My husband and I visited my aunt on 17th March and whilst sitting chatting to her in the dining room, she started gasping for breath. I alerted Beaufort staff, who were absolutely amazing, managing to bring my aunt round. An ambulance was called immediately and while we were waiting the Beaufort staff
were so caring towards my aunt, whom they put into the recovery position on advice. The paramedics were excellent and my aunt was now asleep in a wheelchair. The Beaufort staff were so attentive throughout and were advised that a GP would visit. My aunt was then moved to another lounge and made very comfortable, whilst being monitored. We visited the next morning to find my aunt much recovered and I cannot thank the Beaufort staff enough for all their care and compassion, not only throughout this emergency but everyday.

My mother was placed into Critchell Court Care Home on 26th November. Within a few days, she experienced missed medications (serious omissions of heart medication), lack of socialisation, safety issues with dementia patients entering her room at 3am and frightening her, with a male resident sitting
in her chair and female resident sitting on her bed. The care home ran out of critical medicines at least twice in a four week period. The care home corridors stink of urine and excrement at times.

This is not a place for elderly frail people - my mother does not have dementia, yet she was placed here on an emergency respite. The care was inadequate, communication between managers and care givers non existent. My mother often did not have her prescribed medications at correct times, twice they
ran out of her medicine. She wasn't mobilized, major safeguarding issues with other residents stealing and getting into mum's room at 3am - and the whole place smells of urine as soon as you walk into the residents areas.

Choosing a carehome is a sad but significant moment and getting it right is important, after a few weeks I'm sure I did get it right.
My wife is well cared for in a happy situation, the staff are all you would hope for and I'm grateful to them all.
I visit every day and I'm also happy to be there.

I find all the staff friendly and helpful when I visit my mother. The residents all seem happy. The food looks nutritious and well prepared and all the facilities are well looked after. The gardens are well tended and the car parking is adequate.

My mother-in-law was a resident at Critchill Court Care Home for six weeks, sadly she died 21/08/2024. Five-star care! The care she was given was done with love and her dignity was never ever compromised. Without exceptions, the staff were amazing and looked after all the family members too. Whenever
the staff spoke to any of the residents, they were always very respectful, kind, and a little humorous even when it was not apparent anybody else could hear them.

My parents have both entered Critchill Court together and have been made to feel so amazingly welcome and cared for. Thank you all. Mum and Dad's health is improving, they feel safe and secure. The attitude of the staff is great both to the residents but also to my sister and I and other family visitors
at what is a difficult time for everyone. The change to Agincare ownership seems to be settling down; it must have been tough for the staff but they didn't let it affect their work. The food is good and getting better as the chefs have more freedom, drinks and snacks are always on offer from the trolley. There seem to be some good activities, and the garden is looking better with all-day access so residents to sit out safely. General healthcare is good, and access to nurses and doctors is excellent, including out-of-hours. I could say more, but let's just say we are very pleased with our experience so far and very happy mum and dad have moved into Critchill Court.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are glad your family feel supported and, most of all, Mum and Dad. We will continue to work as hard as we can for our residents and on the garden! Kind regards, Nichola.

Friendly, welcoming environment, staff are happy and caring. Mum is happy and healthy, which puts our minds at rest. Mum enjoys the excellent food and entertainment as well as sitting quietly looking at the garden flowers, birds and squirrels from her lounge.

My Mother came down for respite care - The staff was very welcoming and everything else was excellent but my Mother is temporarily deaf and was frightened by and couldn't converse with the other residents (most with some kind of dementia), but my mother at 93 years old still is very with it and bright.
The staff were so considerate and brilliant to Mum's predicament. She was taken to the hospital due to sickness of problematic hernia causing sickness and I was informed as so as paramedics were called and welcomed back warmly after her stay like a family member. I could see her and take her out for outings without a problem. Thank you.

Mum has been here for a year and she loved it here. She never wanted to go into a home but she has settled well and calls it her home now, staff are her family. We always get a lovely welcome from the staff when we visit. The home itself is a good size, but it does need decorating. It needs updating.
The activities room should stay as the residents enjoy it when they use it. Mum has definitely improved in herself, she even walks now. Music and dancing are her favourite.

Very happy with Mum's respite stay, right from the preliminary visit to discharge. All staff we met were kind and conscientious. Lovely welcome with flowers and a card. Room provided all that was needed, peace and quiet, a view onto the garden but easy access to the communal area where people can make
their own drinks and snacks and so maintain some independence. Pleasant laid-back atmosphere. Mum enjoyed having hair and nails done, as well as the activities she attended. She loved having baths, and a warm drink each night, a real treat.
Can't fault communication with Sunnymeade during her stay, staff easily accessible and very reassuring. They were extremely understanding and patient, which allowed us some relaxation time. We knew Mum was in good hands.

Very pleased with the staff in Sunnymeade; they are very good. The only complaint I have is with the food, which is very poor. Also, they come into my room at 6 am. I don't have any medication from them, but they still come in to wake me up, sometimes during the night as well.

from Pat G (Wife of Resident) published on 7 February 2024

My husband is in Sunnymeade and is happy he gets on well with the other people in the home. His only point is the food quality, which is not good. They have two choices at lunchtime, one being vegan, which older people do not like. They'd prefer food that they have had all their lives (meat and veg),
not a new fashion, which is tasteless and bland. The staff are great and look after him well.

Reply from Somerset Care, Somerset Care at Sunnymeade

Dear Pat, many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback for Sunnymeade - we are glad to hear that your husband is happy, settled and pleased with the care he receives. We were, however, sorry to read your comments about food choices. Our in-house kitchen team cater for a range of dietary requirements so that residents are able to choose meals which suit their individual preferences, tastes and medical needs. We are always open to feedback, so should yourself or your husband ever be disappointed with a meal, please let us know so that we can discuss this with you.
Many thanks,
Somerset Care
