I really couldn't ask for a more caring home, I feel like I have been adopted by an extended family. My mum was so wonderfully cared for, I couldn't have wished her to be in a better place, the level of care we received was absolutely amazing. Every member of staff was so lovely, I have never experienced
such warmth and love from people I hardly knew. My dad is currently there, and the care and support has been amazing. They even took him on a trip to the spitfire museum. Dad said nothing is too much trouble, the staff are fabulous. We get a warm welcome every time we visit, Dad has been able to bring in his pictures from home, so he can have familiar surroundings. I can relax knowing that Dad is safe and well cared for.

My mum has been resident for 5 months now. The place itself is a lovely environment and it's great to visit. But more importantly it is well organised and I can relax as I know mum is safe and happy. There's always something going on. The people who care for mum are lovely. Kind, jolly and patient.
I can't recommend this place enough.

Furze Field Manor

from S D (Wife of Resident) published on 10 January 2025

After 53 years of marriage, the need to place my husband in a care home had to be faced. From the moment I walked into Furze Field Manor I knew this was where I wanted him to be. The warm and welcoming way I was met was a clear indication of the care, dignity, respect, and support I was looking for.
The Management of the Home is excellent and they and all their wonderful team are like an extended family to not only my husband but to also to our family. Their care, time and understanding is never rushed. The choice of delicious and nutritious food is served in first class dining areas, with attention paid to residents dietary needs.

I cannot find appropriate words to rate the Home and the staff highly enough, but what I can say is if my beloved husband cannot be with me, this is where I am happy he is. Thank you to all at Furze Field.

from Kim B (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 8 January 2025

I looked at many care homes for my 97 year old grandmother and Furze Field Manor was by far the nicest. My grandmother was not looking forward to the move at all but has surprised us all by immediately settling in and reports that she loves it there. I think this is due to the wonderful facilities and
food but more importantly the staff. They take the time to update me on how she is doing and address any of my queries very quickly. They are very kind and engaged with the residents. It's good to see the same staff members regularly. The management team have been delightful to deal with and the whole process has been very easy. The Memory Clinic nurse couldn't say enough nice things about Furze Field Manor, not just the facilities but that she spotted staff spending time with and engaging with residents which is so helpful. I would highly recommend.

Reply from Wendy Peacock, General Manager at Furze Field Manor

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this amazing feedback. It is our pleasure to take care of your grandmother, she has settled into her new home very quickly and is already taking part in and enjoying a wide range of activities and even been on a couple of resident outings in the short time she has been at Furze Field Manor. Spending time and engaging with our residents, outside of providing day to day care, is really important to us and one of our core values and so hearing this feedback from both you and a healthcare professional and visitor to the home is special. Thank you again for taking the time to provide this review.

Mum moved to Furze Field after a very frustrating time at another (much older) care home. We are very happy with our decision.
The staff are all very engaged with the residents and their families: helpful, professional, and above all genuinely caring. The quality of the food is exceptional. All of
the support activities (housework, laundry, IT etc.) are carried out smoothly and effectively as part of the running of a friendly home. Communication from the managers and care staff of the home has been diligent, timely, and proactive: I have not had to spend any time chasing things up.
I feel that my mother is safe and well looked after by people who care about her as a person.

Reply from Wendy Peacock, General Manager at Furze Field Manor

Thank you for your feedback which is much appreciated. It is lovely to hear that you are happy with all aspects of our service and that you feel your mum is safe and being cared for by people who care about her as a person. This very much aligns with our core values and ethos. Your positive feedback means a great deal, especially to the support teams who work tirelessly in the background but may not always be front of house. It is our pleasure to take care of your mum and thank you for choosing Furze Field Manor.

My mum had a very good experience during a short respite stay. The day after she came back home, she said she wanted to return for good and didn't want to consider other homes because she thought the staff were excellent and she had made friends there. Mum is returning permanently in 2 days. Permanent
care is a huge decision as it involves the sale of a family home and parting ways with belongings but mum is positive about the decision and is looking forward to it.
The staff and facilities are excellent, and Rownhams Manor is sociable and inviting. All residents seem to be very content.

Somer Valley House was just what Mum needed- kindness, empathy, attentiveness, and more, nothing was too much trouble. The staff were so welcoming and keen to make Mum's stay enjoyable. It was lovely to see her enjoying activities and being pampered by having her hair and nails done. As a family, we
also felt welcomed and enjoyed cups of tea and biccies with her each time we saw her.
Contact with other professionals and ourselves was efficient and clear, we felt so confident that Mum's care was holistic. We are so very grateful.
The rooms are beautifully furnished and so stylishly as are all the other areas, mum said the bed was really comfy.
We are so grateful that things worked out so well, a huge thank you to all the staff who made it so enjoyable for Mum and also for it to be such a pleasure to visit her there.

My dad initially stayed at Furze Field Manor for respite care. A sudden further change meant he required full time care and our immediate choice was Furze Field. I'm full of praise for the way the home is run and for the staff that work there. The home is clean and welcoming and the food is brilliant!
The staff are kind, friendly, caring, respectful and thoughtful and always professional. The last few months have been incredibly hard for us as a family and we have all been supported in varying ways by Furze Field. We could not have asked for more, as Furze Field is like home from home. Even my teenage sons look forward to a welcoming environment where they can spend time with their granddad. We have been able to enjoy time as a whole family, having a delicious lunch with my father. I can honestly say many of the staff who look after my dad have become friends who I trust and respect. Thank you to all at Furze Field for bringing some light and kindness to us at a very tough time.

Thank you so much for this amazing feedback! It means a great deal to hear that we've been able to support you and your family during such a tough time - not just by caring for dad but welcoming the wider family to the home to join dad/granddad for meals and hopefully providing a listening ear and supporting you in other ways. To hear that we've made a difference means a lot. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback.

My father is a resident here at Somer Valley, the home is brand new so obviously very very nice, the facilities are great. Room is a good size and a great size wet room. The best of this home is the staff by far, everyone I've met has had my dad's best interests at heart and they do an amazing job with
him, I know how difficult he can be and nothing is too much trouble. They always make us feel welcome and know who we are there to visit. I would not hesitate to recommend as a care home for a family member. 11/10.
