I'm so impressed with the expanded knowledge of the whereabouts of my muddled school friend - even on day one of my visiting they all knew where she was. The entertainment manager is beyond brilliant - he cares so much, when I visit my dear school friend he is able to regain so very many memories of
the residents.

After four stays in respite care, we persuaded my mother-in-law to become a permanent resident. At home, she had no life living in just one room unable to do anything for herself as her mobility and her mental capacity had declined often sitting on her own for long periods of time. Carers and family
did what they could but we were becoming increasingly worried about her. Fast forward just over two months and the difference is incredible, Mum is a completely different person since becoming full-time, she is much more mobile and able to do so much more for herself, finding an independence she could have never been able to achieve at home, she looks more like her old self again. One of her highlights is having a regular bath and getting her hair done. We knew the home as Mum's sister is also a resident, the staff are very friendly and always happy to help answer any questions and great at letting you know if there are any issues with Mum.

Dad has been resident at the home for nearly a year following a prolonged hospital stay and a decision that he could no longer manage in sheltered housing. We had no prior experience of the care system, but we received a warm welcome and some sound initial guidance. The home is clean, cosy and well-maintained,
and the setting is lovely too. Meals are plentiful, varied and nutritious, and although Dad has never been much of an eater - even less so now he's got less mental capacity - the staff ensure he gets appropriate supplements (and a seemingly inexhaustible supply of chocolate biscuits). Every member of staff is very friendly, approachable and eminently sensible. The staff are great at keeping me up to date whenever Dad's condition changes, and they always inform me promptly of any ambulance call-outs, GP visits etc, regardless of the outcome. I feel that they've taken the time to really get to know Dad as a person, as well as to understand his conditions and medications.

The staff are wonderful at this place. Two particular members of staff are always there to reassure me about my mum's progress. All the staff are friendly and super helpful, and as I work abroad, it is good to know my mum is safe and in caring wonderful hands.

My 101-year-old father was moved into Thurleston care home after it became too much for him to remain living independently in his home.
The staff were welcoming and accommodating, considering he'd lived all his life in the house he was born in and was somewhat reluctant to move. However, he soon settled
in and was happy.
The care and attention he received was second to none. He never had any complaints, and neither did my brother or myself. When his family visited they were made very welcome and any questions were always thoroughly and thoughtfully dealt with.
The building and facilities were always clean and tidy.
The food was excellent and plentiful (much to my father's pleasure, as he loved his grub).
I cannot speak more highly of the staff. My father was on a slow downward spiral when he entered the home and the love and care he received was beyond outstanding.
On his passing, he was treated with great care, love and dignity. We received wonderful support from the staff.
Thank you.

From August 2023, when my mum was admitted as an emergency, Thurleston House and the team have been fantastic. I am located abroad so the team keep me updated via email with photos and are always willing to locate my mum when I call so that I can speak with her. At the same time, when I have been in
person, you are always welcomed with a smile and cheery conversation.
It has been easy to communicate not only with the senior management team but also the accounts department whenever I’ve needed assistance.
It is reassuring to know that Mum is being looked after and most importantly, I know that she is safe!

My friend is a resident of Thurleston Lodge. He is very happy there. He receives excellent care, and good food and there are always easy activities that he can enjoy when he is well enough. I have always found the staff quick to respond to any health issues, and I am notified if there are any concerns.

My sister-in-law moved into Thurleston (together with her husband) in November 2021. The process of moving into a residential home was made very easy by the staff. Unfortunately, her husband has since passed away and again the arrangements were carried out sympathetically and efficiently by the staff.
I know that my sister-in-law greatly appreciates the efficiency and kindness of the staff. The strength of Thurleston is the quality of the staff.

Mum has settled in well and loves her carers, she’s very content, the only issue at the moment is a lady who keeps going into Mum's room and it is getting Mum very agitated and we are very worried about how angry Mum is getting about it. I’d hate for anything to happen as Mum is threatening to hit her!
Not sure what can be done, but we are concerned.
Would also love to be able to make Mum a cup of tea when we visit if at all possible. The staff are so kind and will make one, but would like to do that for them as they have enough to do.

Whenever we visit we find the staff always have time to discuss any concerns. The home is clean and well cared for. The person we visit has dementia and is hard of hearing but the staff do their utmost to communicate with her. Whenever we are unable to visit the staff will always be prepared to talk
over the phone. And whenever there is a problem they always telephone me to let me know.

I was a senior GP covering a particular area so have worked with most of the care homes in the area. All our staff loved Carleton House more than any other. Our nursing team used to say they had booked their places there!
When my mum needed care Carleton House was the obvious choice. The manager has
been fantastic and visited Mum in the hospital to assess her and together with her team have made Mum feel loved and cared for. Nothing is too much trouble. I feel they have got to know her as an individual and personalised her care. The whole team from managers, carers, cleaners, kitchen staff and laundry staff just go above and beyond.
I know from visiting dozens of care homes in my job that grander-looking homes do not mean better care. It's the kindness of the staff that makes this place perfect.

Carleton House is a very welcoming home set in beautiful surroundings. My mother has been a resident in Carleton House since July 2021. The staff provide excellent personal and social care. They are dedicated, caring and supportive of both my mother and our family. The care team keeps us updated about
all aspects of her care. My mother always speaks highly about the quality of the food and the care she receives. As a family we are extremely happy with all aspects of her care and the activities provided by the staff at Carleton House.

A lovely family run home, it was very hard for me to put my mum into a care home, but within a few days I was able to sleep again at night. Everyone at Carleton House is friendly, supporting not only your loved one, but the family as well. The home is like one large family, the food is amazing, always
smells so good when I visit mum, and always very good quality. Always plenty of activities within the home, and lovely gardens to sit in, in the summer. Decoration and cleanliness within the home is of a very high standard, I would recommend Carleton House to anyone looking to get help with their loved one.

My parents moved to Carleton House in July 2023 when my dad was no longer able to look after my mum after living in their house for 65 years. They share a joint room in the home. The transition was difficult for them but the personal care and attention shown by the management and caring staff have been
fantastic in helping them to settle.
As the home is small the carers are able to bond with the residents which gives the home a family feel and a personal touch.
There are lots of entertainments provided that the residents can join in with if they wish to help stimulate and pass the time. We have attended the summer BBQ, fireworks display and Christmas pantomime at the home which have been brilliantly organised.
I would like to thank all the staff for the care and attention they provide for my parents and wish them all the best for the future.

My mother has been a resident at Carleton House since June 2023. She has been very well cared for and her diverse needs are invariably accommodated, carers have been kind and supportive to her and she loves the food. All the staff chat with her and recently she has told me ‘she feels happy’. There is
nothing more one can wish for when making this difficult decision that someone needs more care.
There is always a warm welcome for whoever visits.
Thank you.
