Our friend entered the home in August 2024. We had several visits beforehand and had liked the atmosphere and ethos of the home. He settled in straight away due to the friendliness and support of the management and staff. He put on weight, looked so much better and was a lot happier with life. Such
a successful outcome! He has continued to make great progress living in the home going on outings taking part in activities and forming friendships. This is all due to the dedication and hard work of staff and management.

I have just attended my brothers 4 week review, and whilst there requires to be more time and experience to review my brother's care in Craigbank, the time and information, consideration given at the review was very helpful and I look forward to working with Craigbank to support my brother's personalised
and diverse care needs. Staff are pleasant, smiling and welcoming which makes all the difference.

My sister moved into Haydale in April 2024 and the staff have been very supportive with her needs. She is well fed and her personal care needs are met on a daily basis. There are plenty of activities to keep her amused in the home and the nurses always make sure that she receives the appropriate medication.
She is very happy and settled in Haydale.

Sister-in-law moved into care home this year and due to the caring staff she settled in well and nothing was a bother to them. They supported her with any tasks and very quickly she trusted them with her personal care. They were quick to notice any issues and deal with them. Staff make her feel safe
and secure and welcome all her visitors. They include and interact with her in all activities.

My husband has been a resident since July 2020. The staff are very good in caring for him. They keep me updated and include me in his needs and any concerns as per his care plan.
I am involved in his care plan and any decisions in his day to day living. Although my husbands's condition is that he
can no longer communicate or make decisions, I am confident that all aspects of his care are being met.

Since arriving at Whitehill Golfhill Care Home the staff have shown great care and compassion towards my mum. All staff are friendly and go out of their way to help answer my questions about dementia and medical needs. The staff are fantastic at encouraging Mum to participate in activities, she loves
to crochet, get her nails done, karaoke, baking and getting her hair done. They encourage her to remain mobile and independent. I never leave worried about her after visiting as I know she is in good caring hands. Lots of festive parties to look forward to.

Fall due to a carer hitting a bump in the shower room where Mum was tipped onto the floor causing injuries and had to go to A&E. Falls due to being in a pitch dark bedroom with no light on during the night. Just found out recently. Minimum ÂŁ100 each time the carer escorts Mum to the hospital. Complaints
are not always taken on board. On the advice of GP to phone an ambulance, until I phoned GP, a delay in phoning an ambulance of a couple of hours. Whatever you want to take from this.

Reply from Fiona Hunter, Home Manager at Haydale Care Home

Thank you very much for your feedback. We're extremely sorry about the unfortunate issue caused by a dropped shower tray, this was rectified very quickly. We understand the distress caused by this when you visited and we offered our full support. You had been given every opportunity, as per the company's escorting policy, to escort your mum to the hospital however you had chosen for staff to attend on your behalf due to your working circumstances. I can confirm the home takes all complaints very seriously and the door remains open should you wish to speak to the management team directly. Apologies again.

My aunt unfortunately passed away in August 2024. She had been a resident of Deanfield since February 2017. In all that time she was treated with the utmost respect and care from all the staff and management. Deanfeld truly was her happy place. The staff deserve credit for the attention and care given
to their residents.

Having just had a relatives meeting at the home I am really pleased with what has been outlined for the future of the unit as a whole. They have over the last six months put things in place which are now showing a great benefit to the residents. I am aware that funding is a problem throughout the care
industry but with more discussion I'm sure we all can help our loved ones. I am really happy with the care and support my wife received, it is great to know that she is treated with dignity.

Craigbank Care Home

from V M (Husband of Resident) published on 8 August 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My wife has been a resident in Craigbank for 3 years, having previously been in another care facility. She moved to Craigbank because her illness is advanced and she requires a lot of care. Throughout her time in Craigbank, I have been very pleased and satisfied with the care and attention to her has
been of a high standard. I can see that she is always dealt with in a friendly manner with respect and dignity. Although communication is difficult I can see that my wife trusts her carers and responds well to them. All the staff are caring and patient with the needs of the residents. I have total trust in all of them. I have always been told of any issues r.e. health etc, timings.
I honestly cannot believe that my wife would receive with care anywhere else. A big thank you to all staff.

My mother came into the care home in February. The staff and management were very helpful, kind and attentive. There were some issues regarding other residents coming into my mother's room, this was due to other residents having Dementia so I was understanding of this. The staff tried different tactics
and solutions to deter other residents from coming into my mother's room. When another room had become available she was moved to another more suitable room. This was much better and more reassuring. Overall I can't thank the staff enough for the care and kindness they have given my mother, family and friends.
