My mother was living at Oak Hall for just over a year. She received excellent care right up to her passing. The staff were very supportive and helpful, and as her retirement flat was within the grounds of the home, it meant an easy transition from being in her own home to being cared for.

Reply from Jane McAuley, General Manager at Oak Hall Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It was a pleasure to look after your Mum during her time at Oak Hall. She settled in very well when she moved in and being able to go out in the same grounds was a bonus. Thank you for your kind words.

Such a wonderful home. They looked after my Mum with such care and it was easy to see how much they cared for her, both her physical needs but more importantly her emotional needs. They were also always very caring to me and it felt like our second home.
I honestly could not had chosen a better home
for my Mum.
I would recommend this home to everyone they work hard at providing a high level of care and also activities to keep the residents motivated. The communication was excellent, always would ring me if there were any concerns and would respect my wishes for mum's care.
A truly wonderful home.

Reply from Jane McAuley, General Manager at Oak Hall Care Home

What a lovely review. Your Mum was truly one of our family. Always happy with a warm hello and a beaming smile when we entered her room. Thank the staff for everything they did for her. Such a kind lady, she would join in with all the activities, especially the games and bingo. She also likes the gardening club and sitting outside in the sunshine especially if she could enjoy a small glass of wine in the afternoon. She is missed by many. Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review.

My elderly mother moved to Oak Hall following a fall which restricted her ability to walk. We have been very pleased with all aspects of the home. It is a lovely building set in beautiful surroundings but is easily accessible. Without exception, the staff are friendly and always willing to assist in
any way they can. My mother's room is bright and airy and she has personalised it with her own pictures and ornaments. We have had an excellent experience.

Reply from Jane McAuley, General Manager at Oak Hall Care Home

Thank you for your review. I'm so pleased your Mum chose to stay with us. It's important that people have personal items around them and can make their rooms as homely as possible. Oak Hall is such a grand building but always feels so homely when people are inside. I'm happy that Mum and the family found the staff friendly. Thank you again for leaving such a positive review.

Mum had been a resident for just over 3 years. She loved the staff-all of them and, it was clear, they really cared for her. She enjoyed a laugh and they made time to chuckle with her. The activities programme was very varied but Mum was never under pressure to join in if she didn't want to. Having
said that, being very social, she did most things. She liked the food too. Being cooked on-site, it was always interesting and nicely presented. Sadly Mum died recently and the staff then were so helpful to us. If we had to place a relative in a care home again, I wouldn't hesitate to contact OakHall. We have no regrets. Mum was very content there.

Reply from Jane McAuley, General Manager at Oak Hall Care Home

It was such a pleasure to have Mum with us. She was a real character and always saw the funny side of every situation. So good at quizzes and word searches. If she couldn't find the right word she would simply make one up. Always grateful for what the staff did for her she will be forever missed as will your family. Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review.

The staff and care they give my mother is second to none. She is treated with kindness, and respect and given every opportunity to be in control of her care and life at St Cross. The nursing care has been excellent and she is in far better health, (dealing with numerous physical problems) since she
has been at St Cross. The rooms, dining area, and surroundings are beautifully kept, a calm and relaxing environment to live in. With her physical problems, the one thing my mother can enjoy in life is her food, and she has been thrilled with the meals, not one complaint! Delicious meals, with loads of choices and variations. I can finally relax in the knowledge my mum is in a safe, caring, and happy environment. Huge thanks and appreciation to all the fabulous staff.

Gosh what a wonderful review. The team will be so proud when they read it. They really do go the extra mile and your kind words and support really make a difference. I am so happy you are content as a family that Mum is in safe hands. St Cross is a beautiful place to live and who couldn't fail to thrive on the delicious home cooked food from the head chef and her team. Thank you once again from us all, your kindness and appreciation means the world to us.

My mum has been a resident at Lincombe Manor for over five years. When she was first admitted we thought she might have only months to live but it is a testament to the excellent care given by all the wonderful staff that she is still with us and today we celebrated her 90th Birthday. We thought Mum
would struggle to live in a care home because she has always been fiercely independent but Lincombe Manor has clearly given her a new lease of life, many thanks to the manager and the wonderful caring and friendly staff, who are professional at all times.

Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care Centre

Thank you for such a wonderful review. It means a great deal to us at Lincombe when we see the recognition of our efforts from established relatives such as yourselves. To know that you trust us to provide excellent care for Mum after five years really is a testament to the team's passion for getting it right. Mum certainly has been nursed back to full strength remaining fiercely independent at the grand age of 90. She is Lincombe Manor's very own champion bingo caller and we could not do without her. Thank you for all your kindness and support over the years. It really does mean a lot to us.

Mum has been at Lincombe Manor since January. From our very first visit, every member of staff has always been so very welcoming and lovely to us. As a family, we now feel we have peace of mind knowing that Mum is so well cared for. I have visited many care homes over the years. I can honestly say that
Lincombe Manor is one of the best care homes by far. It is in such a lovely setting with amazing views from the residents' lounge. As soon as anything is of concern regarding mum's health, for example, infection or increased pain, it is acted on immediately. Again giving us peace of mind as this was always something that was very challenging when Mum was living independently.
Mum really enjoys the activities. When she is able to attend. They always make them good fun for the residents.
Thank you to all the caring staff for looking after our mum so well. It is such a comfort to know she is safe and we all feel part of the family when we visit.

Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care Centre

What a beautiful review, thank you. It is our pleasure to care for your mum and to enable her to live well. It is good to know that you and your family have peace of mind in the knowledge that your mum is being well cared for and that all of your concerns are dealt with immediately. We are very lucky to be in such a scenic location, we are all spoilt with the views that we have. Your mum really does make the most out of the facilities that we have to offer, throwing herself into the activities. We all enjoy your visits. It's nice to know that you have been made to feel so welcome and part of the Lincombe family.

Oak Hall Care Home

from Gary F (Son of Resident) published on 10 December 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

Dad was a resident at Oak Hall from February 2022 to his death in October 2024.
The superb team of carers and nurses looked after him with warmth, humour and humanity. They made Dad laugh and vice versa. How vital is that?
When we wanted to have Dad changed, dressed, and hoisted into his wheelchair
so that he could get outside for some fresh air, there was always somebody to help. After a walk and lunch, wherever possible outside, someone was always there to help us get him back into bed.
The team get all the important things right. Dad was looked after, washed, changed, fed, talked to. He never had a pressure sore whilst he was there.
The beautifully maintained grounds are a sanctuary - somewhere to depressurize. We'd sometimes bring a picnic and sit in the sun. We wheeled Dad down to the tennis court and the family had a combined tennis tournament and picnic. There was no issue with the management team; who are helpful, compassionate and knowledgeable. They were happy to accommodate us.
Thank You!

Reply from Jane McAuley, General Manager at Oak Hall Care Home

Thankyou for such a lovely review. We will always remember Dad and Mum with great fondness. They were such a delight to have in the home. His wisdom on cricket no doubt helped our staff hone their skills in the game. His humour always brought laughter to the home and you could hear him wherever he was chuckling away, he will be missed.

from B P (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 2 December 2024

As a self funding resident, whom at the age of 94 we expected better care and communication for premium rates. Poor communication, leading to a very poorly Dad admitted to hospital. Dangerously high blood pressure and bruising that couldn't and wouldn't be explained. A manager that runs a care home
more like a business than a care provider. Wouldn't take our concerns seriously - emergency removal to another home. Beware, the building might be beautiful but is the care?

Reply from Nicola Grace, General Manager at Lincombe Manor Care Centre

It is disappointing to read your review. We understand it is difficult when a loved one is unwell. When you raised your concerns to me at the time, I took them seriously and offered to meet with you, which you declined to do. Both CQC and Safeguarding also reviewed your concerns and confirmed that they were unfounded and that Lincombe Manor had followed all procedures correctly in the care of your father-in-law. Thank you for saying our building is beautiful. It reflects the quality care we deliver at Lincombe for all of our residents. Your father-in-law was a true gentleman who formed strong bonds with the staff that cared for him during his 9 month stay. We are sorry that we are no longer able to care for him, and hope that he has settled into his new home as well as he settled into Lincombe.

My mother went to St Cross Grange for respite after a fall at home. She is 95 and living alone has been increasingly difficult for her. After 3 weeks in respite, mum has decided she would like to live at St Cross permanently. When I asked her, are you sure, she replied, I feel safe, cared for and they
like me here. I'm no longer lonely. The food is delicious. I am more active and I've made friends. This is my life now.
My brother and I are so happy. Thank you to all the staff at St Cross Grange!
