Harmonia Village

from Kate W (Daughter of Resident) published on 14 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

The team at Harmonia are quite simply amazing. My father had very severe dementia but remained physically quite strong and we were unable to find any care homes that could meet his needs and keep him safe despite trying several that apparently specialised in dementia care and challenging behaviour.
Dad eventually ended up in hospital and was discharged to Harmonia in February 2024 - the team there quite simply saved dad and us, his family. Dad was able to move around the home and garden as he pleased but with sympathetic supervision so that he didn't feel restricted. They keep residents entertained with appropriate activities including gardening- we still have a plant that dad grew from seed. He loved the delicious home made food! Harmonia's team gave him the most wonderful, genuinely loving care right through until his final, peaceful days in Jan 2025. We cannot thank them enough for the love and care that they provided dad and support for us as a family through a really awful time.

It was an upsetting time when we knew it was time for mum to have 24/7 care in a care home. The staff at Cornford House have been so reassuring and kind, it has made it so much easier. I know mum is in safe hand's. Her medical and emotional needs are being met. She is so well looked after. She is enjoying
the activities and the round the clock care. We are kept up to date via the care records online so I feel connected to mum even though she can't communicate so well anymore.

Reply from Tanya Markides, New Resident Manager at Cornford House

Thank you so much for this lovely review. It is our pleasure caring for mum and also fantastic to know you are confident in the care and support she is receiving.

Hazeldene House

from Christine M (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Mum came to Hazeldene house for 6 weeks respite care after a bad fall where she suffered a broken shoulder. She needed 24 hour care, and we had to act quickly to find her somewhere, the resident manager was amazing at helping us get mum in quickly. Our hope was that she would eventually be able to return
to her own apartment. However, mum became settled so quickly at Hazeldene house it wouldn't have been any benefit moving her again. The staff seem genuinely fond of mum and her wellbeing.
My sister and I found it difficult leaving mum to begin with, but now we see her happy and content, she is treated so kindly and with dignity that we have no worries about the standard of care she receives.

Reply from Katie Wickison, New Resident Manager at Hazeldene House

Thank you for the kind review, we are so glad we could help when you needed it and that you feel comforted by the standard of care. It's lovely to see that your Mum is happy here with us, and that she has bonded with our team.

Mum went into Hazeldene House for 6 weeks respite care after having a fall at home and breaking her shoulder. Mum was unable to get the 24 hour care she needed where she lived and we were told that we would have to find somewhere for her within 24 hours. Hazeldene House came up trumps and mum moved
there the following day. The staff were amazing and they made mum and my sister and I very welcome. They have been very supportive in all of mum's care and mum now is getting over her broken shoulder. We have made the decision to keep mum there permanently now as we know she is safe and well cared for. Hazeldene House is like a family.

Reply from Katie Wickison, New Resident Manager at Hazeldene House

We appreciate your positive feedback, thank you. We are so pleased that we were able to act quickly, and be there to support your Mum just when you needed it. It's great to see that Mum is on the mend and that you've all become a part of the Hazeldene family.

My family and I would like to send our thanks to the whole team at Cornford House for the outstanding care you have given to our Mum over the past year and a half, in particular, when Mum's health and care needs are changing so rapidly on any given day. Your exceptional and dedicated team of carers,
in particular 4 members of staff who have been so good supporting and understanding mum needs. You have gone way beyond the call of duty to meet Mum's care needs, respecting the way she likes things done and supporting her to retain her independence in as many ways as she can, whilst skillfully navigating all the tasks needed in such a kind, caring and loving way. You have all been so responsive to requests for additional care. As a family we can wholeheartedly say that Cornford House has been an invaluable asset for Mum Your understanding, and dedication have made a real difference in Mums life, and I highly recommend to anyone seeking Care for their families at Cornford House.

Improvements have been made at Woodchurch over the last couple of months. I think the challenge now is to maintain current staffs and continue to train them in caring for the residents.
Small changes in the corridors with lovely pictures, a more welcoming communal area on the first floor, along with
changes to the dining set up have all made such a difference.

A few weeks ago, my husband moved into the Dementia unit at Woodchurch House. Initially he was very unsettled but with constant support, encouragement, and compassion from all members of staff he is now less anxious and seems happier. I have 24/7 access to his care records and if necessary, am contacted
or can discuss problems with staff members when I visit. The management, carers and support staff are very professional, treat everyone with dignity and respect and always have a smile! With large rooms, freshly cooked food, a variety of daily activities to stimulate and engage the residents it is a great environment. Placing a loved into permanent residential care is a very tough decision but I am so pleased he is now part of the Woodchurch House family. It is a caring, welcoming, and very friendly home. I thoroughly recommend it.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My father has been in Cornford House since Autumn last year. It was very hard for my mum as she had been caring for Dad for many years . We looked at quite a few nursing homes but the moment we entered Cornford House we knew this was where we wanted him to be.
The rooms are spacious and the main lounge
is large and light. The building is set in beautiful grounds with easy access to a garden area for residents.
The management staff are all visible and approachable and the care and nursing staff look after Dad very well. He cannot communicate his needs but he seems content and happy.
If there are any concerns or worries the staff respond in a positive way to my mum and I. Everyone is responsive to Dads and our needs.
The activity team provide entertainment and work hard to mark occasions. External people come in such as singers.
We really appreciate the efforts made to make the home relaxed and welcoming . Mum brings in their dog and we can visit at anytime.

My mother came to Cornford house for 2 weeks respite care following a small operation on her hand.
Unfortunately the surgery took place later in the day then expected, which made her admission to Cornford house later than expected. I kept the home updated during the day and when we eventually got Mum
there, they could not have been more welcoming.
She was very tired and a little emotional and they were so kind to her, offering her a warm drink and something to eat.
This level of care continued throughout her 2 week stay.
Everyone was friendly to us when we visited and nothing was too much trouble.
I would recommend Cornford house to anyone who needed care. Also, the food was excellent and nutritious.
