Have been left from Monday 7th April to Friday 11th in total agony. No reasonable pain relief given despite explaining 6 times a day in pain. Did not sleep for 2 weeks previous to coming here in Hospital. Assumed my pain and sleep issues would be met. Was promised a 24 hour pain patch for Thursday,
surprise I didn't get it. I am 59 years old and I do NOT HAVE DEMENTIA. I will continue to refuse to eat. I have been told I have full capacity but staff will not have a serious discussion about discharge.

A lovely, friendly, welcoming place. It feels cosy. The staff are wonderful and take excellent care of the residents. A nursing station is situated in the corner, thus able to keep a close eye on those in need of care.

Larchwood Care Home

from Joy F (Wife of Resident) published on 15 April 2025

My husband has been in Larchwood for over a year, in that time the new manager has done wonders, the home is always clean and homely, nothing is too much trouble, any problems are resolved quickly. There is always a member of staff on hand to discuss any needs, any medical problems are resolved quickly
.
The carers are kind and understanding of Dementia residents and give them the respect they deserve.
In difficult situations.

The entertainment team are first class and there is always a variety of activities for the residents.
The hairdresser and chiropodist visit regularly. The gardens are well kept with plenty of leisure areas for the residents to see the wildlife.

A very pleasant visit to see my Dad, he appeared to be very well looked after. Staff are so pleasant and caring. I was there during lunchtime and could sit with my Dad at mealtime. the food is excellent, a choice of meals are well cooked and nutritional (fresh vegetables and good quality meat). So pleased
that my Dad is resident in such a lovely care home.

The Staff and nurses have worked hard to help my wife recover from pressure sores which were discovered following a recent Hospital visit.
They (Larchwood) were proactive in getting her back from Hospital so they could provide the care and attention that was required to meet her needs as someone with
vascular dementia.
They are kind, supportive and most of all understanding.

New admission to Admirals Reach. Came to view the care home quite late in the day, one of the management staff showed around the unit, even when he was due to end his shift. Very polite, answered all my questions. Admission day - they were all very friendly, greeting the new resident. Staff are very
polite & courteous. They have got to know my relative very quickly, knowing what drink he likes and how he has this. The senior managers on the unit have an open door policy which is fantastic. They are supportive when I take my relative out for the day and return around 21.00. The food is excellent. Would recommend this care home.

My mother was end of life, palliative care when she was transferred to Godden Lodge Cephus ward. Although fairly independent at the time, she became more and more unwell. The team at Cephus and the care home manager couldn't have been more caring. They arranged for an early birthday party for her and
went over and beyond in making sure her ending was as comfortable and dignified as is possible. Thank you Cephus.

Mum is very happy at Godden Lodge, she has told us she is comfortable and feels safe. Mum really enjoys the company of the carers and nurses and thinks they are excellent. As a family we feel content and assured that we have put Mum in good hands. Thank you to all who work here.

My dad has bee in Admirals Reach for 5 years. He has received excellent care and a very personal service from al the carers and nurses in the wing. He seems happy and content and for my sister and I we know that he is well cared for, safe and very well looked after. The staff don't seem to change much
which I think is a very good sign.

My father has dementia and deteriorating health and could no longer be supported in his own home. Within a week of being in the home he appeared happy, clean and supported and showed improvement. Unfortunately he had a fall and was admitted to hospital but is back at the home now. Since he was discharged
on Wednesday he is already looking better. I would happily put myself into this home, they really look after my father.

Pleasant atmosphere in Mountbatten wing for both residents and visitors. Excellent occupational choices listed for the residents to enjoy. Respite facilities appear of a high standard. Staff are friendly and residents appear relaxed. Catering feedback is good. Hygiene levels appear good too. Next of
