The main contribution point is that in the case of care workers, there is little continuity. If you wish to meet up with staff on a particular day, they were not there on the previous day. So, issues go unresolved. On the plus side, the food and menu is fine. The nurses are professional and attentive.
The home is kept tidy. Excellent reception!

Forth Bay Nursing Home

from A H (Son of Resident) published on 7 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother has been a resident at Forth Bay Nursing Home for almost three years. From the outset, when selecting Forth Bay, we were impressed by the care and attention of staff, and that has continued to this day. At all times, Mum has been treated with respect and incredible kindness and friendliness.
This has extended into the local community, where she has been recognised and welcomed to local events. Despite Mum's age and limitations, the staff have all gone out of their way to make her feel included. They have frequently gone the extra mile "to make her feel at home"

Reply from Home Manager, Home Manager at Forth Bay Nursing Home

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! We're so glad that you've been happy with Mum's care throughout her journey at Forth Bay. It's incredibly important to us that our home is a real community for our residents, and we're so lucky to have Mum as part of it! We're delighted to hear that she feels at home! We really appreciate your kind words about our team - they really do go the extra mile, and your recognition will mean so much to them.

My partner has now been in as a resident for two month and she appears to be very settled. The staff are very attentive to my partner's needs and she is always treated with dignity and consideration. There is a very homely feel in the nursing home and everyone looks to be well looked after. Very interested
to see future activities which hopefully my partner will engage in. Looking forward to the summer months to get out into the garden. All good.

Mum was here for a four-week respite. With her having dementia the family has been really happy with the care she has received. There are so many different activities going on and they encouraged her to get involved. Taking her out for lunch as well.
When the time comes this well be the place where
she'll stay. Staff very caring and trusting.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Staff are friendly and welcoming, from an overall experience I feel there needs to be more activities/outings for residents to engage in, there have been a few times I've visited and residents are sitting round the TV watching inappropriate films with violence, swearing and they have complained. I feel
staff should be more aware of this, it shouldn't be relatives that are having to find something more
suitable to entertain them. There are times when I know my gran is well looked after depending on what team is on that day. Personal care and hygiene could be improved.

Most of the carer are good, but some don't understand what your are saying. My husband cant walk or talk therefore there are no activities. No idea what the night shift do, but my husband chair is often dirty, can't clean it through the day as the only time he is out of it is bed time. The laundry is
not the most hygienic sometimes smells and stained.

Mum is now very well settled in Scoonie House and thoroughly enjoys her time there. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere pervades throughout the whole establishment and is complimented by the friendly professional staff who cannot do enough for all residents. When we visit mum we are treated like family
as is mum. Since moving into Scoonie House in April 2024, mum has come on leaps and bounds both physically and mentally, all credit to the care and attention granted to her. Christmas time has been a joy for mum with activities everyday and she is so looking forward to the big day. The staff have been amazing to make this happen.

Both my parents moved to Scoonie Care Home at the end of August 2024. Both have very different needs, my dad is physically frail but still mentally very able. My mum has dementia and has no independent mobility. From the first time I took my dad to see the home he has been treated with dignity, respect,
and kindness. From the managers to the seniors, carers, and domestic staff, everyone is friendly and caring. One of the things that stands out most to me though, is how inclusive the home is. My mum would be easy to ignore. They could leave her sitting watching the TV and she'd be ok. But they don't. They encourage her to join in activities, they make a point of speaking to her and include her in conversations, and they've even had her out for lunch. My dad loves the meals, and the trips to The Bistro when visitors come in - the home's own cafe area.

Scoonie House

from J W (Friend of Resident) published on 24 September 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I am very happy that my friend is living in such a comfortable care home. My first impressions of the home made me feel that my friend could settle in very well. Coming from a quite large 2-bedroomed home to having her own bedroom with toilet was just what she needed. She was very fortunate that everything
in her room was brand new. The home itself is clean and odour-free. She has been there for a few months now and appears to be content. The staff are friendly and recently I attended a relatives meeting which was very informative. My friend has been taken out a couple of times which is great and has benefitted from the hairdressing facility.

A huge thank you to all the great staff at Strathview for the real care and attention they give supporting Mum. She has been a resident for nearly 5 years and in this time has become increasingly dependent on carers to do everything for her as her dementia progresses. They truly know her and they are
so patient, kind and respectful of her needs and moods, whilst being mindful of others. We are always welcome to visit and be treated as part of the 'family'. It is such a comfort to know she is there and we are extremely grateful to the whole team who work so hard to make Strathview such a nurturing, safe and positive place.

Delighted that my father has settled so easily and happily at Strathview, having come from another home. The care team have really helped him without overwhelming him and has managed his needs and equipment very smoothly. The move means he is now in the same home as his wife and it's great to hear that
they spend time together when appropriate. It makes visiting as a family much simpler and the home is great at providing space and support for this to happen.
