My 2 weeks, respite care was very enjoyable being looked after well - didn't like a nurse coming in suddenly at 4 am.
A good Christmas lunch, but salmon was as hard as rocks! My room was great, well furnished but bed was against wall - bad.
Staff coped well with dementia care, but could have been
more attentive to TV needs. General atmosphere was pleasant - well done!

Whilst in the care home, my relative was treated with the utmost dignity and care. When she passed away, it appeared that the management did not care about her relatives or her personal possessions. When I collected her possessions, several items were missing and I had to ask for some which had been
put in store and not with her possessions. There was no contact or appearances at my relative's funeral or remembrance service at the church. I am really disappointed with the management once my relative had passed away as they had no thought of feelings for the relatives. I have heard nothing from the home and it is twelve months since.
The staff were most thoughtful with our loss but not the management.

The most amazing manager, outstanding. She is so caring, understanding, helpful and efficient. She went out of her way to find the best and most convenient room for Mum. She is the most lovely and personable hands-on manager. Even when plans changed and Mum needed to stay longer she sorted everything
out. The staff are all lovely and attentive. They really care and know all the patient's needs. After a visit to the care home before Mum stayed the manager even helped us get Mum back home and in the house by pushing her up the ramp. This just shows how far she goes to support and help. The care home is definitely a 5-star and beyond experience. Thank you for everything to the manager and all the adorable caring staff!

Manor Lodge is in a perfect setting in a leafy part of Exmouth, and with a small but pleasant garden. Rooms are well appointed and some, like Mum's, open onto the garden. Care staff are kind, helpful and attentive to the residents and their visitors. We enjoy our visits and often bring our little dog
who is a popular guest with the residents. The reason for the missing 5th star is that there is a notable lack of presence by the Aiveda management, despite promises. With costs escalating since Mum first arrived, there is a risk of a perception of 'business' over 'care' from the company. Overall, I would recommend Manor Lodge to anyone looking for residential family care in Exmouth.

Thank you for taking the time to review our care home. Your feedback is very valuable to us. I am pleased to hear that the carers are supporting your mother to the best they can. I am however sorry to hear your dissatisfaction over the presence of our manager. I am surprised to hear this as the manager is usually at the care home Monday to Friday. I have discussed this with her and she has advised that her office door is always open and occasionally may have been closed due to attendance at meetings. Having said this, should you wish to discuss this in detail, we would be more than happy to meet you.

We find the staff lovely and not too much trouble.
The food is great and plenty of choice. We visit every week and we are always offered a drink in the room that my sister-in-law is in and she is happy with the food and her room and she has a nice view.

My mother has been living at Manor Lodge for nearly a year. She is well cared for and her needs are met. She has a nice bright room and has enjoyed sitting in the lovely garden. The staff are always very welcoming to the family. Mum enjoys the home-cooked food, with meals being changed for her if she
wants something different. This is never a problem.
One observational criticism is the lack of stimulating activities, but this has improved in the time Mum has been there and I know that staffing issues can play a part in this. As a family, we can go to sleep at night knowing mum is content and being well looked after.

My mother gets well looked after and is happy here. She loves the staff and she says the meals are good. Visiting is always easy and accessible. It’s very good that entertainers come in, she loves a sing song. Christmas was lovely. Cooking and other activities are always welcome. My mother is much happier
now she has her own toilet facility.

My mum settled into Arthurs Court ready for Christmas 2020, continuing to enjoy the family of staff and residents through to this Christmas 2023 when she peacefully slipped away from this life. As one of four siblings we all agreed her new home offering social life and developing new friendships enabled
her to be best cared for as dementia developed. Living close by meant we could see her and speak with staff frequently, reassured by the continuity and social events arranged. We really appreciated the regular calls to discuss personal aspects of care and explanations of medical support as her needs progressed through 2023. Overall the service and personal interest taken by staff in their residents have impressed, confident that her room will offer a great space for the next resident to enjoy their later years.

Sunnyside was a lovely home for the last four years of my granny's life. The care staff are kind, patient and considerate. Granny always used to say she was very well looked after and that the food was very nice. The facilities are of good quality with a nice lounge and a lovely garden, which granny
enjoyed sitting in. Thank you to all the lovely people at Sunnyside over the last four years.

My stepmother was a resident at Arthurs Court Care Home from January 2023 to September, when she passed away. She was suffering from vascular dementia and required one-to-one care for 12 hours every day. I was deeply impressed by the high standard of care and training of the staff looking after all
the individual residents. My stepmother was a difficult patient due to her dementia, the care was brilliant. I really can't thank the staff enough. Thank you so much.

We are very grateful that, facing a swift closure of my mother's previous care home, the management and whole team at Manor Lodge Care Home found room to look after her. Mum has seemed much more relaxed since moving to Manor Lodge and is well cared for by dedicated staff who have a smile for everyone,
even though their days are very busy. Mum, herself, has said how comfortable she is at Manor Lodge and is very fond of all the staff she meets regularly. Many thanks to the whole team for providing a haven for Mum and confidence for the family that whatever is going on in our lives, she will be well cared for.

Manor Lodge Care Home

from Nicol G (Friend of Resident) published on 10 October 2023

This has to be the worst care home I have ever had the misfortune to visit. Most of the staff I had contact with spoke very little English.
Resident was there for 1 week only. The worst week of his life. He was treated like a 3rd class citizen. Manhandled by staff, staff used language he found disturbing
and left him feeling frightened, vulnerable and scared to go to sleep.
Things taken from his room without consent. Medication not given properly. I would not put my worst enemy in this facility.

Reply from Puja Raikundalia, Business Manager at Manor Lodge Care Home

Dear Nicol,
Thank you for providing us with feedback about our service.
Firstly, I would like to sincerely apologise for the dissatisfaction you and the service user have experienced at our care home.
As a care home, we aim to provide all our residents and their families with a high level of care and ensure they are supported throughout their journey in our care home.
The outcome of our investigation has been shared with the Adult Safeguarding team and CQC who have responded with no further concerns of our service.
Should you wish to discuss this any further, please feel free to contact our Registered Manager.
Kind Regards

My mother is well cared for and happy at Manor Lodge, my only criticism is the lack of activities and entertainment, the residents seem to need some simulation and fun, but they just sit in the lounge in the afternoons with the TV and fall a sleep, I believe there is a quiz occasionally, but I no my
mother has taken to going to her room most afternoons as she gets bored. Maybe the lack of this facility is due to funding, but I’m sure relatives such as myself would be willing too help raise funds or donate some money to cover some entertainment at least once a month.

My husband moved into Manor Lodge Care Home 2023. he is very happy in his new home and was welcomed along with his rabbits, by very caring friendly staff and manager. They have continued to promote his independence in looking after her rabbits and maintaining the beautiful gardens. He loved to be outside
as much as he can be, de-heading flowers, weeding etc. I have a peaceful mind knowing the staff are keeping a watchful eye on him and are at hand if needed. They will answer any concerns or questions if I have asked, always polite, happy and friendly. Well done all and thank you very much Manor Lodge.
