My Husband was placed here as an emergency respite care but from the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with care and helpfulness and a genuine interest in the needs of my Husband. We have very good communication with the Management team and all the staff we meet are friendly and helpful.
He has settled
in very well and enjoys the food and environment and when we visit he appears happy and content. We would recommend this Care Home.

I visit 2 or 3 times a week and always receive a warm welcome and refreshments. My sister is well cared for. The staff get on well together and are very caring towards all the residents. There is always someone to talk to about my sister if I have any worries and I am kept well informed about her.

Dad's room is kept clean and tidy, and all the staff I have met have been kind and courteous at all times. Any questions I have had have been dealt with promptly. The kitchen does remarkably with the variety of food, and the attention they pay to each clients individual diet. I am very happy that dad
is at Hunters Lodge because of the quality of care he receives.

I cannot thank all the staff, for all the care they do for my mum, she is treated the respect and care. I would always say that she is so very well looked after and she loves it here also. There is nothing they won't do to support my mum and even myself so only can thank them for this.

My grandfather is really well looked after and cared for here and wouldn't want him anywhere else.
Since residing at the care home, he's much more settled and doesn't want to leave which is lovely to see.
The carers are always making sure residents are happy, fed and well presented.
Rooms are well
maintained and cleaned to a high standard.
The food selection on offer is outstanding and the care is amazing. They, not only, give amazing care and attention to the residents but also care and look out for the wider family too. Nothing is too much for anyone and I am always welcomed with a smile.
Makes visiting an enjoyable experience and means you are getting quality time with your loved one.

My mother, who is 86 and has dementia, went into Shedfield Lodge for respite care. The thoughtful and professional care that she received was truly amazing and well beyond any reasonable expectations. From the management who is responsible for creating the overall atmosphere to every member of staff
responsible for implementing the aims of the care home, everybody was always kind and considerate, helpful and caring.
I could not ask for a better experience for my mother.

My mother came to Shedfield Lodge for a respite period. The care she received was second to none. The staff were amazing in coping with her complex needs and made her feel welcome and at home. She very much enjoyed her stay in particular mixing with other residents and taking part in the various activities.
I
highly recommend the Lodge and all their services.

Oak View Residential Care Home

from Chris I (Son of Resident) published on 11 February 2025

My mother has been a resident at Oak Lodge for around 18 months now, after a year at a large corporate home who decided they couldn't cope with her needs. We liked that home but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as that home ended up being investigated and now having her at Oak Lodge, we realise
how comparatively poor it was.
Oak Lodge has been brilliant for Mum. The staff are amazing and her face lights up when she sees some of them (she has severe Alzheimer's). She is clearly far happier here than at her previous home and it's obvious she's more safe and secure, not least because of the high staffing levels.
As others have said, it's very like a nice hotel, with spacious rooms and everything is very clean. I genuinely can't praise the staff enough, and it's clear they seem to be happy working there, again something not always apparent at the previous home.
I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone in the unenviable position of needing to place a relative in care.

MY 94-year-old Sister entered Shedfield Lodge in January 2024. She was suffering from dementia, was post-operative, and had recently recovered from pneumonia. She now has some mobility issues. She is well cared for and likes the staff. She has improved both mentally and physically. The style of management
creates a warm and friendly atmosphere and GP support is first-class.
I feel welcome when I visit and am kept informed of my sisters well being.

The nursing home is very clean. My wife is very happy there. The staff are very good. The trouble is when I take a cream slice she eats the lot, never saves me one so I get a doughnut.

This home is excellent the staff are caring thoughtful and well trained. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Although the sitting room looks crowded the use of the garden areas mitigates this. The staff are excellent at communicating with us and respond instantly to any requests. Rooms are spotless
and they take great care of the resident's clothes and possessions. They were very kind and supportive of the resident's husband when he visited and if this was at a meal time always gave him lunch.

Absolutely outstanding care home. Staff are very attentive, friendly and well organised. Plenty of staff to go around for the residents, very well organised. Upon arrival, you are offered a hot or cold beverage which is a very nice touch indeed. This doesn't feel like a care home setting and when I
say that it does not smell like a normal care home (urine/faeces) it has a very pleasant smell. The style and decor are like walking into a luxurious hotel. Management is absolutely outstanding. I can't thank everyone enough for what they have done for my father-in-law. Residents get fed 4 times a day and are also well watered. All staff have been retained so no high turnover of staff, the company are definitely doing something right. All levels of staff are amazing from the cleaners, caretakers, receptionists, carers and management. You will be peaceful to know they are well looked after. Well done to all the staff for making this place happen and work as it does.

Our mum has been a resident at Hunters Lodge for several months and we've been really pleased with the experience. The rooms are recently furbished, it's very clean, the standard of care and attention to detail is high and the food excellent and varied. The staff are kind and helpful. Highly recommend.

On the 25th of March 2024, my wife became a resident at Hunters Lodge. During the past 3 months, I have visited her most days and I cannot fault the care and attention that she receives. The staff are all very friendly, caring, and welcoming, the food is great, (and plenty of it) and the overall ambience
is bright, airy, and refreshing. I would have no hesitation in recommending Hunters to anyone needing similar care.

Hunters Lodge

from James B (Son of Resident) published on 16 July 2024

I have visited many care homes in a professional capacity over the years, some were good and some were dire to say the least. Hunters Lodge is in a class of its own, as it is extremely good. When my mother first arrived at the home she was reluctant to stay and let me know of her displeasure and of
course I was reluctant to leave her there. However over time she has become a different person, and appears to thrive well amongst people of her own age. The food at the home is very good (non-residents can have a meal with their loved ones) and I would recommend anyone who has the chance to do so, it gives residents a sense of normalcy.
I have observed the staff and how they interact with residents and I am comfortable leaving my mum in their charge. I have also observed how certain health and safety issues (including fire safety) and these are dealt with well within compliance. I thank management and staff for a job well done.
