Croftbank House

from Jacqueline L (Sister of Resident) published on 7 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

My sister has just completed her six month review, having moved into Croftbank in July24. Like many I'm sure, we her family worried how she would adapt to her new life having lived alone in her own house for some years. No need to worry. She often volunteers that she is so happy in her new surroundings.
She loves her little room with so many of her own things around her. Her door is open much of the time so that everyone who passes by can say hello and they do. She made friends immediately and they visit each other, share a dining table and go to activities and outings together. and at the end of the day she can close the door and cosy down with her TV. She has wi-fi so her family can chat to her - different folks every day on video calls (a boon for those with dementia). She just loves all the foods so beautifully cooked - old favourites and try something new. Wishlist-Shower in her room. All the staff are first class, friendly, welcoming and supportive of us too. What a relief.

from Flora G (Granddaughter of Resident) published on 6 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

When we first visited my mum at Kingsmills we were met with lovely, friendly staff who could not do enough for us all, each time we visited we had the pleasure of meeting with various levels of nursing staff who were highly skilled and dedicated staff at all times their empathy was exceptional. We are
truly grateful for mums care until she sadly passed away and even then there were flowers placed in mums room and lovely words to remember mum on her final journey, Thank you all for the love you shared with my mum. Truly outstanding.

Reply from Liz MacRae, manager at Kingsmills Care Home

i just want to thank you for the lovely words within this review. The team are very appreciative of all your kindness. We are thankful that we got to spend time with your lovely Mum, and we all miss her. On behalf of all the team please pop in and visit if you are in the area, and please take care.

Whitecraigs Care Home

from Alison F (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 March 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Last July, my mum moved into Whitecraigs. It was one of the most difficult decisions I've ever had to make however, it turned out to be one of the best. From my first visit, Whitecraigs felt like a proper home for her and I couldn't be happier with the move. She receives care and attention from all
the staff and enjoys their patter too! The team who look after her have taken time to get to know her (and me!) and that shows in her care. I know I can talk to them about any concerns I have and am listened to. Mum has had a difficult couple of years but I know here she is safe, healthy and treated with respect and dignity.
I love the different events they arrange for the residents. Mum has enjoyed her day trips away and especially enjoyed a recent musical afternoon. The celebration meals are also excellent. There are regular relatives meetings when I can find out about future plans and ongoing developments/improvements but also contribute my own thoughts and ideas. Highly recommended!

We were so happy with the care mum received in Riverside care home. It was a weight off our minds that we did not have to worry about her eating or drinking. She went in having to use her Zimmer, and her mobility increased, she was able to walk unaided. The activities are appropriate, her favourite
being the singing and dancing which she joined in with great enthusiasm. All the staff were so caring. It was the right thing to do for mum and the 10 months she was there made all the difference.

Dad has been at The Cowdray Club since May 2024. The staff have been excellent and everyone is so friendly. I have had so much support from all the staff, nurses, carers, administrators and the managers. I visit regularly and if there are any issues they are addressed immediately. If there are medical
issues the nurses always contact me and keep me informed as to what is happening. I really appreciate everything The Cowdray Club does for Dad.

The Cowdray Club

from Maureen R (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Cowdray Club is truly a wonderful place - all the staff are amazing. They are a dedicated, caring, cohesive team.
My 97-year-old mum gets respite there and from the moment I walk in I know my mum is in safe, caring hands. The welcome is so warm it's like taking her to stay with a family.
I really
stress about putting my mum into respite but my anxieties are dispelled as soon as I see the love that is given to her from the moment we walk in and from my daily follow-up calls which further provide me with reassurance.
The environment itself is very clean, warm, and homely. The individual rooms are a good size, with their own on-suite, and appropriately furnished with colourful bedding, pictures on the walls, and a comfy chair!
But most of all - it's the staff that makes this place special.
I cannot thank them enough for taking care of my mum - I have peace of mind when I get my much-needed respite time.
Thanks to all.

The Cowdray Club

from Scott B (Son of Resident) published on 5 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Both my parents had been experiencing difficulties at home despite daily carer visits. After a very difficult last 6 weeks, I had to look into full-time care.
After a search, The Cowdray Club came up. I have never looked back. The manager and her team have been fantastic. From first contact, the process
has been made easy with understanding and care. It was a very difficult and upsetting decision to move Mum and Dad out of their home of 60 years. I was racked with guilt thinking of moving my previously very independent parents into "an old folks home". It was all-consuming and spending 24/7 with them was becoming impossible to keep going myself.
Since moving, into a fantastic double room, they have settled in so well and it has been a great comfort to know they are being cared for so well. I now sleep at night! They are safe and being looked after by a dedicated and wonderful team. Nothing is too much bother. 10/10. Amazing people. Thank you all so very much. Keep up the brilliant work.

Wyndwell Nursing Home

from Valerie P (Sister of Resident) published on 29 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

My sister has a learning disability and is a lot younger than most of the other residents. Due to her learning disability she requires one-to-one support which the home is unable to provide on a daily basis. She also has epilepsy which requires structured times when medication is given and advice
from Neurologists to be followed and not overruled by management and local health practice doctors. The care staff are excellent and work so hard in a setting that is understaffed. They are so kind and really ensure that all residents are well cared for and treated with respect. Wyndwell has improved on staff numbers in the last few months and communicate more regularly on health matters which is a great improvement.

When I found out in October last year that my gran had moved into Malin Court, I was very very scared, because of negative things I've heard in the media about care homes. However, when I saw Gran with my own eyes those thoughts disappeared! She's always happy in the home, and she's extremely happy
whenever I visit, as I'm unable to due to being disabled myself and having to rely on drivers and carers due to having tonic-clonic epilepsy.
Happy Gran, happy Grandson!

Everything seems to be going very well apart from laundry service which seems a bit of a lottery if you get your own clothes back. I have also noticed my mum often has no socks and dressing gown is missing a lot of the time. Apart from this my mum seems happy during the day and is well fed and safe
all staff are pleasant and helpful any time we ask for their help the home is always clean and always staffed. Entertainment is always enjoyed by my mum and the social media page is a good insight for us to see what she is doing with her day and we can remind her what she has done that day.

Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Overall I am happy with the care my family member receives at Jesmond care home. My relative has been a resident there for a number of years and is content, settled and well cared for. Staff are mostly attentive, friendly and caring towards my family member.
Occasionally there have been issues relating
to care, which management have addressed promptly.
There are areas that could be improved, mainly the food, which is currently being reviewed by the Group Operations Manager.

I'm very happy with the care my mum gets at Perslay Castle. Very clean and the staff do a great job. They are all very friendly and always on the go. Every time I'm in, I'm offered tea or coffee, my mum likes her cigarette and she gets out for one so it makes her happy.

Staff very kind always pleasant to mum and myself when I visit. Only thing I can say as a negative and it's a small gripe, they lose mums glasses and don't tell me when lost so I can get a replacement pair as she wears them all day.
