"My approach when creating English Oak Care Homes was clear: Providing places I'd be happy for my own Mum to live in, places where people receive the respect and have the quality of life they deserve." It is fabulous to be part of a group, or family, but sometimes it's nice to be recognised as an individual that has very specific needs or interests, and carers at English Oak pride themselves on recognising these points very early on so that they can deliver the very best individual care which may be quite uncommon and unique but important nevertheless.

My experience so far has been fantastic, right from the reception, the home presents a warm and welcoming environment. The staff are kind and caring to residents and it's not surprising that the residents and their family members feel at home.
Residents are engaged in fun-filled meaningful activities
and of course, the nutritional needs of residents are catered for by the great cooks. Residents also enjoy their individualised personal space. A great home indeed.

Residents are well cared for. Staff are always welcoming, and refreshments offered on every visit. Staff interaction with residents is friendly. Mum always enjoys her meals.
The upstairs lounge is bright and comfortable and there are always staff present. The lounge has an outlook over the recreation
ground so plenty of activities to be seen.

My Husband was placed here as an emergency respite care but from the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with care and helpfulness and a genuine interest in the needs of my Husband. We have very good communication with the Management team and all the staff we meet are friendly and helpful.
He has settled
in very well and enjoys the food and environment and when we visit he appears happy and content. We would recommend this Care Home.

I visit 2 or 3 times a week and always receive a warm welcome and refreshments. My sister is well cared for. The staff get on well together and are very caring towards all the residents. There is always someone to talk to about my sister if I have any worries and I am kept well informed about her.

Dad's room is kept clean and tidy, and all the staff I have met have been kind and courteous at all times. Any questions I have had have been dealt with promptly. The kitchen does remarkably with the variety of food, and the attention they pay to each clients individual diet. I am very happy that dad
is at Hunters Lodge because of the quality of care he receives.

I cannot thank all the staff, for all the care they do for my mum, she is treated the respect and care. I would always say that she is so very well looked after and she loves it here also. There is nothing they won't do to support my mum and even myself so only can thank them for this.

My grandfather is really well looked after and cared for here and wouldn't want him anywhere else.
Since residing at the care home, he's much more settled and doesn't want to leave which is lovely to see.
The carers are always making sure residents are happy, fed and well presented.
Rooms are well
maintained and cleaned to a high standard.
The food selection on offer is outstanding and the care is amazing. They, not only, give amazing care and attention to the residents but also care and look out for the wider family too. Nothing is too much for anyone and I am always welcomed with a smile.
Makes visiting an enjoyable experience and means you are getting quality time with your loved one.

My mother, who is 86 and has dementia, went into Shedfield Lodge for respite care. The thoughtful and professional care that she received was truly amazing and well beyond any reasonable expectations. From the management who is responsible for creating the overall atmosphere to every member of staff
responsible for implementing the aims of the care home, everybody was always kind and considerate, helpful and caring.
I could not ask for a better experience for my mother.

My mother came to Shedfield Lodge for a respite period. The care she received was second to none. The staff were amazing in coping with her complex needs and made her feel welcome and at home. She very much enjoyed her stay in particular mixing with other residents and taking part in the various activities.
I
highly recommend the Lodge and all their services.

Oak View Residential Care Home

from Chris I (Son of Resident) published on 11 February 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My mother has been a resident at Oak Lodge for around 18 months now, after a year at a large corporate home who decided they couldn't cope with her needs. We liked that home but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as that home ended up being investigated and now having her at Oak Lodge, we realise
how comparatively poor it was.
Oak Lodge has been brilliant for Mum. The staff are amazing and her face lights up when she sees some of them (she has severe Alzheimer's). She is clearly far happier here than at her previous home and it's obvious she's more safe and secure, not least because of the high staffing levels.
As others have said, it's very like a nice hotel, with spacious rooms and everything is very clean. I genuinely can't praise the staff enough, and it's clear they seem to be happy working there, again something not always apparent at the previous home.
I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone in the unenviable position of needing to place a relative in care.

Willow Lodge

from Christine I (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 January 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

I looked at many local care homes for my mum that catered for Alzheimer's patients but just didn't feel like I'd found the right one. Then I found Willow Lodge, I was actually brought to tears by the ethos of respect and caring that I witnessed from all of the staff and how lovely the whole place was.
It wasn't easy for Mum or myself to make the huge transition into a care home and the first few weeks were tricky, however, with their undoubted knowledge and skill of caring for dementia patients and incredible kindness Mum has settled well and is very happy there. The food is cooked onsite and Mum says it is delicious. Her room is beautifully decorated and cleaned on a regular basis, with a stunning en-suite with a walk-in shower. The staff are all so friendly and helpful and give much-needed support and comfort to relatives as well as residents- it's a difficult time for us too! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Willow Lodge and am so grateful to have found them.

Where do they find so many amazing staff, everyone at Willow Lodge creates this wonderful warm, friendly, very caring atmosphere. I look at it through nursing eyes and know how challenging working there must be but every single person is striving to deliver excellent care. Mum telling me she feels safe
and really well cared for is so important as it is so difficult to know your loved one has had to leave their home. Thank you every single person who looks after my mum.

My wife has been at Willow Lodge since May 2023 and I come and see her everyday. The staff and management are all very helpful and caring and look after my wife very well, they also give me lots of TLC too. I find it a very pleasant place to be, although my wife is bedridden the staff treat her with
kindness and compassion along with making sure I'm ok too. I would recommend Willow Lodge to anyone looking for future care for their loved ones.

MY 94-year-old Sister entered Shedfield Lodge in January 2024. She was suffering from dementia, was post-operative, and had recently recovered from pneumonia. She now has some mobility issues. She is well cared for and likes the staff. She has improved both mentally and physically. The style of management
creates a warm and friendly atmosphere and GP support is first-class.
I feel welcome when I visit and am kept informed of my sisters well being.

This home is excellent the staff are caring thoughtful and well trained. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Although the sitting room looks crowded the use of the garden areas mitigates this. The staff are excellent at communicating with us and respond instantly to any requests. Rooms are spotless
and they take great care of the resident's clothes and possessions. They were very kind and supportive of the resident's husband when he visited and if this was at a meal time always gave him lunch.

Absolutely outstanding care home. Staff are very attentive, friendly and well organised. Plenty of staff to go around for the residents, very well organised. Upon arrival, you are offered a hot or cold beverage which is a very nice touch indeed. This doesn't feel like a care home setting and when I
say that it does not smell like a normal care home (urine/faeces) it has a very pleasant smell. The style and decor are like walking into a luxurious hotel. Management is absolutely outstanding. I can't thank everyone enough for what they have done for my father-in-law. Residents get fed 4 times a day and are also well watered. All staff have been retained so no high turnover of staff, the company are definitely doing something right. All levels of staff are amazing from the cleaners, caretakers, receptionists, carers and management. You will be peaceful to know they are well looked after. Well done to all the staff for making this place happen and work as it does.
