My brother went to the care home for respite after breaking his hip. I have to say all the staff are wonderful and caring, and made my brother's stay a very pleasant one. All our questions were answered and they understood my brother's needs.
Heartfelt thanks to all the staff and also special thanks
for the care and attention in his hour of need.

The care home was clean and tidy the staff were brilliant and very caring. Overall the care was more than 75% but less than 100%. My wife's well being was uppermost in the staff and management in their minds and I would definitely recommend the home for respite or permanent residency. Well done Foylebank,
you did yourselves proud.

My mother is a new resident at Foylebank Care Home. This is the first home mum has gone into. My first contact regarding my worries about mum was with the Deputy Manager. Instantly I became less worried about mum after talking with the Deputy Manager. She put my mind at rest on so many issues and questions
I had. I found her to be very competent with her knowledge and skills showing a great deal of experience she has. The Deputy Manager always had time for my questions and was extremely efficient with feedback. Having this kind of approachable personality wanting to put my and my family's mind at rest. Also, the carers are well-mannered and respectable with the residents. Thank you Foyle Bank.

The utmost care was given to my mum-in-law in the short time she was in the Nightingale. She was happy and content in the knowledge she was being so very well looked after. As a family, we were kept informed every step of the way, i.e. if she was unwell or the staff had any concerns. The atmosphere
in the home is very happy, and the staff are all approachable.
They are all our guardian angels.
Thank you for everything.

I first went to view the Nightingale in June and was immediately impressed with the condition of the building and how friendly the staff were. My mum only lived there for six months due to her passing. The staff were helpful and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The staff always kept us informed
if there were any issues. My mum made some close friends and absolutely loved her time there. I wouldn't have chosen anywhere else for her to stay.

I visited my aunt for the second time in this home. The atmosphere in the home is extremely friendly, and you feel welcomed as a visitor. My aunt seems really settled and well cared for. All her needs seem to be met. The appearance of the home is really impressive - all areas are clean and fresh. There
are always a number of staff, all of whom are very friendly, to help with residents' needs.

The staff at this nursing home are lovely, but they are so short on staff. When we visit my mum you can't get in. You end up ringing up on your phone and sometimes no one answers. I don't know why the buzzer is on the door because no one answers. It's not because they are rude, but haven't got time
because no staff. Would I recommend this home? No, unless more staff comes and it's dangerous to the residents I believe.

Reply from Corinne Pryer, Operations Manager at Nightingale Care and Nursing Home

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We have looked into your concern about staffing levels and can confirm these are reviewed on a minimum of a weekly basis and we have not had any staff shortages.

I do understand your concern about the doorbell, and we have put a temporary doorbell in place while waiting for the current doorbell to be reconnected to our call bell system. I apologise for the inconvenience this has caused on your visits. I’m really pleased to hear you feel the staff are lovely. If you would like to discuss your concerns any further, we would be more than happy to arrange this.

My mum was admitted for respite care initially for four weeks but is now living there permanently. They made all the family welcome and have taken excellent care of mum. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff care so much for the residents. It is lovely to see how they interact, respect and treat
them as they would there own family. It is run so well and they ensure that everyone is given has the chance to take part in activities and are included in whatever is happening. They have given support and reassurance to our family at a time of great difficulty and we could not be more grateful.

Regency Care Home

from Kev P (Son of Resident) published on 20 July 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Mum's care was outstanding and caring - which was all I wanted, the food and cleanliness was excellent - it's not a 5-star hotel which some places make out to be - however, it was more than adequate. A few months into Mum's care- an entertainment person started and this in my opinion made an enormous
contribution to the residents well being and mood, this made trips available and also one-to-one trips if appropriate for the resident, as well as singers on site and games etc. I hope this still happens. Mum had dementia, all the staff stood in line for Mum's funeral car and four members attended the funeral itself.

If I could give this home a zero rating I would!
This home is badly run. Staff are not adequately trained. Staffing is insufficient and they are not competent in the roles they are in. Record keeping is atrocious. They did not update my aunt's next of kin records for over 5 months; leaving her deceased
son and social worker as next of kin! I was told by an admin person that my aunt was not a falls risk despite being put in this home by social services after breaking 3 ribs in a fall and with a history of previous falls. They don't have a clue what they are talking about! Basic needs such as having finger and toe nails cut and hairdressing done, are ignored despite frequent requests for repeat, regular appointments and funding made available.
Items of clothing are lost. My aunt often has mismatched clothes on which don't belong to her. I know as I buy her clothing! Complete underwear is not put on. How is this right?
I've complained about the place being cold, of the filthy cook's uniform and of that member of staff wearing their kitchen uniform to do other jobs!
My aunt has been in hospital every weekend for the last three or four weeks with three falls in three days, on some occasions. There are pieces of broken glass in her wardrobe from broken picture frames, in a zipped cushion cover!
On 19.04.23 my aunt was sat on her bed naked from the waist down, staff were oblivious to this.
Previously, we found my aunt with an infected, inflamed and swollen, red, leg. I had to instruct the staff to call 111. They had washed her and dressed her but noticed nothing! This was diagnosed as cellulitis which I had also indicated but the staff did not have a clue!
Today they sent my aunt to the hospital. The doctor said there is nothing wrong with her. Foylebank has refused to have her back! They have made a 96 year old lady; blind in one eye and very hard of hearing and who recently lost her only child homeless!

from Laraine H (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 November 2022

I took Mum out to see a friend today for a cuppa. Whilst out, she suddenly started leaning to the left in her wheelchair. I managed, with difficulty, to get her into the car and drove her back to the home. On arrival, I couldn't get her out of the car because she was leaning against the door. I managed
to attract the attention of one of the carers and he was an absolute star. He helped me get her out of the car, took her into the home, settled her and took her obs. He just took control of the entire situation. The paramedics were called, and he stayed with her until they arrived and looked after her. It was thought that she had had a TIA, however, she refused to go to hospital and the ambulance crew explained to the carer exactly what to do and when. I certainly would have struggled today if he had not been there.
