My husband was in the care of the staff at Burrswood,, I cannot praise highly enough the care and attention he received it was second to none,
He was diagnosed with lung cancer and given a short time to live,,the staff made his last few months so comfortable, talking to him, comforting him they called
in to chat to him often,,this made my torment bearable knowing he was in good hands,The staff were friendly ,always a smile when i came to visit and i was always made welcome,,I was kept updated regularly on the changes of medication and his condition as it deteriorated over the 3 months he resided at Burrswood,,
I will always be grateful to the Staff,,Thank you for your devotion to the work you do caring for those in need at the end of their lives,,THANK YOU

Its a pleasure to give a review for Gorton Parks Care Home. Mum has been at the home since February 2024. We are so very grateful to all the staff for the wonderful care, compassion and dignity they give to Mum. Inspite of her dementia she has flourished at the home, we can see she is happy, settled
and has made friendships with other residents and the carers. As a Health Professional myself I would highly reccommend Gorton Parks Care Home, they have supported us all as a family and we would not want Mum to be anywhere else. A huge ' Thank-You' to each and everyone one of you, you are all amazing!

Reply from Julie Manson, Administrator at Gorton Parks Care Home

Thank you so much for your lovely review; it's great to know your mum has settled in so well with us. Our staff all work very hard to make Gorton Parks a home to be proud of and more importantly, somewhere our residents are happy to be. We'll make sure your kind words are passed on to them all.

We are pleased with my mum's care. The carers are friendly and always show care and concern towards our mum on times when we've visited. I've had to mention a few things when concerned e.g occasions when she's been thirsty, cold (needed a blanket, or didn't have socks on). Also, the crash mat had been
taken from against the wall next to her bed to stop her hitting her head on the wall. Fortunately, I was visiting to see this.

Thank you for your review and your kind words about our care staff, which we very much appreciate. Your review has been passed on to the senior management team at the Home and they would be delighted to speak to you in more detail about your mum's care and any concerns you might have.

The staff at beech house were truly amazing with my dad in the two weeks he was there
Whilst his needs were assessed.
As a family we felt like they kept us fully informed at all times and if we had any concerns they were more than happy to help. All the staff were extremely friendly and always made
Sure
my dad was clean and comfortable even the times he was being difficult. I can honestly say the staff work so hard and they engage with all the residents even when they are really busy they treated my dad with dignity and respect at all times that goes for all the staff from nurses to the cleaners. We felt reassured that my dad was receiving the correct care whilst he was at beech house. We cannot thank the staff enough for making my dads time at beech house a positive experience and it was the only the distance for us that we knew we would have to move him to somewhere closer to home.

Reply from Paul Lawson, National Sales Manager at Bedford Care Home

Thank-you very much for your review and kind comments. We are delighted that your dad enjoyed his stay with us and that you and the family were so pleased and reassured. My Father was placed in Bedford Care Home after 2 strokes, Wigan hospital said he was moving to a home, it was a worry for my sisters and I, to be fair we had not heard of Bedford Care Home, however, there was no need to worry as all the staff where fantastic, my Father had his own room, but spent most
of his time in the communal lounge, where the was always staff around to cater for all his needs, the staff also created interesting things for them all to do, my Father actually enjoyed the care, and they helped him with his recovery, as he began to feel better, and eventually we took him home.
I have to say, "The staff helped him in his recovery and my thanks go out to them".

Gorton Parks has not only cared for my ailing dad but every carer we have encountered has cared for me and my family as well. This isn't just a professional establishment, it is personal as the staff care personally for the residents in their care.
The respect and attention they show is second to
none and as a family member, I feel safe knowing my dad resides here.
Thank you everyone.

Before my Mum was moved to Bedford, she stayed inside all day, she didn't eat well, didn't sleep well, was reluctant to mix with other people and was becoming more and more agoraphobic and morbid. Since she moved to Bedford in January, she has really started to enjoy life a lot more. She has been out
to dancing and singing events, Bolton aquarium and museum, attended parties and made new friends and is even going ten pin bowling next week! I am so thrilled with the love and care provided by the whole team at Bedford, especially the way the activities team are able to get my Mum involved. It must have taken an enormous effort to get my Mum to believe she can be happy again and I can really see that she enjoys every interaction with the carers, nurses and staffing team. She now eats like a horse, sleeps in a proper bed and she even thanked me on my last visit for "giving her, her life back!". Thank you to the Bedford team for caring and helping my Mum to 'be happy' again!

Reply from Paul Lawson, National Sales Manager at Bedford Care Home

Thank you so much for your review. We are delighted to have been able to help your dear mum and we're all are over the moon that she has been thriving and progressing so well at Bedford Care Home. Wouldn't put my worst enemy in this care home, the lack of care and acknowledgement the staff give their patients is evil. My nan sat from 6am to 4:30 pm in her own filth and was only changed as I requested it. This was done on multiple occasions. 40 beds and 5 staff at best. Ridiculous. Luckily we
moved my nan to a different care facility after 2 weeks. I would give this place 0 stars if I could.

Reply from Paul Lawson, National Sales Manager at Bedford Care Home

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are deeply sorry to hear about your experience and understand how distressing it must have been for you and your family. At the time of your nan's stay, our staffing levels were 6 staff to 30 residents (4 care staff, a nurse, and a nurse assistant) This ratio meets the needs and levels of dependency in the house and previous reviews are testament to the high standards we set. We apologise that we did not meet these expectations for you and your nan. We wish this issue had been brought to our attention sooner so we could have worked together to resolve any concerns. We are committed to continually improving our care practices, and we take your feedback seriously as part of that process. If you would like to discuss this matter further, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you. We truly value the trust families place in us, and are dedicated to providing the best care for all residents. Best wishes.

I would like to say that the staff, from the people behind the scenes, to the staff on the units, are amazing. The care and love they give, without it being false, is truly humbling. Both our parents are there and I can say hand on heart it was the best thing we could have done for Mum and Dad. There
is joy and laughter, the rooms are clean and if mum is having one of her off days, shall we say, they go above and beyond, even making her jam butties, as she loves them. Never have I left there thinking I'd chosen the wrong home. I know I couldn't have done any more. All the staff are brilliant.
I don't know the management hence 4 stars, but everyone else is 5.

My mum went into care in October 2024 due to her Lewy bodies. She was initially assessed in a unit and then was moved to Astley House. Since being there, my sister and I are much happier. She is more settled and content. My dad came into Astley House in December 2024. We tried to keep him home but he
wanted to be with mum. He is well cared for. The carers are kind and look after all residents with a passion for ensuring they are engaged in activities and happy.

My mum moved to Bedford Care Home in December following twelve months in another care home. We chose Bedford due to my mum's rapid declining health with dementia and Alzheimer's. The care home she originally went in did not meet her care needs, since moving to Bedford last month, I have noticed a massive
change in her everyday life.
She has now settled in relatively well, has a lovely room which we have been able to make a "home". The staff from senior management, carers, domestics and activity workers are brilliant.
They are very knowledgeable when dealing with advanced dementia and very caring.
This for us, as a family, has been the best and right decision for my lovely mum.
I used to dread visiting her in her other care home as both she and myself would be quite stressed and get upset, now, thanks to Bedford, I do not have the same worries and anxiety, this is due to them actually caring for my mum like one of their own.

My dad was a resident on Lilford Unit for over three years and latterly, on Pennington where Dad passed away. The care my dad received was given with love, patience and kindness during this time by all staff. During end of life, the care team attended to Dad, making sure he was clean and comfortable.
Both day and night staff treated Dad with kindness and respect while he was unconscious and everyone supported me throughout the time there, giving me emotional support and care. What I can take away from my experience is that everyone knocked on the door before entering Dad's room, his personal care was attended to every 2 hours, both day and night. I was given plenty of food and drinks while I stayed with Dad and received lots of emotional support. Care staff from other units who knew Dad visited to see how he was doing and when he passed gave me their condolences.
I never wanted Dad to go to hospital but stay at the care home to die as he was cared for so well by brilliant and caring people.

My dad was a resident from August until December. Although the home itself is a little tired in places, the care received was exemplary. Dad always looked clean and cared for. He was checked on regularly and when he got ill, the staff ensured he got the care he needed by ringing for an ambulance in
a timely manner. We were able to decorate his room with photos and other personal items and he could even have his own reclining chair. Unfortunately, he did not recover from his last illness. The staff were so compassionate when family members visited to collect his belongings. I would highly recommend it.

My mother who is 89 years of age has been a resident in Astley House Bedford Care Home for the past 12 months. After suffering from frequent falls it became apparent she required 24 hour care. All the staff are excellent in their care and treatment of my mother and the organised activities are a great
way in helping to keep her mind active, slowing down the declining process that aging brings. The food is excellent quality with great variety and I find this is also helping in giving her more strength in her body than she previously had. The days out are superb whether it's visiting a museum or having afternoon tea. Regular visits from the hairdresser ensures my mother always looks nice keeping her dignity. She has her own room if she wants some quiet time but I always find her in the main room with all the other residents socialising. I am extremely pleased and grateful to the staff for their dedication carrying out their duties and their treatment of my mother.

Mum is happy and settled on the unit. The team care for her with dignity and respect, supporting her as required.
Relatives are kept informed regularly of a service user's progress, changes in health needs, including liaising with the multi-disciplinary team. Team members genuinely care about the residents
and can often be seen chatting to them.
Regular meetings are held where plans for the home are shared and questions answered.
The staff are always happy to answer questions regarding your relative.
Senior members of staff are also willing and do support the staff, relatives and service users.
The well-being team provide daily activities and trips out. They provide innovative ways to engage residents' participation.
Care plans are regularly updated, providing high-quality individualised care according to a resident's needs.
Residents are encouraged to make decisions for themselves.
Mum's room recently was redecorated and new furniture.
All in all, a great unit.
My mum's health had deteriorated in the last few months prior to progressing to Mum requiring end-of-life care.
Additional equipment was obtained to meet her needs.
Staff, including senior staff were very supportive both to my mum and myself.
Mum deteriorated very quickly one night and the staff who were on duty had known Mum since her admission and were amazing. They stayed with her until I could get there and were so supportive.
The next morning, the undertaker came for Mum and many of the staff came to pay their respect.
On the day of the funeral, as we prepared to leave Bedford Care Home, many of the staff came to offer sincere condolences and pay their respects as they said goodbye to Mum.
Some of the team came to the funeral.
On behalf of the family, I just want to say a huge thank you for everything they've done for Mum and the family.

The care given to my mum by the team on the Crompton unit is exceptional. My mum has advanced mixed dementia and quickly went from living at home with my dad to hospital and then Crompton. We couldn't have asked for a nicer team and with the added support from management who embraced our family, especially
my dad who challenged everything at the beginning because, after fifty-five years marriage, he knows my mum best. We now feel part of the Crompton team and although hard to accept we can't care for Mum at home, we couldn't ask for a better place than Burrswood Care Home.
