staff who are so attentive and professional. Everyone seems happy to be there, it feels like a really healthy working environment.
The facilities are first class.
The room my father is in has everything he needs, from the adjustable bed to the walk-in shower. The food is top quality. There is a library, bar, cinema, and in-house hair salon.
Most importantly, I know my father is safe and his medical and day-to-day needs are being cared for. Residents are encouraged to be active with daily walks around the grounds and there is a programme of activities. Entrance to Holly Grange is carefully managed by staff using security access controls.
Since moving in a couple of months ago my father's health and outlook have improved dramatically. He is happy and his mobility is steadily improving.
I cannot thank the team at Holly Grange enough.

My mum has now been a resident of Woodland Court for just over a month and I can honestly say the level of care she has received could not have been better. Within two weeks, the staff had been able to get my mum more mobile again and she has put on weight following a stay in hospital. Of course the
home is new so fresh and clean but it is the staff and mangement that make this home special and the best in Great Yarmouth (in my opinion having tried mum in 4 other local care homes).

From the first phone call, to a home visit, to an unannounced visit to Barton Manor Care Home, I felt so very reassured. What a kind and caring team of Staff. All so pleasant to talk to, so respectful to their residents and each other. All beautifully dressed, always smiling. Everywhere looked immaculate.
All residents, visitors and staff looked so happy, relaxed and content. There was something for everyone, so many activities, I felt I'd like to stay myself. Every window had a different outlook, so would please everyone. All needs can be met - from personal care to hair done, feet done, everything that would concern you. A beautifully new building with residents needs in mind. I have had this home recommended to me so many times. It wasn't hard to see why. I feel any resident would be happy staying here and their family and friends would be quickly reassured that they'd found the right place for their loved ones.

We have been particularly grateful for advice on how to help our relative to settle and feel at home. Also the sensitivity in realising our sadness in letting them go into residential care.

My father in law has only been a resident for a few days but the staff and care have been very comforting He has enjoyed his showers and food and the staff have been very kind and caring this far. We all enjoyed GATSBY evening on his birthday.

Barton Manor

I have visited a family friend many times since they have been living at Barton Manor, on each visit I find every member of the team to be helpful, friendly & respectful & nothing is too much trouble for them.
The home is always immaculate, fresh & very welcoming, I look forward to visiting, not only
my friend, but everyone at Barton Manor, it's like one big family.
I must add, over the Christmas month, the place was amazing! The Barton Manor team had it full of festivities every day, bringing lots of happy faces & special memories.
I know it's probably a month late, but Happy
2025 to all at Barton Manor & thank you!

I am so happy and impressed with the way Mother is being cared for, I doubt if there's better. The staff couldn't be more attentive. Bless them and thank you so much.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

I have been a resident for 4 weeks and have found my stay very pleasant and physically I have improved considerably. The staff have been very pleasant and supportive and the facilities are excellent. I have not taken part in many of the activities.
The food has generally been reasonable but occasionally
not to my taste.

Excellent caring staff - always honest and informative. The facilities and meals are amazing as are the rooms which are wonderfully decorated. Barton Manor has a cinema for the residents and a hairdressers. I visited today and the wonderful receptionist had even taken the trouble to take a photo of
my mum after having her hair done. The care manager is equally kind and knowledgeable if you have any questions. They are always upfront and honest about anything you ask them.
