Overall Admiralty Care home have been good, the daytime staff are very good and have a good rapport with my relative. My relative feeds back that the food is very good and the staff very kind.
On the down side it seems to me that the night staff are not so attentive as when my relative phoned me to
tell me she was not well, we found that they were slow to respond and did so after I phoned twice to get them to action, eventually I had to take matters into my own hands and call an ambulance.
Also I have concerns regarding my relatives personal hygiene and concerns regarding the fact that she has had scabies for several months and that only recently has PPE been put into place.

The staff are excellent , friendly and welcoming .
My mother in law receives good care however I think it is a shame she doesn't appear to be wheeled into the communal areas anymore and is always in her room .
I understand that this may be as a result of her not understanding and a reluctance to
be moved but we feel it would enhance her day if she could "
Join in" with some of the activities
I never see her in the photos on the social media site. It is always the same residents

I am the daughter of a resident at Admiralty care home. Overall happy with the care provided. Located near our family and provides care for the elderly with dementia.
The home has undertaken a lot of positive changes in the past year.
On the whole the staff are friendly, more care staff needed
as understaffed and overworked. Doesn't seem to be good staff to resident ratio.
Home is kept adequately clean, there is room for improvement.
Activities are well organised, residents seem to enjoy taking part.
Rooms vary, mum's is a good size with views over the lovely garden where in the warmer moths is a good place to sit, more fresh air always good, as would outings.
Food always looks good and tasty with a varied choice, the dining area is roomy and bright.
Communication with the management team is good and queries addressed.
Would recommend the home and grateful for the care provided

I am very grateful for the genuine care shown to both my mum and me by all the staff. Mum has always been treated with dignity and respect and they have always understood her complex dementia needs. The surroundings of the home are lovely and facilities, especially since refurbishment, are smart and
clean.

Generally a good environment but often seems to be a lack of staff particularly noticeable at weekends. Still having issues communicating effectively with relatives although efforts are being made to improve this.

Review of

Victory Care Home

from E H (Sister of Resident) published on 1 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

My brother lived at Victory House for two years. The staff were generally kind-hearted but mostly clueless about dementia and slapdash with tasks. Some had strong foreign accents. His nails were often long and dirty and his hair unwashed: I often had to complete his personal care and finish dressing
him. I had to tidy his room strewn with unused bed linen and request towels to shave him. Some staff would change his radio station to their own choice. All his possessions were marked but I still had to sort and remove items that did not belong to him and search for those missing, including a good quality duvet (its replacement was paid for by Victory). The food was high in carbohydrates and often nutritionally poor (jelly, etc.). There did not appear to be any senior staff member ensuring that care standards were met, or any management quality control. There were no dishwashers in the kitchenettes, which may have contributed to two outbreaks of norovirus during his residency.

Reply from Theresa Ward, Manager at Victory Care Home

Victory takes great care to ensure that all complaints are managed. Which is why we opened up an investigation in October. I shared my findings and your family thanked Victory for the care and trouble that we had taken. Our email trail shows that we addressed all new concerns too. When your brother required additional support, we contacted the relevant health professionals i.e., dietitian and SALT team. Who put your brother on a high calorie and liquid diet. Traditionally, care home staff have lacked diversity! Today's workforce must be more reflective of our culture, which we can draw on for a wider perspective. All our staff members are employed through the most current social care recruitment procedures. I am concerned that you mentioned that we had norovirus, as this is not factual! Your brother never had norovirus. We are sorry that you feel the experience at Victory did not meet your expectations, and we hope that your brother is settling well into his more appropriate placement.

Dad needed urgent admission following a fall at home. The manager saw us within half an hour and Dad was admitted the next day. An impressive start!
Dad established an immediate rapport with the manager and staff, and the safe, welcoming atmosphere has resulted in remarkable improvements in his appearance,
appetite, sense of humour, and motivation.
Many thanks to everyone for their support and genuine caring engagement with Dad, and for welcoming us when we visit. They have given the whole family great peace of mind.

(Well done to all the staff for their compassion.)
My Mum has been in care since Jan 24. She can be challenging at times and was unhappy when first went in. She is very happy now.
She had a fall in Dec 24 and broke her elbow, they called an ambulance, which they were advised could be up to 6 hours,
they called me but I was unable to come straight away as I was about 2 hours away, the staff kept her safe and comfortable until I was able to take her to A&E.

As soon as l walked into this home l was given 1st class treatment by the lovely Manager. She went over and above to place my ex Husband who l had been caring for for the last 4 years. He was given a room and could move in the following day. I cannot praise all the staff enough. Every single one together
with the Manager.
Were absolutely brilliant. I was totally exhausted and they took over and got everything moving so quickly, that I would go as far as to say the Manager was my lifesaver. It is an excellent home and all the residents are extremely happy and so well cared for. The home is the best home I have visited and feel extremely lucky to have placed my ex-husband there.

Mum was a resident of Rochester Care Home for nearly 6 years. I cannot thank the manager and her wonderful team enough for all they did for her while she was there. She could not have been in a better place for the last years of her life.
As a family, we have got to know the staff as dear friends
who have always greeted us with a cheery smile and 'gone that extra mile' for all involved.
Mum spent the last two weeks of her life receiving palliative care. She was treated with dignity and compassion. My family have felt very supported by the manager and her staff during this difficult time for which we are truly thankful.
We cannot praise Rochester Care Home enough for the work they do.

My grandad has been a resident at Victory for three weeks and the positive change in his mental health and wellbeing has been exponential. He feels safe and cared for and I am secure in the fact he is receiving quality care. The staff have been supportive and what could have been a stressful transition
has in fact been surprisingly easy. I am grateful to all staff and residents who have made this more a pleasure for my grandad.
