Since my Uncle moved into Astley View we feel he has received first-class care, which as a family we appreciate so much. All the staff are interested in the residents but also are very friendly to people visiting. My Uncle is in residential dementia and they have done an excellent job keeping us informed
about his condition and care plans.
The home itself is stunning, the bedrooms and communal areas couldn't really be better.

My father-in-law moved into Ashton Manor in October 2024 following a stay in hospital. We were unsure at the time if the move would be permanent or just for respite. He quickly settled within the home, along with his wife and received amazing support from the staff. Through being at Ashton Manor he
has received excellent oversight of his care needs, with the team liaising with various health professionals. He has gained weight and looks wonderful for his age. He can now spend quality time with his wife without the pressures of managing a household, reducing the pressures on myself and my wife. Thank you to the whole team.

Reply from Joanne Tyson, Registered Manager at Ashton Manor

Hi Tony. Thank you very much for taking the time to submit a review. We are pleased that you can see the progress that your father-in-law has made during his time at Ashton Manor. Settling into a care home, after living at home, can be a worrying time for not just the individual, but their family, and we strive to make to the move as seamless as possible. It is a pleasure to have your father-in-law living with us.

My mother has recently relocated to Ashton Manor in the North West, to be near to family. This is not easy for her after 40 years down South. However, the staff at Ashton Manor have been very helpful and supportive. She is enjoying her new home and the level of care is excellent. She has fairly high
needs and the staff have adapted to her without any problem. Medical and health matters are being addressed promptly and without fuss. Her sleeping is already much improved. It is early days for mother but there are clearly lots of activities in the home if the guests wish to take part. My mother also rates the food and nutrition highly, which can be taken in the room or in the dining areas. Ashton Manor is clean and modern. It is welcoming for family and guests. We have been made to feel part of the family. We have a high degree of trust in the management and staff. Communication is also very good.

Reply from Joanne Tyson, Registered Manager at Ashton Manor

Hi Alex. Thank you very much for the feedback. Mum's situation was a very worrisome time for both her and yourself and I am glad that my team was able to make the transition as smooth as possible for her. It is lovely to see your mum settling into the home and feeling more comfortable around both the team and other residents, the progress is noticeable as she settles and we will continue to support her with her journey.

The process of integrating my dad into Ashton Manor has been outstanding. It was emotionally difficult to admit him, but the staff welcomed my dad with sensitivity and care when he arrived in July. Since then he has come to feel that Ashton Manor is his proper home. He has mixed dementia so his issues
are complex. The positivity and sensitivity of staff during interactions have always been impressive and the Christmas period was beautifully celebrated. My father is an artist, though sadly this is impaired by his condition and the arthritis which prevents him from performing with any manual dexterity.
His work is on the walls in his room, and staff frequently inquire about its meanings and why a particular title has been selected. My dad's answers are frequently varied and may sound obscure but staff always discuss it with him.
Staff are always welcoming and delightful to talk with. They offer a lot of detail about what they have been talking about with my dad. I don't worry anymore.

Reply from Joanne Tyson, Registered Manager at Ashton Manor

Hi Julian, thank you for the positive feedback. Placing a loved one into the care of another is always a difficult process for family members, but at Ashton Manor, we try to provide guidance and reassurance throughout the journey to reduce that pressure. Dad is a very interesting gentleman whom we have all grown fond of and I will make sure that your positive feedback is shared with the team, which we are extremely proud of.

As a family, we are grateful for the kindness and expertise of all the staff at Astley View. As a nurse who has gone into many homes, I have never experienced this level of empathy and skill. It's exceptional.
The environment, activities and food are outstanding.
We never worry about my sister's
care which has put not only my but my 90-year-old parent's minds at rest for the first time in decades.
Exceptional throughout.

I could not have found a better place anywhere for respite care. All the staff were caring, compassionate and friendly. A lot of work went into special events of which there were many ie barbeques and games afternoon. It was spotless and clean, no nasty smells. Food was very varied with a good choice.
In no way could I fault anything. I feel privileged to have stayed here.

My father suffered from dementia and parkinsons, he came to the home directly from the hospital. From the very start, the staff were wonderful, they were all professional, they kept me and my family fully informed of issues. In the short time my father was in the home he was looked after very well and
respectfully. I can't thank you all enough for letting him retain his dignity in his last few days. My mother and I were able to spend his last moments together. The staff were again supportive and respectful to our loss. Thank you so much.

Ashton Manor is a beautiful, modern care home. As soon as I walked through the front door I could feel the love and affection my husband would get. It isn't just a building, it is the staff, all the way from management to young carers, everyone who worked there. They provided us with anything we wanted
in a truly professional way. Thank you very much, my husband had the best treatment and died with dignity.

The care at Astley View has been outstanding. The care and dignity my grandma has been cared for has been incredible, making sure she wasn't just an old or poorly lady but the person she had been beforehand. The staff are friendly, warm and genuinely care about their residents. I would not want my gran

Astley View

from Graeme G (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 26 September 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Astley View certainly surpasses all the expectations I had following my initial visit. Don't get me wrong, my initial visit was impressive, and I came away thinking this was "the place". However, maybe I initially thought some of the claims and objectives may be somewhat too positive. But genuinely
they were 100% spot on.
The team said they have a brilliant relationship with district nurses, doctors, pharmacists, etc, and this has been proven to be a key strength. The on-site staff are amazing, and they have extra specialist knowledge on tap!
The three-way link of AV staff, DN & St Catherine's has given us great comfort and confidence.
I cannot praise highly enough the attentive, caring, and personal way the team is with not only the resident but also with the family.
When I described Astley View to the family, I said that it had redefined what a "care home" is. I now know I was accurate and believe they have set the bar extremely high!
Thank you.

I cannot praise Astley View enough for the care and compassion both my parents received. They both became very ill suddenly and after long hospital stays and 3 months apart were reunited at Astley View. Their needs were assessed individually and the best care was provided for both of them. The staff
has been absolutely amazing and not only cared for my parents but also for us as a family, checking in on us to make sure we were all okay, especially knowing we had a distance to travel each day. Both my parents felt safe and secure and knew that their needs were being met and that nothing was too much trouble. Living away from the area I could return home each night feeling reassured they were getting the best possible care and truly being looked after. I would have no hesitation recommending Astley View to anyone - everything about it is spot on!!

Mum is recently back at Astley following surgery for a broken hip. She was desperate to get "home" which is now how she views Astley following permanent residence since April this year. I visited yesterday and spoke to several staff. I feel the care she is getting is really excellent. In particular
yesterday the two ladies were really lovely. Well done Astley it's so good to not be worried about the care num is getting.

Mum spent 5 weeks in Ashton Manor (AM). Mum had some mobility and communication issues and we needed a home that could support Mum while she received rehabilitation.
Our main reasons for choosing AM were that every room has a full en-suite, wet room/bathroom and that staffing levels - especially overnight
- seem higher than other care homes.
During Mum's stay, we were impressed with other aspects of AM. Rooms and corridors are large, bright, airy and clean. There are sitting rooms that feel homely and not institutional. Food is good and there is a program of activities to keep residents physically and mentally active.
Most important was the level of care and support provided. We felt Mum was safe and well looked after. Medication was administered safely, assistance with personal needs was provided quickly and with dignity, staff was friendly and kind.
Yes, AM fees are a bit higher than other homes, but I feel the incremental cost is worth it for the difference in care.

Reply from Joanne Tyson, Registered Manager at Ashton Manor

Thank you very much for your wonderful review, and the feedback about the home. It was a pleasure having Mum stay with us, and to see the amazing progress she made during her time with us. The support that you, your sister, and the rest of the family provided to Mum complimented the care and support provided by my team and also contributed towards the progress your mum made. Thank you for choosing us to be part of her journey and best wishes for the future.

So far everyone I've met knows my Aunt. She feels safe and secure and I know she is receiving the very best care.

My mother-in-law who five months ago, several times, given from 48 hours to 6 months to live is thriving since we have moved her to Astley View Care Home. My mother-in-law has to have weekly blood/platelet transfusions. If we cannot take her to the hospital they willingly step in.
