The day I walked into Larchfield Manor I wasn't sure if I wanted to live here, but after a couple of weeks I was very aware of how lovely it was, after growing up, I did not realise there was such loving and caring places like these. The staff in all departments where loving, helpful and would give
you the moon if they could. Office staff also took care of all life outside, money worries all, I love them all.

Nelson Manor is a very professional place. Residents are well looked after and the staff are respectful and courteous. Rooms are well equipped and are kept clean and tidy at all times. The food is nutritious and prompt. The staff work hard for their residents. I only have 1 negative comment to make,
some staff/bank staff have poor English, this at times makes communication difficult for residents seeking help.

The staff (all) from kitchen staff, cleaners, carers and office staff are all friendly, they work as team not individuals. I have nothing but praise for how the care home is looking after my mother, it puts my mind at ease knowing how well Mum is being cared for, especially having dementia. Would recommend
to anyone.

My mother has been in The Spinney for several years. I have always been completely satisfied with the care and attention she has been given. All of the staff are excellent and very caring, in dealing with my mothers needs both mentally and physically. And keep me informed when necessary.

Nelson Manor has been a great help. They looked after my mum for several years and were excellent with providing her care - particularly as she was a difficult patient. More recently, they have been excellent at looking after my dad who has been at Nelson Manor care home for over a year. The rooms are
spacious and clean with room for a wheel chair and space for guest chairs. The carers have always been great, they put on lots of fun activities and he's really enjoyed going out to the pub. The staff have also gone above and beyond and put on special dinners for him and his friends with white table cloths. The staff treat my dad with kindness and dignity. There are always multiple options of food throughout the day and a special meal can be requested if there isn't anything he would like. Having visited relatives in other care homes in the area I would rate Nelson Manor very highly and reccomended to anyone who needs help for their loved ones.

Great caring people, friendly welcoming environment. My mother has settled in well here and already sees it as her home. The home is well maintained, clean and warm, which is great for my mother. I feel comfortable that mother is being looked after and this puts my mind at ease during challenging times.
The staff are all friendly and professional.

Larchfield Manor

from Lorraine P (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 April 2025

After it became increasingly clear that mum wasn't managing at home due to her advancing dementia we wanted to find mum a home from home where mum would feel safe and comfortable. Two of mum's favourite hobbies are gardening and shopping and Larchfield Manor has provided a room for her overlooking the
garden where she can watch the birds and squirrels and large enough to have some items of furniture and her treasured nik naks around her. Mum has only been here a few weeks and already her loved ones have noticed her change of mood and how happy and settled she is now. Mums health is also improving due to the consistent meal times in the beautiful panelled dining room. There are activities going on everyday and mum is joining in them all, nurturing her social nature and making new friends. As a family, our priority is mums safety and happiness and Larchfield Manor provides both these through the dedication and caring staff and their excellent provision of care.

Larchfield Manor

from Andrew S (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 27 February 2025

My wife and I searched for some time for a decent care home for my father-in-law. We visited Larchfield Manor and spoke to the manager's deputy, who gave us a tour and showed us two rooms. The garden-facing room was perfect for my father-in-law as he loved the outdoors and the view of the birds and
squirrels. The deputy's open manner and willingness to answer all our questions was reassuring and we moved my father-in-law in. Unfortunately he had another heart attack after three days and had to be hospitalised until his death, but we felt we had placed him in a safe home, even for that time, compared to other care homes. I have no hesitation in recommending Larchfield Manor.

Homely place for residents and families. The staff work hard and are caring and committed. The residents look contented and the managers are approachable though often very busy. They listen.
As a family, we have been able to visit our loved one and it feels like 'home'. So we are happy and reassured.

The care given to my Mother-in-law is exceptional. When her social worker says its the best nursing home what better recommendation? My Mother-in-law is looked after as one of their own. My family are forever grateful for the care she is given.

My mum gets the best care. All the staff are fbulous. She is encouraged and supported to do the things she loves, especially singing Ave Maria and joining in with the activities. The activities coordinator is exceptional and has engaged all residents with a variety of different things to do; summer
fayres, bingo, cinema days, Irish dancing (in which I participate). She has good care and the staff communicate with me on all aspects of her care.

I am very pleased with the care provided to my mother at The Spinney. She is very settled and I am sure this is due to the care and diligent concern that is shown to her by the staff and management in the home. I am pleased that I am kept well informed of any issues she may have, and this is done without
delay. This is the third home my mother has been in due to closures, etc, and it is by far the best!

Mum moved into Larchfield on Friday. I was incredibly anxious about how she would feel about it, but my sister and I had looked at a few places beforehand and there was no doubt in our minds the moment we walked through the door at Larchfield that it was the place for Mum. Laughter all around, carers
ready to help with any questions or issues, and a place that felt and smelt more like a family country house than a care home. Mum has a bit of dementia, mobility issues, and deafness. But she has been made to feel so welcome by the lovely staff that it feels like a dream situation! The staff are just some of the wonderful staff who have made Mum feel at home. I had no idea that there were places like Larchfield! I can sleep at night for the first time in ages, knowing that Mum has people around her who care and who will come to love her. Thank you!

My Mum has been in The Spinney now for 5 years her care has been excellent most of the time, and we have seen many staff come and go. But they have all looked after Mum very well.
We have tried a few care homes but it was a weight off our shoulders when she came to The Spinney. Mum is at end-of-life
but she keeps on going, they treat her with respect and care.

When I moved into The Spinney Nursing Home I was very afraid of what was to come. How wrong I was. I have been cared for over the seven months I have been a resident. The nurse ensures my medication is delivered at the right time. The carers from the senior staff on the ward are truly caring. I would
recommend this home to anyone for care and understanding.

Our parents seem settled in The Spinney. We have no qualms with regard to day-to-day care and meals. However, sometimes there seems to be a lack of communication with regard to some aspects of health needs. For example, Dad has been having trouble with his ears over the last few months. We have made
enquiries with the staff regarding this, we believe someone has been out to see him but we only got to know through Dad. We also feel the matter of clothing needs addressing. We take clothes in for our parents to wear. But they end up wearing other residents' clothes even though they have been tagged.
