When we were looking for a safe and happy home for my 96 year old mother we looked at reviews but they are not always accurate and you should not be seduced by them. Redesdale treated my mother so badly.
I feel that she was not given the care she needed. Despite clear instructions from the District
Nurse the staff refused to turn my mother every 2 hours and further claimed they couldn't get her mattress that was designed to prevent pressure sores. As a result a pressure sore was noted on my mother's death certificate. What terrible suffering she endured.
When we moved her to a nursing home to get the care she needed they were so shocked they reported the situation to Safeguarding. This nursing home said that they could get the special mattress in just 24 hours while Redesdale failed to get one in 8 weeks of apparently trying.
I would not recommend Redesdale and strongly suggest you consider alternatives

My mum went into care home April of this year2025 she has settled in really well and has been made really welcome by every member of staff .The home in itself is spotless and well.maintained. Her room is adequate for all her needs Her washing is done daily and delivered back to her room The food is
excellent resulting in my mum gaining weight after only 4 weeks I have had no issues but I'm sure if I did have they would be treated accordingly all in all very pleased with my mum's care and would highly recommend Kirknowe to anyone looking for somewhere for there loved one

Although my Uncle was not a long term resident the care and compassion he received was exemplary. The staff were all very helpful, cheerful and friendly. The activities well thought out and full of laughter. The room and shared areas were always clean and bright and well maintained. Well done to

My brother has been a resident in Castle View since 2020. He has received wonderful care and support throughout. the staff have gone out of their way to get to know him and his likes/dislikes. Contact with family to report any concerns they may have about his health is always prompt and detailed. He

My husband has been a resident from Dec 24 till now he was quite nervous prior to coming here and I also had massive reservations as he'd had a bad experience prior to coming here in another facility - Happily I can confirm mine and my husband's fears were unnecessary. I have photos taken at Christmas
time here and a photo taken last week the difference in my husband is amazing, he is very happy here and as a result I am also a very happy wife and can settle knowing he's really cared for, Thank you so very much.

My gran moved into the Claremont in the spring of 2020 during covid times. Generally the staff are pleasant, her room is clean and relatively comfortable. The majority of the nursing staff appear caring and friendly. However there are areas which need improvement. The food quality could be better as
meals often lack variety and flavour. There aint many activities for the residents which can make their days feel long and dull. Another issues is communication. A member of the family stays overseas and at times finds it difficult to get through on the telephone. If these issues were addressed it would make a difference to the overall experience for you residents and their family alike.

My mum became a resident at Primrose House at the start of March 2025. From the start, staff were welcoming, attentive and kind. They listened to our wishes and everything that had been discussed was promptly carried out. As time has gone on, mum has really settled into our new home. She is never left
on her own, is always clean and well dressed. Her mobility has improved as she is encouraged to walk and she is enjoying her meals. There are always activities planned which she takes part in. She is happy and calm and enjoying interaction with staff and residents. I believe this is due to the staff's kindness and time they spent to give her reassurance. This home is truly amazing. I fully recommend it.

The sign on the entrance says they are over staffed, in my opinion, Mossdale is understaffed. Mum has has several injuries in the last few months & no one can tell me how they've happend, I find this bizarre as if they are being cared for, which is what we're paying for (at a cost of over £6,000 per
month!) my opinion, someone should be with them and monitoring them constantly. On one visit, I was there for over 2 hrs & in this time, only saw 1 carer twice for a total of 4 minutes,
! We've spent hundreds of pounds on clothing recently on shoes, slippers and clothing, then labeled it all to find most has gone missing and found several items in my mums wardrobe thst aren't hers. There's also an expensive gold ring gone missing from my mums finger as well, we were also told there were day trips out from Mossdale as well but I've never seen one, seriously contemplating moving mum from here as they only seem interested in profit, not care. Food is also bad, mum's now 6st from 10.

Thank you for taking time to speak with us. We established that we have shared incidents with you at the time and that following injuries we have involved clinicians. At Mossdale Residence we care for people who do not require constant supervision, staffing levels are based on dependency and are regularly reviewed. I am sorry that you felt you only saw someone for a short period of time during your visit, however I can confirm staffing levels were correct at that time. Clothing is labelled and our laundry team ensure they are returned, however sometimes some of our memory care residents can move items, I am sorry that this has happened. Property lists are completed, photographs are taken so that any property can be identified. We previously spoke about a ring being too large for your mother and placed this in safekeeping until it could be returned. HC-One offers a varied nutritionally balanced menu which provides choice. We monitor our residents’ weights and where risks are identified we introduce fortified choices and refer to GP and dietician. Thank you for agreeing to meet with us in person so we can discuss your concern in detail together, learn from it and plan for the future.

Placing a loved one in a care home is a difficult decision. After 6 months, Mum has settled in well. Mum enjoys her privacy and the comfort of her room, which is comfortable and pleasant. There are lots of different activities on offer, we are encouraging Mum to join in more. Mum enjoys the food and
our afternoon teas have been fabulous. My biggest compliment to the home must be that they listen. Problems do arise, and I have found that I am listened to. However, more importantly, action is taken.

The staff are lovely and caring, kind to the residents with a sense of humour. However trying to contact your office to pay for a resident was very difficult to say the least. If the phone was answered many other telephones were ringing which made it impossible to hear or understand the person you were
trying to speak. A better switchboard is necessary.

My mother went to Broad Oak Manor Nov 24 from hospital as end of life care. Since moving there she has progressed well. The family feel she is well cared for, kept clean and given nutrition and fluids. She is comfortable. We are always greeted well by staff and updated by unit manager. All staff appear
to be extremely busy. Laundry is cleaned well and returned by laundry staff to rooms. Very often notice activity going on e.g crafts, entertainment. At the present time, we are very happy with care.
