Agincourt

from S S (Son of Resident) published on 15 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

I looked at several potential places when searching for a care home for my mother, but it was obvious to me on entering Agincourt that this is the one that would meet her needs best. The staff work hard, are considerate and kind and treat mum in such a way that she has maintained her dignity. I have
recently received an update and review on mum's care. It is so well detailed and at times so perceptively written that I don't need to ask for more information; and it gives an insight to mum's behaviour that one doesn't necessarily see during a brief visit.
Care homes are challenging environments: each one is different and individual and they won't all suit everyone, so it's worth doing the research.

Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home

from Julia D (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 April 2025

Wonderful and loving care for my mother for more than ten years almost to her 100th birthday. My review is about Edwardian building.
Special thanks to the manager and other members of the team. Also to another member of staff and her hard working colleagues. Thanks too to the activities team.
I visited
almost every day and was treated as part of the Chalgrove family.

Reply from Paul Beasley, Registered Manager at Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home

We will miss your mother at Chalgrove and seeing you most days also. Will be very strange not seeing you both in the home after so many years at Chalgrove. I am pleased you found the care at Chalgrove so good. Please do pop in and see us whenever you can.

Beaufort Park Retirement Village

from Anne C (Niece of Resident) published on 9 April 2025

My husband and I visited my aunt on 17th March and whilst sitting chatting to her in the dining room, she started gasping for breath. I alerted Beaufort staff, who were absolutely amazing, managing to bring my aunt round. An ambulance was called immediately and while we were waiting the Beaufort staff
were so caring towards my aunt, whom they put into the recovery position on advice. The paramedics were excellent and my aunt was now asleep in a wheelchair. The Beaufort staff were so attentive throughout and were advised that a GP would visit. My aunt was then moved to another lounge and made very comfortable, whilst being monitored. We visited the next morning to find my aunt much recovered and I cannot thank the Beaufort staff enough for all their care and compassion, not only throughout this emergency but everyday.

Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home

from S M (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

The care was very good, the carers and nurses were all very caring and considerate to my mother, she was very well. I know the home put on daily activities, the ones I knew about were always very good, but my mother did not attend activities on a daily basis, as she was bedridden most of the time. The
staff did hoist my mother in and out of bed, but eventually she was to frail for that to happen unfortunately

Reply from Paul Beasley, Registered Manager at Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home

We are delighted you feel the care, nursing staff and care staff are good. I know our activities team provide 1-1 support for residents looked after in their beds to ensure all residents have stimulation. I will be sure to review activities provided to your mother and establish if there's anything else we can support her with further. Thank you for your feedback.

Admiralty Care Home

from A M (Brother of Resident) published on 9 April 2025

Overall Admiralty Care home have been good, the daytime staff are very good and have a good rapport with my relative. My relative feeds back that the food is very good and the staff very kind.
On the down side it seems to me that the night staff are not so attentive as when my relative phoned me to
tell me she was not well, we found that they were slow to respond and did so after I phoned twice to get them to action, eventually I had to take matters into my own hands and call an ambulance.
Also I have concerns regarding my relatives personal hygiene and concerns regarding the fact that she has had scabies for several months and that only recently has PPE been put into place.

The staff are excellent , friendly and welcoming .
My mother in law receives good care however I think it is a shame she doesn't appear to be wheeled into the communal areas anymore and is always in her room .
I understand that this may be as a result of her not understanding and a reluctance to
be moved but we feel it would enhance her day if she could "
Join in" with some of the activities
I never see her in the photos on the social media site. It is always the same residents

Chalgrove Care and Nursing Home

from Stella F (Daughter of Resident) published on 8 April 2025

Dreadful place. My stepmum was placed here further to being hospitalised Feb 2024. She had Alzheimer's and had lost the ability to walk, feed herself or communicate. My father chose a room on the ground floor but was persuaded to change to a room on the 1st floor as was told bigger room would allow
them to get a hoist in so she could get to lounge/dining room. She never left the room once in the 3 months she was there! Her view was the side of a wardrobe. She had no care and her condition rapidly deteriorated. Always thirsty when we visited. Had to get SS involved to get her moved out before she died there. Moved to a great home in the end where she improved and was treated with dignity and respect.

I am saddened to read your feelings and perception around your stepmothers stay at Chalgrove. I do recall your step mother and recall circumstances to those you describe being very different, however cannot disclose details on this forum due to confidentiality. We strive to deliver the best care and support to our residents possible and are regretful of your feelings towards the home, despite our efforts to meet family expectations conflicted by the wishes of your step mother. Of course we continue to improve and grow as a service and I will ensure I review details of your stepmothers stay and find any learnings we can take from this.

I am the daughter of a resident at Admiralty care home. Overall happy with the care provided. Located near our family and provides care for the elderly with dementia.
The home has undertaken a lot of positive changes in the past year.
On the whole the staff are friendly, more care staff needed
as understaffed and overworked. Doesn't seem to be good staff to resident ratio.
Home is kept adequately clean, there is room for improvement.
Activities are well organised, residents seem to enjoy taking part.
Rooms vary, mum's is a good size with views over the lovely garden where in the warmer moths is a good place to sit, more fresh air always good, as would outings.
Food always looks good and tasty with a varied choice, the dining area is roomy and bright.
Communication with the management team is good and queries addressed.
Would recommend the home and grateful for the care provided

Gorseway Park Retirement Village

from V L (Wife of Resident) published on 7 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Gorseway Nursing Home is situated in a very attractive physical setting. The building is well planned and the rooms are spacious. The building is kept clean. There are a lot of care staff who are very kind, affectionate and caring to the residents. The management staff are easily accessible at the entrance
and are welcoming. All those in charge of care are accessible, welcoming and caring and make a point of speaking to residents' family members. The food is good, the residents look well dressed, and the care staff do spend time talking to them. There is a team of people planning events for the residents and their families. Car parking is a bit limited, and no dedicated disability care park facilities.

I am very grateful for the genuine care shown to both my mum and me by all the staff. Mum has always been treated with dignity and respect and they have always understood her complex dementia needs. The surroundings of the home are lovely and facilities, especially since refurbishment, are smart and

Norton Lees Care Home

from Marie W (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 April 2025
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5

This care home is clean, warm and comfortable and the individual bedrooms are a decent size and well appointed. The majority of the staff were friendly and caring and activities were provided for the residents.
However, my dad stayed here for 3 weeks of respite care and came home with pressure sores
he didn't have when he arrived having being left in his chair all day. Catheter care was a little lacking as neither the leg or the night catheter bags were changed during his stay(even though dad had spares) and despite allergies to the traditional catheter straps, which the home were made aware of, he came home with catheter straps and welts on his thigh rather than the leg sleeves we provided. The breakfasts were excellent, but the warm meal usually served at lunch time was delivered with out a cover and on cold plates from the kitchen so the food was often luke warm at best. There was no warm meal choice and variety was lacking often served with frozen veg.

My brother went to the care home for respite after breaking his hip. I have to say all the staff are wonderful and caring, and made my brother's stay a very pleasant one. All our questions were answered and they understood my brother's needs.
Heartfelt thanks to all the staff and also special thanks

My grandmother has been a resident at Bluegrove since late 2024 and we are extremely happy with the care she is given. All the carers are very friendly and are always have a smile to greet you. They have various ongoing activities throughout the week and the christmas carol singers at the christmas
party was a treat!

Communication is great and nothing is too much trouble.

I would highly recommend!
