My mother stayed for a week's respite care. She was quite worried and reluctant to stay away from her home of over 60 years. She was treated extremely well by caring and attentive staff. After being so reluctant to stay anywhere, one of the first things she said after getting home was that she'd
happily stay there again.

I don't normally write reviews but I felt it was important in this case, as I relied on positive reviews before deciding it was the correct place for my Mother. She has only been in for a couple of weeks but I have to say how impressed I have been with all aspects. There are so many positives, including
the fact that all the staff, from the home manager to the cleaning team, are all very friendly and smiley. Of course their work is challenging but they do it with care and good humour. My mum's room is excellent. Very clean, but most of all safe. I am also impressed with the variety and quality of food. I was visiting one time when they were serving lunch and I was invited to join them! Very good it was too! So all in all very impressed and say well done to the caring staff.

Springkell House Care Home

from Nicky J (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 February 2025

My neighbour has been a resident for 2 years. My dad was in for a month of respite recently. Unlike many other care homes, where the residents and their call buttons are mostly ignored, whilst staff chat amongst themselves or play on their phones, I've never seen the staff at Springkell House Care Home
behave like this. The team are really friendly, patient, supportive, helpful, smiley and engaged with all the residents and check on them regularly (unlike many other care homes).
My neighbour is bed-bound and the staff are regularly popping in to check on her, chat to her, ask her if she's okay or bring her a cup of tea etc.
My dad was apprehensive about going into a home for respite, but he settled really quickly and was really impressed with Springkell. The staff were wonderful and Dad really liked all of the staff and they genuinely seemed to like him too. The food is good, the home is clean and well looked after, as are the residents.
I'm kept up to date by the home and would definitely recommend.

Dad moved to Springkell House Care Home in December. We had a lovely welcome from the staff, who all came in individually and introduced themselves. Tea and coffee was brought to the room, together with biscuits. Dad has had a few medical issues which were dealt with promptly by the staff and I was
kept informed throughout, with regular updates, excellent care from the nurses. Dad spends time with the other residents in the various lounges. He particularly enjoys listening and singing along to visiting musicians. Each time I visit the staff are so friendly and welcoming and I'm getting to know the other residents too. Dad, in particular, likes 3 pm when it's coffee and cake time. Dad enjoys the food and myself and mum joined him for Christmas dinner, which was lovely. The staff went above and beyond to make it a happy day for all. There are always plenty of friendly staff on shift, even at weekends, which is reassuring. I can't recommend Springkell House enough, it's everything a good care home should be.

My father has one-to-one care at Ashton Manor Nursing Home. Whenever we visit with my mum, he is really well cared for, clean, the room is always clean and staff happy. There is always a sense of calm in the building and a big effort by staff to celebrate holidays, Halloween etc., with decorations and
events. All staff are lovely and friendly, make us feel welcome. I know my father couldn't be in a better place and we feel lucky he is here.

When my husband first came to Ashton Manor Nursing Home, he was very unsettled and sometimes violent towards the staff. They were very patient and treated him with much care and compassion. He has dementia. He took a long time to settle. The staff worked hard to make him accept and be happy. Notifying
me of any problems, mainly by phone - not in his hearing. We, the family, are extremely pleased with all the staff in this home. They always make us welcome when we visit and inform us of any problems as they arise. We are very happy he is in such good hands. He is very lucky but does no realise - but we do! We wish all elderly could have this amount of care and lovely, tasty meals.

Mum has been living here for a year now, and their kindness and attention to her has been wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble and they all put 100% effort in every day. They are always open to suggestions, which are noted and they genuinely want to know what else they can do to make the resident's
lives as happy as possible. Nursing care is top-notch. They have recently had a change in activity staff but I am confident the amount of mental and physical activities will be full on again now they have the new people established. It is a homely atmosphere where everyone works hard at making the everyday, special. Mum likes her room, she says it's small enough to be warm and is always neat and tidy.

My mum has only been at Windsor Court for a week now. Staff have made her feel so welcome into the home and supported her so much with her transition into the new chapter in her life. Mum's bedroom is a beautiful room, lovely and bright and the ensuite is so well equipped. The second floor that Mum
is on has been completely refurbished and is beautiful, bright and homely. We looked at many homes for Mum, and Windsor Court came out on top for us. Mum is enjoying the food and the chef is always willing to help. Mum is starting to join in with some of the activities but early days yet. From what I have seen this home is a very well-run home and most of all Mum is happy.

What is immediately obvious and of paramount importance was that every member of staff we met was courteous, helpful and smiled. The manager was attentive to any concerns and explained thoroughly company policy and standards. Everyone seemed approachable. The care home itself was spotlessly clean and
the decor and furniture was of a very good standard. The care home cared for residents with dementia as well as ordinary residents. Particularly pleasing was easy access to well-tended gardens with tarmac walkways.

My father received excellent care at Robertson's. The carers and nurses were very kind to him and made his final year as good as it could be. I always knew he was safe and well looked after.
The food was good and the chef visited my father every day to see what he would like for lunch and dinner.
The manager is extremely good and spends a lot of time talking and listening to what the residents need.

My father has been a resident for over two years. He has always been treated well. The staff go over and above to get to know my father's likes and dislikes. He's a man who likes his own company and amazingly the home have been able to get him to take part in quizzes and other activities. He has also
changed his eating habits for the better. Well done Windsor Court, and thank you.

My mother had a fall and it became apparent that she needed to be in a care home, a difficult decision to make but my mother has settled in really well. I am kept informed about everything, nothing is too much trouble and all the staff at the home are very friendly and caring not just to my mother but
the family as well, the food is lovely too according to my mother!

My mum moved into the care home in May 24. She was very weak and frail and not interested in eating or drinking. Within two weeks of being at Robertsons, the staff had her up in a chair and sitting in the conservatory. Since then she has become stronger and now enjoying do all the activities they offer.
She has joined the cooking club and gardening club. The staff are so kind and tentative and genuinely love their job and the care they give is outstanding. Mum is enjoying the food and looks forward to her meals where all the residents come together to eat. During the sunny warm days, I find mum sitting out in the garden under a huge tree offering shade and sometimes having an ice cream whilst listening to music from a local choir or musician. Moving my mum into a home was not what we wanted to do but I can honestly say that it has been the best decision as she seems so happy there and we all love going there and spending time with her in such a friendly environment.

Springkell House Care Home

from Sally R (Daughter of Resident) published on 6 August 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Sprinkell House is a wonderfully warm and welcoming place, the staff are numerous, smiley and kind. The food is excellent and the home 'goes the extra mile' without any prompting, from the cheery tablecloths and flowers in the dining room to the clean and spacious individual rooms nothing is too much
trouble.
Minor niggles (and there are always some everywhere) are dealt with speedily, courteously and efficiently. A+ for that. Communication is excellent, and all physical and mental needs of the residents are well catered for.
As deciding whether to move a loved one into a care home is such an emotional issue, Mum originally went to Sprinkell House for 2 weeks to 'try it first' but after 1 week she wanted to stay as she had made so many friends. She still says of the home as 'it's a lovely place to live, I'm really happy here', (after 2 1/2 years a resident).
Very, very happy with the way Mum is cared for.

My dad (now 99 years old) has been a resident for just over a year.
The staff are professional, patient, caring and friendly. They are well trained and they treat every resident with kindness and respect. They allow them time to make decisions and assist them as necessary, retaining independence if
possible.
The home is always very clean and fresh, decor is bright and cheerful.
Food - a high standard/ good variety- they cater well for individual needs/likes /dislikes. Always make an extra special effort for birthdays and events.
Residents are encouraged to take part in various activities/ events which many enjoy.
There are scheduled visits from Dr, physio, chiropodist, optician and a hairdresser.
My dad is happy here. Grateful for the care and think the staff are kind and do a good job.
The home is well-managed and they are open to discussions and suggestions.
Visiting is possible anytime. We have always received a very warm welcome.
Very happy with the choice of home.
