My mother has been resident now for 15 months and has settled in well, she's looked after very well and there's plenty for her to be involved with. The staff are always very kind and polite, they clearly put a lot of effort into caring for the residents and the management team are very nice and are
always helpful.

Reply from Jack Hendy, Manager at The Willows Nursing Home

Thank you for taking the time to leave us with a review. We are pleased that your Mother has settled in well and that you feel she is well cared for. It is also positive to see that your experience with the management team has been good. I will share your kind words with our team.

Not sure how this place has managed such a high rating on here. The decline in my grandad in such a short stay is disgusting. Under staffed so can't meet toileting needs. Not using common sense to assist residents with meals if and when required. Communication is non-existent, for instance... my grandad
was deemed as unmanageable and nobody decided to inform family before arranging an assessment and a new home found by the time we found out, due to visiting! The hospital shouldn't be placing such vulnerable residents in this shambles of a home, I really would not recommend sending your family here as they will not be safely cared for.

Reply from Jack Hendy, Manager at The Willows Nursing Home

Thank you for your review. We do take reviews such as this seriously. Our ratings are based on the positive experiences of residents and their families. We at the time of your Grandad's stay had not experienced any shortages of staff. During mealtimes, we aim to promote and maintain independence, whilst providing support and encouragement where this is required. You had made us aware you would be looking for another home for your Grandad. This was due to wanting somewhere closer to home. To support you with this, the social worker arranged for an assessment to take place, which you and your family were informed of. I apologise that your experience was not as positive as others that we have received. Had you of raised any concerns at the time of your Grandad's stay here, we could have supported you with finding clarity and a resolution. Your Grandad was a pleasure to care for, and we hope he has settled well. The team and I wish you and your family well for the future.

My aunt was cared for with the utmost dignity. We had a negative experience with a previous home, so we decided to visit the Willows on our way home. From the beginning the Manager and team treated us with so much care and showed us around, after this my aunt moved in quickly and we could finally rest
knowing she was safe. All of the carers, and nurses kept us up to date with my aunt's needs, we never had to worry. She was looked after with such respect at the end of her life and the staff understood her dementia so well. I would not think twice about sending your loved one here, thank you to The Willows for everything you did for my aunt.

My mom has been a resident for over 5 years. She has been looked after to the highest degree possible. We as a family have been very happy with Mom's care, also the degree of care we have received before Mom's passing. All the staff have been very kind to Mom and let me tell you Mom was not an easy
person to care for. She could have tantrums. Scratch bite and spit for no good reason. So thank you all.
Each year has been the same care.

We have looked after Mom for 5 years and it was a hard decision to let Mom go in for respite, it was a great decision!
The staff were lovely and The Willows was clean and looked after.
Mom was well cared for and we could not have wished for a better experience for her and us. The care was excellent
and the staff should be very proud.
We shall let Mom stay again. Excellent dementia care. Thank you.

From the first visit to The Willows, the reception was first class and my father was looked after so well right from the beginning. My father is 92 and our little family finally found peace and trust in The Willows's care after a traumatic time whilst Dad was at home or in hospital and that means so
much to us now. We have visited Dad and he couldn't stop praising the staff, he loves them. SO thanks and love to all involved in the running of The Willows and caring for Dad.

My mom was in The Willows from March 2023 until July 2024. From day one she and ourselves were put at ease. The staff make you feel so at ease. My mom's care needs were fully understood and met and over the last couple of months more so as her dementia declined, I cannot thank them enough for helping
to find ways to assist her as she did become quite challenging. She never complained about her food, and always said she had enjoyed it. The cleaning staff keep the place spick and span and it always smells lovely in there. I know if she could, my mom would say a very big thank you to all of the staff there, so as my mom moves on to her new place I can only hope we get what we had from The Willows.
From mom, myself and my husband - thank you.

Since early May 2024, my mother-in-law has resided at The Willows. From day one, we were all made to feel very welcome, and put at ease and any needs we felt my mother-in-law had were met and sorted immediately, and are still met. She's nurtured and cared for with genuine affection shown to all residents
by the staff. The cleanliness of the residents is exemplary with the nourishing food on offer each day quite amazing. Thank you, staff and management. We sleep at night now, a new experience.

I was worried about my mom going into The Willows looking back on reviews, but I found all the staff from cleaners to carers and nurses to be very professional and caring. My mom was kept immaculate, and she was turned on a regular basis to prevent sores and was treated with respect. My family and I
were kept informed of any changes, and there was always a friendly member of staff on hand, offering us drinks, etc. Mom's room was sufficient. Only thing I can think to gripe about maybe is the place could do with a lick of paint now, carpets, etc.
Also, more going on, entertainment, but I believe they are employing someone.

My elderly mother-in-law was transferred, with no discussion with family, to the home from the hospital following a fall. Looking at reviews, we were really worried but we didn’t have to be.
The staff went above and beyond their jobs to make her comfortable, spent time with her when family not visiting,
showed respect, kept her clean and pure compassion in her end-of-life week was outstanding from all staff members, be it the cleaner, volunteers or top nursing staff.
Family was kept informed at all stages and was made to feel welcome and was constantly brought drinks when we sat with her in her end-of-life moments so we didn’t have to leave her.
Home may need a bit of paint here and there but they have the excellent staff to care for your relatives and that's what counts.

My 96-year-old mother was transferred to The Willows Nursing Home a few weeks ago following a short stay in hospital after a fall at her own home.
I found the staff to be extremely kind and attentive towards her, she took to them instantly and received the highest standard of care from them all.
The
staff always treated my mother with respect and dignity, always keeping me informed of any changes to her declining health.
I am really grateful to The Willows' staff for providing peaceful and dignified end-of-life care.

My mum is in The Willows Nursing Home at the moment and I am extremely happy with the care she is receiving.
She is well-fed. She is doing activities such as painting and quizzes and is building lovely friendships with other residents in the communal areas.
She is always carefully dressed, clean and
tidy and has had lovely baths which she hadn’t been able to manage for years (only showering).
The staff are caring, lovely, friendly and approachable.
Nothing has been too much trouble... such as picking up newspapers for residents from the shops and collecting prescriptions etc.

I was amazed to see the difference in my friend. She came from another home to The Willows. The previous home kept her in bed all the time. Now she is up, bathed, dressed and eating nice food. (Previously, they gave her food and she was too poorly to feed herself, so she was not eating). But most of
all, she was smiling and happy. Well done The Willows.

Honestly cannot fault this place. For the last six weeks, since Mom has been there, she has actually improved in lots of ways because of the care and attention she has received from the lovely staff. It is always spotlessly clean and appears very well organised. Great that the staff also are there
to support my Dad who visits every day - they have been most respectful and kind. Keep up the great work!

The home is clean, the staff pleasant and the management approachable if there are any concerns or problems. The lift not working is concerning if your relative is upstairs. Sometimes we have to ask staff to find Mom's things as they go missing but we're sure this happens in most care homes.

From the minute my grandad went into The Willows Care Home his health started to rapidly decline. Many times we told the staff and the doctors that came to visit the residents about the medication and prescriptions he needed and each time they kept telling us that they are assessing each resident in
what they need.
Each day we visited my grandad would tell us how hungry he was, so we started making him food at home and bringing it down with us.
My grandad was in The Willows care home for a total of seven weeks before his health declined that badly and he died in there. We really wished we had chosen another care home for him to of gone into but when initially visiting The Willows it was one of the better ones we had viewed.
Unfortunately, this was not the case which we could see each day we were visiting (we visited my grandad every day while he was in The Willows). Each day we visited we could see that there was a lack of care given to residents due to there not being nearly enough staff.

I am writing this in respect of my late mother who lived at The Willows, Darlaston, West Midlands.

Mom passed away on 17th June 2018, she was 93 years old. I just want to say she was looked after with impeccable care during the two and a half years that she lived at The Willows. This was especially

true in her last months, and in the last stages of dementia. All staff at all levels made us as a family feel welcome and included in all aspects of her care. She was always treated with affection and sensitivity, and her dignity was maintained to the last.

Can I just say a huge thank you to everyone at the home and to your organisation. As a family, we will never forget the kindness we have been shown.

Kindest regards
